  • In this study, a fuel cell system model for ship power was developed and verified by comparing the experimental results obtained by supplying pure oxygen. To verify the proposed model, the fuel cell output characteristics when oxygen was supplied were compared with those when air was supplied using an air compressor. In addition, the effect of the change in the thermal properties of the fuel cell system on the output of the stack was examined. Within the experimental range of this study, when pure oxygen was supplied as the cathode supply gas, the calculated and experimental voltages and outputs obtained through modeling were almost the same over the entire load range. When air was supplied instead of oxygen for the cathode supply at a constant load of 560 A, each stack voltage was approximately 14 V, the stack output was approximately 8 kW, and the stack efficiency was approximately 3 %. It was confirmed that the overall system efficiency was reduced by approximately 8 %. Among the thermal properties examined in this study, the heat transfer coefficient of the coolant to the stack was found to have the greatest effect on the output of the stack.

  • This research is to develop satiable battery charger with a variety of capacity and voltage specifications of battery. For this, voltage or current were controlled through buck converter which is DC voltage that already received three-phase at primary side and passed bridge rectifier diode. And, it was comprised of full-bridge converter and HFTR for insulation and a square wave AC. The transformer primary side was comprised in series to divide certain charging current and the secondly side was comprised of 6 fixed transformers so that they can generate certain amount of power and various output voltage through relay parallel compound 6 DC Link outputs. To confirm such structure's verification and validity, simulation with PSIM was conducted, and validity of proposed variable charger system was verified through 3kW stack production.

  • This paper presents an improved approach towards reducing the switching loss of insulated gate bipolar transistors (IGBTs) for a medium-capacity-class power conditioning system (PCS). In order to improve the switching performance, the switching operation is analyzed, and based on this analysis, an improved switching method that reduces the switching time and switching loss is proposed. Compared to a conventional gate drive scheme, the switching loss, switching time, and delay are improved in the proposed gate driving method. The performance of the proposed gate driving method is verified through several experiments.

  • The inductive coupling theory in serially stacked $Bi_2$$Sr_2$$CaCu_2$$O_{8+x}$ intrinsic Josephson junctions predicts that the lattice structure of the Josephson vortices along the c axis gradually changes from the triangular to the rectangular lattice with increasing the vortex velocity. This lattice transition appears as voltage jumps or sub-branch splitting in the Josephson vortex-flow region of current-voltage characteristics (IVC). We report the IVC in external magnetic fields from 2 to 4 T. The stack, with the lateral size of 1.4${\times}$15 $u\m^2$, was fabricated by using the double-side cleaving technique. The sub-branches in the Josephson vortex-flow region, corresponding to a plasma propagation mode in serially coupled intrinsic Josephson junctions, were also observed in the range of 2∼4T. Switching from one branch to another in Josephson vortex-flow region suggests the structural transition of the moving Josephson vortex lattice.

  • Tandem OLED structures formed by connecting two or more low-voltage electroluminescent units (stacks) are effective for achieving high efficiency at low current density as well as long operational lifetime. We have fabricated white emitting tandem structures with two or three low-voltage white-emitting stacks using transparent organic "PN"-type connectors. Three- stack white tandem structures with efficiency greater than 24 cd/A at D65 and operational stability of about 110,000 h. (extrapolated) at $1000\;cd/m^2$ have been demonstrated. With a stacked structure, the power consumption for displays using an RGBW format can be reduced by 25% compared to previously described formulations. We have also fabricated advanced white tandem structures where the color gamut (NTSC x,y ratio) has been improved to greater than 70% using standard color filters. The white OLEDs can also be used to increase the colorrendering index CRI (>80%), an important consideration for solid-state lighting.

  • The cutoff frequency of the output LC filters of PWM inverters limits the control bandwidth of the converter system while it attenuates voltage ripples that are caused by inverter switching activities. For a selected cutoff frequency of an output LC filter, an infinite number of L-C combinations is possible. This paper analyses the characteristics of output LC filters for PWM inverters terms of the L-C combinations. Practical circuit conditions such as no-loads, full resistive-loads, and inductive-load conditions are considered in the analysis. This paper proposes a LC filter design method for PWM inverters considering both the voltage ynamics and he inverter stack size. An experimental PWM inverter system based on the proposed output LC lter design uideline is built and tested.

  • In this paper, a control scheme for induction heating is proposed. The propose scheme estimates, resonant frequency by PI control subbing a phase of output voltage and resonant capacitor voltage. There are would be two advantages in the proposed system over existing induction heating system. One is the rapid resonant frequency estimation. A other is the just control of temperature. Power Circuit is used a inverter stack and transformer rated on 5.5kw.

  • This paper proposes a new power conditioning system for the fuel cell power generation, which consists of a ZVS DC-DC converter and 3-phase inverter. The ZVS DC-DC converter with a digital controller boosts the fuel cell voltage of 26-50V up to 400V, and the grid-tie inverter controls the active power delivered to the grid. The operation of proposed power conditioning system was verified through simulations with PSCAD/EMTDC software. The feasibility of hardware implementation was verified through experimental works with a laboratory prototype, which was built with 1.2kW PEM fuel-cell stack, 1kW DC-DC converter, and 3kW PWM inverter. The proposed system can be utilized to commercialize an interconnection system for the fuel-cell power generation.
