Purpose: In patients with splenic trauma, Computed Tomography (CT) scan is helpful in selecting treatment options and evaluating resolution after NOM (Non-Operative Management). The purpose of this study was to suggest a CT based hemoperitoneum (HP) scoring system that can easily be used by clinicians to evaluate the severity of injury and recovery. Methods: A retrospective review of patients with splenic trauma admitted to our hospital between May 2003 and January 2013 was conducted. Patients diagnosed with isolated spleen injury who had a CT scan on admission were included. 1 or 2 points were given according to location and amount of hematoma in the CT image. Using the existing ultrasonography (US) based HP scoring system, the same method was applied to obtain our CT based HP scoring (CBHS) system, which ranges from 0 to 8 points. The CBHS system can be easily used by clinicians for a quick assessment of splenic injury. Results: Of the 39 patients meeting the inclusion criteria, 6 patients were managed operatively and 33 nonoperatively. There was a significant difference in CBHS between the OM (operative management) group and the NOM group.(p=0.03) CBHS showed correlation with Hb (hemoglobin), Hct (hematocrit), spleen injury grade(AAST), and Hounsfield unit of ROI (Region of interest). (p=0.17, p=0.18, p<0.000, p=0.02, respectively) After successful NOM with stabilized Hb level, the amount of hemoperitoneum was scored in the follow-up CT. CBHS demonstrated correlation with decreased spleen injury grade, decreased Hounsfield unit of ROI (Region of interest) (p=0.039, p=0.049, respectively), and also objectively reflected patient recovery. Conclusion: CBHS can be used as an objective and intuitive tool for clinicians in grading the severity of splenic injury by scoring the amount of hemoperitoneum, and in assessing recovery.
This study was conducted with the national river, Munsancheon, which is located in Paju-si, Gyeonggi-do. The sediment discharge of Munsancheon was directly measured to analyze the sediment characteristics, and the results were used in the numerical model to predict the long-term river bed variation. The flow-total sediment discharge relation was derived using the measured total sediment discharge, and the results were compared with the total sediment discharge that was calculated using the existing prediction formula to derive a proper sediment discharge prediction method. In the actual measurements, the total annual sediment discharge was 5,478 ton/year, and the specific sediment discharge was 29.23 ton/$km^2$/year. The Ackers & White formula resulted in the values very close to the actual measurements. With the actual sediment discharge, geographical and hydrologic data as the input variables, HEC-6 and GSTARS models were comparatively analyzed. The test results showed that the HEC-6 model is suitable for the reliable prediction of the long-term river bed variation. Accordingly, the model was used for the long-term river bed variation prediction in this study. In the case of Munsancheon, deposition was continued in the downstream area and erosion occurred in the upstream area on the whole. It was expected that the stream would be stabilized in the river bed condition of 20 years later. The river bed variation was within 1 m, which was at the significance level. In the downstream area that is influenced by tide, however, the accumulation was continuously increasing within the section 2,000-7,000 m from the outlet. It seems that this should be considered in establishing the river management plans.
To develop a new cultivar of King oyster mushroom white variety (Pleurotus ferulae), GW10-95 as parental strain was selected by the method of Di-mon crossing between monokaryotic strain ASI 2850-24 derived from ASI 2850 and dikaryotic strain ASI 2803. The GW10-95(ASI 2803 ${\times}$ ASI 2850-24) was shown the best cultural characteristics, selected to be a new cultivar and designed as 'Beesan No.1'. The 'Beesan No.1' was formed incompatibility line distinctly in the confrontation growth of parental strains ASI 2803 and ASI 2850. Analysis of the genetic characteristics of the new cultivar 'Beesan No.1' showed a different DNA profile as that of the control strains, ASI 2803 and ASI 2850, when RAPD(Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA) primer URP6 was used. The optimum temperature and pH arrange for mycelial growth were $25^{\circ}C$ and pH5~8, respectively. Fruiting body production per bottle was about 245 g using demonstration farms. And also the stipe was thick and long. This new cultivar 'Beesan No.1' of Pleurotus ferulae was characterized by fast fruitbody formation, the stipe was thick and long and high quality yield compared to that of other cultuvars. We therefore expect that this new strain will increase of farmer's income by construction of stabilized production system.
For the study of ecophysiological characteristics of ground cover plant with shade tolerance, the material productivity and the growh characteristics were analyzed in Hosta clausa community at experimental farm of Kemyung College from March to October. The installation of experimental plots were split into control plot (full sunlight), 30%, 50%, 70%, shading rate by completely randomized design method. After the transplant, to take into account the edge effect of plant population, the plants were selected from each plot by random sampling every 10days. The following results were obtained; Then number of leaf, length of leaf and width of leaf length of leafstack remarkably showed high tendency under 30%, 50% shading plot as compared with control, 70% shading plot for the exmination as the process of develpment. They showed characteristics as herbaceous ground with shade tolerance under conparatively low the light condition and they ettain a stabilized development.

Even in the moderately concentrated anionic surfactant system, some special encapsulation method can shield the papain enzyme from proteolytic attacks. The stabilization of enzyme has been a major issue for successful therapies. In this study, we first stabilized an enzyme, papain in the microcapsules by using polyols, polyethyleneglycol (PEG), poly-propyleneglycol (PPG), and PEG-PPG-PEG block copolymer. In the analysis of EDS and CLSM, it was demonstrated that polyols are effectively located in the interface of papain and polymer. Polyols located in the interface had an ability to buffer the external triggers by hydrophobic partitioning, preventing consequently the catalytic activity of papain in the micro-capsules. Second. we introduced multi-layer capsulation methods containing ion complex. Such a moderately concentrated anionic surfactant system as wash-off cleansers, surfactants and waters can cause instability of entrapped enzymes. Surfactants and water in our final products swell the surface of enzyme capsules and penetrate into the core so easily that we can not achieve the effect of enzyme, papain. In this case, the ion complex multi-layer capsule composed of sodium lauroyl sarcosinate and polyquaternium-6 could effectively prevent water from penetration into the core enzyme, followed by in vivo test, and evaluate the stratum corneum (SC) turn-over speed.

Co-(0.8 wt%) and Ce-(0.4 wt%) doped cubic zirconia ($ZrO_2$ : $Y_2O_3$ = 80 : 20, 70 : 30, 60 : 40, 50 : 50 wt%) single crystals grown by a skull melting method were heat-treated in $N_2$ at $1000^{\circ}C$ for 5 hrs. The orange, yellowish brown and brown colored as-grown single crystals were changed into either brownish red, yellow and green color after the heat treatment. Before and after the heat treatment, the YSZ (yttria-stabilized zirconia) single crystals were cut for wafer form (${\phi}6.5mm{\times}t2mm$). The optical and structural properties were examined by UV-VIS spectrophotometer and X-ray diffraction. Absorption by $Ce^{3+}(^2F_{5/2,7/2}(4f){\rightarrow}^2T_g(5d^1))$, $Co^{2+}(^4A_2(^4F){\rightarrow}^4T_1(^4F)$ or $^4T_1(^4P))$ and $Co^{3+}$, change of ionization energy and lattice parameter were confirmed.
films of gold nanoparticles were formed on indium tin oxide (ITO) by an electrodeposition method from an aminosilicate stabilized gold colloid solution. The thin films were examined by cyclic voltammetry (CV), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), UV-visible, and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDXS). The surface coverage of gold nanoparticles on the thin film was estimated to 1.2 nanomole/cm2. An anthraquinone-2, 6-disulfonic acid, disodium salt (AQDS) self-assembled layer was generated by immersing gold thin film into 1mM of AQDS in 0.1M HClO4 solution for over 20 hours. As a result, a new absorbance peak from the multi-layers (AQDS/thin film of gold /ITO) was obtained about at 690 nm. Also, the surface plasmon absorption of multi-layers was measured by UV-Visible spectrometer along with chronoamperometry by applying the various potentials from +0.5V to -0.5V. The maximum surface plasmon absorption band at 550 nm was decreased by applying negative potentials. The change of absorbance was correlated with the surface coverage of the AQDS indicating the pseudo-capacity surface state of the AQDS layer was coupled to the energy level of the plasmonband by applied negative potentials.
In order to establish the design method of anchored retention walls in cut slope, the behavior of anchored retention walls and backside ground needs to be investigated and checked in detail. In this study, the behavior of anchored retention walls was investigated by instrumentation installed in cut slope for an apartment construction site stabilized by a row of piles and anchored retention walls. When the anchor was installed at each excavating stages, the horizontal deflection of retention wall decreased, while the horizontal deformation of backside ground increased. The deflection of anchored retention wall decreased as the anchor was prestressed. The prestressed anchor farce has a great effect on the deflection of retention walls, while it has little effect on the deformation of its backside ground. The maximum horizontal deflection of anchored retention walls was developed between $1\%\;and\;4\%$ of excavation depth, which are $2\~8$ times larger than max. horizontal deflection of anchored retention walls including rock layers with backside horizontal ground. Meanwhile, SLOPILE (ver. 3.0) program analyzes the slope stability effects for anchored retention walls. As a result of analysis on slope stability analysis, the lateral earth pressure applied at anchored retention piles could be used as the mean values of empirical lateral pressures using anchored retention wall with horizontal ground at its backside.
In order to estimate the possibility of applying electrolytes generally used in solid oxide fuel cells(SOFCs) to direct carbon fuel cells(DCFCs), properties of YSZ(yttria stabilized zirconia) electrolyte were evaluated. In this study, vacuum slurry coating method was adapted to coat thin layer on anode support substrate. After sintering the electrolyte at $1400^{\circ}C$ for 5hrs, microstructure was analyzed by using SEM image. Also, gas permeability and ionic conductivity were measured to find out the potential possibility of electrolyte for DCFCs. The YSZ electrolyte represented dense coating layer and low gas permeability value. The ionic conductivity of YSZ electrolyte was high over $800^{\circ}C$. After measurement of the electrolyte properties, direct carbon fuel cell was fabricated and its performance was measured at $800^{\circ}C$.
It is known that the Fe-Al transition metal compounds have a lot of disagreement about structural stability and magnetism. In this study, the correlation between magnetism and atomic structure of ordered $B_2$, $L1_2$, and $D0_3$ structured Fe-Al compounds has been investigated using the all-electron full-potential linearized augmented plane wave (FLAPW) method based on the generalized gradient approximation (GGA). We found that considered all the structures were calculated to be stabilized in a ferromagnetic state. The calculated spin magnetic moments of the Fe atoms for B2 and $L1_2$ structures were 0.771 and 2.373 ${\mu}_B$, respectively, and that of Fe(I) and Fe(II) in $D0_3$ structure calculated to be 2.409 ${\mu}_B$, 1.911 ${\mu}_B$, respectively. In order to investigate structural stability between $L1_2$ and $D0_3$ structures, we performed the formation enthalpy calculations. As a result, the $D0_3$ structure is found to be more favorable than $L1_2 one by energy difference 16 meV/atom, which is well consistent with the experimental observation. We understood about structural stability and magnetism for Fe-Al compounds in terms of analysis of their atomic and electronic structures.
