Verification Test of High-Stability SMEs Using Technology Appraisal Items (기술력 평가항목을 이용한 고안정성 중소기업 판별력 검증)

  • This study started by focusing on the internalization of the technology appraisal model into the credit rating model to increase the discriminative power of the credit rating model not only for SMEs but also for all companies, reflecting the items related to the financial stability of the enterprises among the technology appraisal items. Therefore, it is aimed to verify whether the technology appraisal model can be applied to identify high-stability SMEs in advance. We classified companies into industries (manufacturing vs. non-manufacturing) and the age of company (initial vs. non-initial), and defined as a high-stability company that has achieved an average debt ratio less than 1/2 of the group for three years. The C5.0 was applied to verify the discriminant power of the model. As a result of the analysis, there is a difference in importance according to the type of industry and the age of company at the sub-item level, but in the mid-item level the R&D capability was a key variable for discriminating high-stability SMEs. In the early stage of establishment, the funding capacity (diversification of funding methods, capital structure and capital cost which taking into account profitability) is an important variable in financial stability. However, we concluded that technology development infrastructure, which enables continuous performance as the age of company increase, becomes an important variable affecting financial stability. The classification accuracy of the model according to the age of company and industry is 71~91%, and it is confirmed that it is possible to identify high-stability SMEs by using technology appraisal items.

Rotor Dynamic Design of the Centrifugal Chiller Using Offset Bearing (Offset 베어링을 활용한 터보냉동기의 회전체동역학 설계)

  • A rotor dynamic analysis is implemented to confirm the vibration stability of the high speed centrifugal chiller coupled with gear system. As the rotating speed of the centrifugal chiller under investigation is increased up to 17605rpm at the pinion rotating part, the bearing instability is getting higher and, furthermore, the rotor-bearing system might experience a few critical speed which lead to system failure due to the excessive vibration. In this study, considering the loading capacity and stability conditions, offset journal bearings are adopted for the pinion rotating system and general cylindrical bearings are used for motor part. From the modal analysis, the system is found to be stable as the critical damping ratio which shows the damping characteristics of the system are positive over all operating ranges, and in addition, the synchronous rotating frequency does not come across with any whirl natural frequency. From these results the authors confirm the vibration stability of the rotor-bearing system suggested in this study.

Effect of Value Timing on Residual Gas Fraction and Combustion Characteristics at Part Load Condition in an SI Engine (가솔린 엔진의 밸브타이밍 변화가 부분부하 조건에서 잔류가스량 및 연소특성에 미치는 영향)

  • In-cylinde flow and mixture formation are key contributors to both idle stability and combustion stability at part load condition in SI engine. The real time measurements of air-fuel ration and in- cylinder residual gas fraction are particularly important to obtain a better understanding of the mechanisms for combustion and emissions especially during cold start and throttle transient condition. This paper reports the cycle resolved measurements of residual gas fraction and equivalence ration near speak plug with value timing change and their effects on combustion characteristics at part load. The results showed that the effect of intake value opening on the residual gas fraction was smaller than that of exhaust valve closing because of the decreases of exhaust gas reverse flow from exhaust port. The variation of equivalence ratio near spark plug increased with the increase of value overlap and it closely related with heat release rate and combustion stability

Effect of Palm Oil Blending on the Thermal and Oxidative Stability of Soybean Oil (대두유의 열산화 안정성에 미치는 팜유 배합의 영향)

  • In order to investigate the thermal and oxidative stability of different frying oils including soybean oil, palm oil, two blended oils of soybean-palm (5 : 5 and 7 : 3) and shortening, physico-chemical properties such as acid value, peroxide value, TBA value, degree of coloring, refractive index and specific gravity of the frying oils were measured during the preparation of French fried potatoes by repeated frying. The instability of soybean oil against thermal and oxidative degradation could be lessened by using blended oils in which the ratio of palm oil to soybean oil is more than 50%.

Biologic stability of plasma ion-implanted miniscrews

  • Objective: To gain basic information regarding the biologic stability of plasma ion-implanted miniscrews and their potential clinical applications. Methods: Sixteen plasma ion-implanted and 16 sandblasted and acid-etched (SLA) miniscrews were bilaterally inserted in the mandibles of 4 beagles (2 miniscrews of each type per quadrant). Then, 250 - 300 gm of force from Ni-Ti coil springs was applied for 2 different periods: 12 weeks on one side and 3 weeks contralaterally. Thereafter, the animals were sacrificed and mandibular specimens including the miniscrews were collected. The insertion torque and mobility were compared between the groups. The bone-implant contact and bone volume ratio were calculated within 800 mm of the miniscrews and compared between the loading periods. The number of osteoblasts was also quantified. The measurements were expressed as percentages and analyzed by independent t-tests (p < 0.05). Results: No significant differences in any of the analyzed parameters were noted between the groups. Conclusions: The preliminary findings indicate that plasma ion-implanted miniscrews have similar biologic characteristics to SLA miniscrews in terms of insertion torque, mobility, bone-implant contact rate, and bone volume rate.

An Evaluation on the Steering Stability of the Guideway Vehicle (안내궤도 차량의 조향 안정성 평가)

  • A study of the guideway vehicle was made for a comparison of ride stabilities between its two primary steering types; one is the front wheel steering and the other the front-rear wheel. A numerical model as a closed loop system was built for an investigation of various factors to have an influence on the vehicular critical speed which is closely associated with ridabilities. It was shown that dynamics stabilities of the front steering type was much better over a large value of steering gain and the longer distance between front axle and guide link for both types provided better stabilities as well. A large steering gain ratio of the front to the rear significantly plays an important role in an improvement of stability in the front-rear steering. To observe a qualitative trend on stability behaviors, the root locus was obtained by considering a time lag which may be frequently caused by the complicated steering mechanism. In performing so, the appropriate selection of steering gain had a greater effect on the front-rear steering vehicle far more ride comfort. In addition, the dynamics model proposed here can be utilized for a more accurate evaluation on the vehicle design in lateral or yawing absorber and moreover expanded for the analysis of independent four-wheel steering vehicle.

Numerical Study on the Isothermal Flow Field abound Rectangular Cross Section Bluff Body (사각형 둔각물체 주위의 유동장 특성에 관한 수치적 연구)

  • The Numerical simulation was performed on the flow field around the two-dimensional rectangular bluff body in order to complement the previous experimental results of the bluff body stabilized flames [1]. For both fuel ejection configurations against an oxidizer stream, the flame stability was affected mainly by vortex structure and mixing field near bluff body. FDS(Fire Dynamic Simulator) based on the LES(Large Eddy Simulation) was employed to clarify the isothermal mixing characteristic and wake flow pattern around bluff body. The air used atmosphere and the fuel used methane. The result of counter flow configuration shows that the flow field depends on air velocity but the mixing field is influenced on the fuel velocity. At low fuel velocity the fuel mole fraction is below the flammable limit and hence the mixing is insufficient to react. Therefore, as the result, the flame formed at low fuel velocity is characterized by non-premixed flames. For the flow field of co-flow configuration, flame stability was affected by fuel velocity as well as air velocity. the vortex generated by fuel stream has counter rotating direction against the air stream. Therefore, the momentum ratio between air and fuel stream was important to decide the flame blow out limit, which is result in the characteristic of the partially premixed reacting wake near extinction.

Stability analysis of bimodular pin-ended slender rod

  • Many novel materials, developed in recent years, have obvious properties with different modulus of elasticity in tension and compression. The ratio of their tensile modulus to compressive modulus is as high as five times. Nowadays, it has become a new trend to study the mechanical properties of these bimodular materials. At the present stage, there are extensive studies related to the strength analysis of bimodular structures, but the investigation of the buckling stability problem of bimodular rods seems to cover new ground. In this article, a semi-analytical method is proposed to acquire the buckling critical load of bimodular slender rod. By introducing non-dimensional parameters, the position of neutral axis of the bimodular rod in the critical state can be determined. Then by combining the phased integration method, the deflection differential equation of bimodular pin-ended slender rod is deduced. In addition, the buckling critical load is obtained by solving this equation. An example, which is conducted by comparing the calculation results between the three of the methods including the laboratory tests, numerical simulation method and the method we developed here, shows that the method proposed in the present work is reliable to use. Furthermore, the influence of bimodular characteristics on the stability is discussed and analyzed.

Stability analysis of prestressed stayed steel columns with split-up crossarm systems

  • A Prestressed stayed steel column is an efficient and lightweight way with regard to enhancing the stability behaviour of a compression column. In the past, researchers primarily concentrated on investigating the behaviour of stayed steel columns with horizontal crossarms. However, this article focuses on prestressed stayed steel columns with split-up crossarm system, in which the crossarms are aslant and rotational symmetrically arranged. A mathematical formula calculating the optimal pretension that corresponds to the maximum critical buckling load was established according to geometric analysis based on the small deformation assumption. It was demonstrated that critical buckling mode of this stayed column is different from the one with horizontal crossarms. The governing imperfection direction that should be adopted in the nonlinear buckling analysis was determined in this work. In addition, the effects of crossarm inclination, stay diameter, and crossarm length on the stability behaviour were investigated. An influencing factor denotes the ratio of the load carrying capacity of the prestressed stayed steel column to the Euler load of the main column was also obtained.
