ZnO-based thin-film transistors (TFTs) have been fabricated and the mechanical characteristics of electric circuits, such as stress, strain, and deformation are analyzed by the finite element method (FEM). In this study, a mechanical-stability design guide for such systems is proposed; this design takes into account the stress and deformation of the bridge to estimate the stress distribution in an $SiO_2$ film with 0 to 5% stretched on 0.5-${\mu}m$-thick. The predicted buckle amplitude of $SiO_2$ bridges agrees well with experimental results within 0.5% error. The stress and strain at the contact point between bridges and a pad were measured in a previous structural analysis. These structural analysis suggest that the numerical measurement of deformation, SU-8 coating thickness for Neutral Mechanical Plane (NMP) and ITO electrode size on a dielectric layer was useful in enhancing the structural and electrical stabilities.
Availability of pressuremeter test for evaluation of geotechnical properties of foundation soil into which guardrail post is to be installed is investigated in this study. First, an analysis method of the post based on the pressuremeter test is proposed that can obtain bending moment and load-deformation profiles of the post. Then static horizontal load test onto a small scale guardrail post is performed in order to get bearing capacity and load-deformation pattern of the model post. The obtained results are compared with the load-deformation curves and bearing capacity of the post obtained from the pressuremeter method. In addition horizontal impact test to the post is performed using a model bogie car in order to check failure pattern around the model foundation and to investigate dynamic bearing capacity due to deceleration and inertia force of the soil. It is verified that the pressuremeter test is so useful and reasonal technique to analyze road foundation-post interaction.

The study developed an automatic design method of steel frames which uses nonlinear analysis. The geometric nonlinearity was considered using stability functions. Likewise, the transverse shear deformation effect in a beam-column was explained. A direct search method was used as an automatic design technique. The unit value of each part was evaluated using LRFD interaction equation. The member with the largest unit value was replaced one by one with an adjacent larger member selected from the database. The weight of the steel frame was considered as an objective function. On the other hand, load-carrying capacities, deflections, inter-story drifts, and ductility requirement were used as constraint functions. Case studies of a two-dimensional and a three-dimensional two-story frames were presented.

The basic systems of spatial structures such as shells, membrane, cable-nets and tensegrity structure have been developed to create the large spaces without column. These structures may have large freedom in scale and form, and especially tensegrity structures are received much attention from the view points of their light weight and aesthetics. But There re some difficulties concerning structural stability, surface formation and construction method. One of the way to solve these problems reasonably is a combination of tensile members and rigid members. A structural system based on this concept is referred to as the "HTS ( Hybrid Tension Structure )". This is a type of flexible structural system which is unstable initially, because the cable material has little initial rigidity. As cable - dome hybrid structures is a type of HTS, the initial stress for the self- equilibrated system having stable state have to be introduced. To determine initial stress having stable state, the shape finding analysis is required before the stress - deformation analysis. In this paper, the primary objective is to derive the nonlinear finite element formula of cable and truss members considering geometric nonlinearity for shape finding of cable-dome, and to propose the method to decide the initial stress by the shape analysis of cable-dome hybrid structure with the self-equilibrated state.
With an increase in rail traffic, developing activities around structures of railway have been expanded. Inevitably, the changes to cross though sub-structures of railway have been getting increased. However, this situation affects on the safe operation of trains. Generated wheel load makes on the result in settlement on roadbed and damages on track materials. Therefore, via the numerical analysis were carried out for the box structure and subground using FEM analysis program called. Visual FEA/Geo 4.19. Parametric studies were performed by changing soil depth above box structure constructed in railway embankment. A standard live load was applied to simulate loads from train. Through this study, a minimum required soil depth above subground box structure was recommended based on deformation and stresses in concrete railway system.
Toppling failure of a slope is defined as failure behavior accompanying the rotation of rock block which is different from other failure such as sliding along with discontinuities and so on. It generally occurs in the region that discontinuities were developed with inverse dip direction to a slope and it could play a critical role in judging stability of slope. In this study, the stability evaluation was performed about toppling failure on a jointed road cut-slope. To check the deformation behavior, numerical analysis is widely used. However common analysis programs are based on continuum model. Recently, many methods that discontinuity properties can be considered in continuum analysis are suggested. In this study, numerical analysis based on FEM(Finite Element Method) was performed using interface element applied in heterogeneous boundary to simulate effects of discontinuities.
In this study, deformation behavior of existing concrete face rockfill dam, which is raised to a certain height to enhance storage capacity or to improve hydraulic and hydrologic stability, is examined using numerical analysis method. The results obtained from FEM analysis show a possibility that additional fill at downstram slope of existing CFRD dam body may lead undesirable deformations and stresses in existing dam body, especially in face concrete, such as settlements in upper part and bulging in lower part, excessive bending moments, and eventualy tensile cracks. Therefore, in designing multi-staged raising construction of CFRD, it is essential to consider deformations and stresses to be developed within and between exisiting dam body and added parts due to additional fill, and to prepare a proper measure to prevent abnormal deformations and stresses in the dam body including added parts.
In this paper, the DDA method with a new hydro-mechanical algorithm is used to study the effect of rock discontinuities on uplift and seepage in concrete gravity dam foundations. This paper presents an alternative method of predicting uplift and seepage at the base of concrete gravity dams. A sensitivity analysis was carried out to study the importance of several parameters on dam stability such as the orientation, spacing, and location of discontinuities. The study shows that joint water flow and adverse geological conditions could result in unusual uplift at the base of concrete gravity dams, well in excess of what is predicted with the classical linear or hi-linear pressure assumption. It is shown that, in general, the DDA program with the hydro-mechanical algorithm can be used as a practical tool in the design of gravity dams built on fractured rock masses.

Generally, tsunamis are generated by the rapid crustal movements of the ocean floor. Other factors of tsunami generation include landslides on coastal and ocean floor slopes, glacier collapses, and meteorite collisions. In this study, two numerical analyses were conducted to examine the formation, propagation, and deformation properties of landslide tsunamis. First, LS-DYNA was adopted to simulate the formation and propagation processes of tsunamis generated by dropping rigid bodies. The generated tsunamis had smaller wave heights and wider waveforms during their propagation, and their waveforms and flow velocities resembled those of theoretical solitary waves after a certain distance. Second, after the formation of the landslide tsunami, a tsunami based on the solitary wave approximation theory was generated in a numerical wave tank (NWT) with a computational domain that considered the stability/steady phase. The comparison of two numerical analysis results over a certain distance indicated that the waveform and flow velocity were approximately equal, and the maximum wave pressures acting on the upright wall also exhibited similar distributions. Therefore, an effective numerical model such as LS-DYNA was necessary to analyze the formation and initial deformations of the landslide tsunami, while an NWT with the wave generation method based on the solitary wave approximation theory was sufficient above a certain distance.
Decomposed granite soil is the most common type of soils. The measurement of the stress-strain-strength behavior of anisotropic decomposed granite soils is very important for the deformation and stability analysis of slopes, retaining walls, excavations. A series of unsaturated-drained triaxial compression tests were performed to know unsaturated strength properties. The sample had three different angles of the axial (major principal) direction to the sedimentation plane (compaction plane): 0, 45 and 90 degrees. The compression strain of specimens subjected to an isotropic compression was strongly influenced by the sedimentation angle. In addition, the time dependence was independent of the sedimentation angle in relation to the deformation behavior during the secondary compression process. The effect of the sedimentation angle on the triaxial compression strength and deformation was clearly shown with low confining stress. The effect of the sedimentation angle on the compressive strength and deformation was more evident in saturated specimens. A new method of predicting the shear strength of unsaturated decomposed granite soils, considering compaction angles, was proposed.
