In small embedded systems including IoT devices, memory size is very small and it is important to reduce memory amount for execution of application programs. For multi-threaded applications, stack may consume a large amount of memory because each thread has its own stack of sufficiently large size for worst case. This paper presents an implementation of single stack multi-threading, called SSThread (Single Stack Thread), by sharing a stack for all threads to reduce stack memory size. By using SSThread, multi-threaded applications can be programmed based on normal C language environment and there is no requirement of transporting multi-threading operating systems. It consists of several library functions and various C macro definitions. Even though some functional restrictions in comparison to operating systems supporting complete multi-thread functionalities, it is very useful for small embedded systems with tiny memory size and it is simple to setup programming environment for multi-thread applications.

In this paper, we present an architecture for the fault isolation by applying virtualization-based multi-stack technologies. We propose the simultaneous sharing and switching mechanism using virtualied serial communications. Each guest OS has its own virtual serial device. The distribution module provides communications between the guest OS's through the virtual serial devices and simultaneously detect the liveness of the guest OS. The suggested mechanism has been implemented in VirtualBox and shows satisfactory performance in transmission speed and data sharing capability with virtual RS232.

In this paper, a parallel operation algorithm for high power PEMFC generation systems is proposed. According to increasing the capacity of fuel cell systems with several fuel cell stacks, the different dynamic characteristics of each fuel cell stack effect on imbalance of load sharing and current distribution, so that a robust parallel operation algorithm is desired. Therefore, a power-sharing technique is developed and explained in order to design an optimal distributed PEMFC generation system. In addition, an optimal controller design procedure for the proposed parallel operation algorithm is introduced, along with informative simulations and experimental results.
Most data centers attempt to consolidate servers using virtualization technology to efficiently utilize limited physical resources. Moreover, virtualized systems have commonly adopted contents-based page sharing mechanism for page deduplication among virtual machines (VMs). However, previous page sharing schemes are limited by the inability to effectively manage accumulated hints which mean sharable pages in stack. In this paper, we propose a priority-based hint management scheme to efficiently manage accumulated hints, which are sent from guest to host for improving page sharing opportunity in virtualized systems. Experimental results show that our scheme removes pages with low sharing potential, as compared with the previous schemes, by efficiently managing the accumulated pages.
The Stack Resource Policy (SRP) is a real-time synchronization protocol with some distinct properties. One of such properties is early blocking; the execution of a job is delayed instead of being blocked when requesting shared resources. If SRP is used with dynamic priority scheduling such as Earliest Deadline First (EDF), the early blocking requires that a scheduler should select the highest-priority job among the jobs that will not be blocked, incurring runtime overhead. In this paper, we analyze the runtime overhead of EDF scheduling when SRP is used. We find out that the overhead of job search using the conventional implementations of ready queue and job search algorithms becomes serious as the number of jobs increases. To solve this problem, we propose an alternative data structure for the ready queue and an efficient job-search algorithm with O([log$_2n$]) time complexity.

This paper explains a system that is suitable for detecting software error running on multimedia distance control for transportation safety environment. This system consists of an ED, and ES. ED is an agent that detects an error by hooking techniques for multimedia distance education based on IP-USN gateway software stack environment. ES is an agent that is an error sharing system for multimedia distance control based on IP-USN gateway software stack environment. From the perspective of multimedia collaborative environment, an error application becomes another interactive presentation error is shared with participants engaged in a cooperative work.
With increasing multicore system, much effort has been put on the performance improvement of its application. Because multicore system has multiple processing devices in one system, its processing power increases compared to the single core system. However in many cases the advantages of multicore can not be exploited fully because the existing software and hardware were designed to be suitable for single core. When the existing software runs on multicore, its performance improvement is limited by the bottleneck of sharing resources and the inefficient use of cache memory on multicore. Therefore, according as the number of core increases, it doesn't show performance improvement and shows performance drop in the worst case. In this paper we propose a method of performance improvement of multicore system by applying Flow-Level Parallelism to the existing TCP/IP network application and operating system. The proposed method sets up the execution environment so that each core unit operates independently as much as possible in network application, TCP/IP stack on operating system, device driver, and network interface. Moreover it distributes network traffics to each core unit through L2 switch. The proposed method allows to minimize the sharing of application data, data structure, socket, device driver, and network interface between each core. Also it allows to minimize the competition among cores to take resources and increase the hit ratio of cache. We implemented the proposed methods with 8 core system and performed experiment. Experimental results show that network access speed and bandwidth increase linearly according to the number of core.
Recently, Hou and others introduced a (2, n) block-based progressive visual cryptographic scheme (BPVCS) in which image blocks can be gradually recovered step by step. In Hou and others' (2, n)-BPVCS, a secret image is subdivided into n non-overlapping image blocks. When t ($2{\leq}t{\leq} n$) participants stack their shadow images, all the image blocks associated with these t participants will be recovered. However, Hou and others' scheme is only a simple 2-out-of-n case. In this paper, we discuss a general (k, n)-BPVCS for any k and n. Our main contribution is to give two constructions (Construction 1 and Construction 2) of this general (k, n)-BPVCS. Also, we theoretically prove that both constructions satisfy a threshold property and progressive recovery of the proposed (k, n)-BPVCS. For k = 2, Construction 1 is reduced to Hou and others' (2, n)-BPVCS.
Three-dimensional (3D) memories using through-silicon vias (TSVs) as vertical buses across memory layers will likely be the first commercial application of 3D integrated circuit technology. The memory dies to stack together in a 3D memory are selected by a die-selection method. The conventional die-selection methods do not result in a high-enough yields of 3D memories because 3D memories are typically composed of known-good-dies (KGDs), which are repaired using self-contained redundancies. In 3D memory, redundancy sharing between neighboring vertical memory dies using TSVs is an effective strategy for yield enhancement. With the redundancy sharing strategy, a known-bad-die (KBD) possibly becomes a KGD after bonding. In this paper, we propose a novel die-selection method using KBDs as well as KGDs for yield enhancement in 3D memory. The proposed die-selection method uses three search-space conditions, which can reduce the search space for selecting memory dies to manufacture 3D memories. Simulation results show that the proposed die-selection method can significantly improve the yield of 3D memories in various fault distributions.
In current public blockchain, any node can see every blocks, so that public blockchain provider transparent property. However, some application requires the confidential information to be stored in the block. Therefore, this paper proposes a multi-layer blockchain that have the public block layer and the private block for confidential information. This paper suggests the requirement for encryption of private block. Also, this paper shows the t-of-n threshold cryptosystem without dealer who is trusted third party. Moreover, the delegated node who has key information can be withdraw the delegated node group or a new delegated node can join in the delegated node group. Therefore, the paper proposes an efficient key information resharing scheme for withdraw and join. Finally proposed scheme satisfies the requirements for encryption and fairness.
