Numerical optimization for design of a blade stacking line of a low speed axial flow fan with a fast and elitist Non-Dominated Sorting of Genetic Algorithm(NSGA-II) of multi-objective optimization using three-dimensional Navier-Stokes analysis is presented in this work. Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes(RANS) equations with ${\kappa}-{\varepsilon}$ turbulence model are discretized with finite volume approximations and solved on unstructured grids. Regression analysis is performed to get second order polynomial response which is used to generate Pareto optimal front with help of NSGA-II and local search strategy with weighted sum approach to refine the result obtained by NSGA-II to get better Pareto optimal front. Four geometric variables related to spanwise distributions of sweep and lean of blade stacking line are chosen as design variables to find higher performed fan blade. The performance is measured in terms of the objectives; total efficiency, total pressure and torque. Hence the motive of the optimization is to enhance total efficiency and total pressure and to reduce torque.
Presented in this paper is the design of a high voltage switch module made up of MOSFETs, pulse transformers and their gate driver circuits compactly fitted onto a single PCB module. The ease by which the switch modules can be configured (series stacking and/or parallel stacking) to meet future load variations allows for flexible operation of this design. In addition, the detailed implementation of the gate driver circuit for reliable and easier switch synchronization is also described in this paper. The stored energy in the capacitor bank of a 15kV, 4.5kJ/s peak power capacitor charger was discharged using the developed high voltage switch, and by experimental results, the operation of the proposed circuit was verified to be effectively used as a switch for pulse discharging.

The use of the co-cured joining method for composite structures is attractive due to several benefits. However, since the design stress level in cyclic loads is often smaller than the joint strength obtained from the static tensile load test, it is important to establish proper fatigue design criteria. Although some researchers have reported on co-cured joints, there are only a few papers published on the fatigue characteristics of co-cured joints. In this paper, the effect of bond parameters on the fatigue characteristics of a steel-composite co-cured double lap joint under cyclic tensile loads was experimentally investigated. We considered the surface roughness of the steel adherend and the stacking sequence of the composite adherend as bond parameters. A fatigue failure mechanism of the co-cured double lap joint was explained systematically by investigating the surfaces of failed specimens.
In this study, to investigate the effect of the generalized performance curve on the performance prediction and to find the optimal ones, a systematic study is performed. For this purpose, we compared the influence of the stage performance curves with experimental data in multi-stage axial compressors. As a result, it is discovered that the optimal generalized performance curves vary according to the number of the stages in compressors. And we found that for a low-stage compressors, Muir's pressure coefficient curve gives the best prediction results at design rotational frequency regardless of the efficiency curve. On the other hand, for high-stage compressors, Stone's pressure coefficient curve gives the optimistic results about the performance prediction at design rotational frequency.

Laminated composite plates have been applied to aircraft structures because their properties are superior to the conventional materials and the laminates have anisortropic elastic properties. However, it tis diffcult to determine stacking structures using actual design variables for the lack of searching capability of existing optimization technique. GA(generic algorithms) are robust search algorithms based on the mechanics of natural selection and natural genetics. Therefore, this study presents an application of IGA to stiffness and weight optimization design and gives the various stacking structures suitable to constraint conditions.

Sandwich panels consisting of various materials have widely been applied for mitigating dynamic impacts such as ballistic and blast impacts. Especially, the selection of materials for different core set-ups can directly influence its performance. In this study, we design the sandwich panels for alleviating ballistic and blast impacts by controlling the stacking sequence of core materials and their thicknesses. FEM studies are performed to simulate the dynamic behavior of sandwich panels subjected to ballistic and blast impacts. Delamination between the core layers is also considered in the FEM studies for feasible design. Based on the FEM data, kriging models are generated for approximating design space and quickly predicting the FEM outputs. Finally, design optimizations are implemented to find the optimum stacking sequence of core materials and thicknesses with given impact situations.

An optimization procedure is proposed for the design of cylindrically laminated composite shell having midplane symmetry and subjected to axial force, torsion and internal pressure. Tsai-Wu and Tsai-Hill failure criteria are taken as objective functions. The stacking sequence represents the design variable. The optimal design formulation based on state space method is adopted and solution proccedure is described with the emphasis on the method of calculations of the design sensitivities. A gradient projection algorithm is employed for the optimization process. Numerical results are presented for the several test problems.
The European architects including MVRDV, Rem Koolhaas, Van Berkel, and Zaha Hadid tend to use the their own design strategy based on the objective data. This Architectural design method leads to make new paradigm of contemporary architecture. For the purpose of the understanding a part of new architecture paradigm I will analyze the case of Villa VPRO designed by MVRDV. At the result, I can draw the following conclusions. First, through collecting and analyzing data, drawing design concept and planning the space program, they decided on the design strategies of Villa VPRO. They designed the space volume having 42.4m$\times$42.4m floors and infiltrated environmental elements to solve the problems about deep space. Second, Villa VPRO was constructed by 'creative space-making system: a series of floors much like a geological formation, the continuous floors interconnected by spatial means, the precision bombardments of snake-like holes, open elevations, the stacking spaces. Third, Villa VPRO produced the spectacle space effect the various formation of continuous floors make a lot of difference space types in this building. Also they lead to move naturally and give event space. A numbers of holes and openness make it possible to provide friendly environment with combining light and air with views of the surrounding and transparency. And using the method of stacking many types of space make the differences in height.
