  • This paper proposes a interpolation error compensation method for PMSM torque control. In PMSM torque control, two dimensions look-up table(2D-LUT) is used for current reference generation due to its stable and robust torque control performance. However, the stored data in 2D-LUT is discreet, it is impossible to store all over the operation range. To reduce the reference generation error in this region, the 2D-Interpolation method is conventionally used, however, this method still remains the error affected by the number of stored data. Besides, in the case stored by fixed unit, this error is increased in field weakening region because of the small number of stored data. In this paper, analyzing the cause of this interpolation error, and compensating the method to reduce this error. Proposed method is verified by the simulation and experiment.

  • Simultaneous measurements of planar laser-induced fluorescence (PLIF) of OH radicals and particle image velocimetry (PIV) were used to investigate the strain rates and OH structure characteristics of turbulent syngas non-premixed jet flames close to blowoff. Mean values of the maximum principal strain rate on OH layer decreases with the axial distance, and its standard deviation is significantly large upstream. Strain rate on stabilization region of the stable flame is only about a half of that of the flame near blowoff.

  • In this paper, a robust text detection method based on edge enhanced contrasting extremal region (CER) is proposed using stroke width transform (SWT) and tensor voting. First, the edge enhanced CER extracts a number of covariant regions, which is a stable connected component from input images. Next, SWT is created by the distance map, which is used to eliminate non-text regions. Then, these candidate text regions are verified based on tensor voting, which uses the input center point in the previous step to compute curve salience values. Finally, the connected component grouping is applied to a cluster closed to characters. The proposed method is evaluated with the ICDAR2003 and ICDAR2013 text detection competition datasets and the experiment results show high accuracy compared to previous methods.

  • Pressure filtration technique was used to obtain defect-free microstructure of green cast ceramic bodies. Stable alumina suspensions of desired rheology (<5 Pa s at $1\;s^{-1}$) containing 60-80 mass. % solid loading were prepared in the alkaline region (at $pH{\approx}9$) with an optimum amount of 0.5 dmb % of Tiron added. Acidic region (at $pH{\approx}4$) enabled the preparation of 60 mass. % suspensions with addition of 1.5 dmb % of Tiron. The best quality slip was processed from an 80 mass.% suspension with 63% of theoretical density. The homogeneity of particle packing and the absence of defects in microstructure were proven by narrow pore size distribution (ranging from 32 to 64 nm, with up to 85% abundance), confirming advantages of the wet consolidation route.

  • In this study, a system coupled with the nonlinear dynamic vibration absorber was modelled, and its equation of motion was analized by the harmonic balance method to obtain the amplitude ratio. And also, the stability analysis was done by the Routh Hurwitz method. In the vibration systems coupled with the nonlinear dynamic vibration absorber, the unstable region and the jump phenomenon can be ramarkably affected by the damping ratio. The stable and unstable region that obtained to differential method excellently agreed to the result of the stability analysis of Routh Hurwitz.

  • Overseas construction industry has performed the leading role in the economic development. In this study, effect of international oil prices, GDP and price index, on the regional international construction contract amount is compared and analyzed. Overseas construction market received a devastating effect due to the 1997's economic crisis. However, the market has remained stable since 1998, and since 2005, the trend has been a surge in new orders.

  • In this paper, the well-conditioned observer is designed to be insensitive to the ill-conditioning factors in transient and steady-state observer performance. A condition number based on 12-norm of the eigenvector matrix of the observer matrix has been proposed on a principal index in the observer performance. For the well-conditioned observer design, the non-normality measure and the observability condition of the observer matrix are utilized. The two constraints are specified into observer gain boundary region that guarantees a small condition number and a stable observer. The observer gain selected in this region guarantees a well-conditioned and observable property. In this study, this method is applied to the Luenberger observer and Kalman filters for small order systems. In designing Kalman filters, the ratio of the process noise covariance to the measurement noise covariance is a design parameter and its effect on the condition number is investigated.

  • In this paper, an attempt has been made to design the current and speed proportional and integral (PI) regulators of self-commutating current source inverter-fed induction motor drive having capacitors at the machine end and to investigate the transient performance of the same for step changes in reference speed. The mathematical model of the complete drive system is developed in closed loop, and the characteristic equations of the systems are derived using perturbation about steady-state operating point in order to develop the characteristic equations. The D-partition technique is used for finding the stable region in the parametric plane. Frequency scanning technique is used to confirm the stability region. Final selection of the regulator parameters is done by comparing the transient response of the current and speed loops for step variations in reference. The performance of the drive is observed analytically through MATLAB simulation.

  • Fatigue crack growth rates in commercial plate of high strength Al 7075-T651 were investigated for the T-L direction in air, water and sea water. In this paper the effect of cyclic load wave-form(trapezoid and triangle) on fatigue crack growth rates in air, water and sea water environments were investigated using standard LEFM testing procedures. It was founded that the fatigue crack growth behaviors were not affected by cyclic load wave-forms. In region II (stable crack growth region), the fatigue crack growth behaviors were insensitive to cyclic load wave-forms and were sensitive to environment i.e. fatigue crack growth behaviors were higher in sea water than in air for all cyclic load wave-form. The result of fractographical morphology in air, water and sea water by SEM showed obvious dimple rupture and typical striation in air, but transgranular fracture surface in water and sea water. The values m are not affected by corrosion environments but C are different values.

  • The measurement of unique rainfall phenomenon and rain attenuation on 38 GHz terrestrial links at South Korea in 1998 is presented. It was one of the most severe rainfall years at the measured region due to increased EI Nino signal. The rainfall rate exceeded at $0.01\%$ was 97.4 mm/h during a worst month and annual rate was 63.5 mm/h. Experimentally measured results have been compared with some models and found that the rain attenuation by system level was underestimated by the existing prediction models. As it was measured only three months, further study and measurement of rainfall and rain attenuation in this region are needed for stable millimeter-wave system operation at all times.
