Objectives : A morphological classification among Achyranthes japonica Nakai (produced in Korea), A. bidentata Blume (imported from China), and Cyathula officinalis Kuan (used in China exclusively) was made through microscopic observation. Method : The slice of the tested material made by paraffin section technique was colored with Safranine Malachite Green contrast methods, and then observed and photographed by olymphus-BHT. Result : 1. Korean A. japonica Nakai has slim roots, whose diameter is $1{\sim}5\;mm$. 1) Most of its intersection is stele, which includes a lot of vascular bundles. The inside of vascular bundles shows the arrangement of $2{\sim}4$ cycles, the innermost wheel of which is divided into two parts. 2) Parts of parenchymatous cell include Crystal sand of calcium oxalate. 2. The diameter of the roots of Chinese A. bidentata Blume is $0.4{\sim}1\;cm$. 1) The xylem in the vascular bundle in the middle of its intersection is rather big, around which the inner parts of the vascular bundles are arranged in the shape of $2{\sim}4$ cycles around. The most outside part of it is small, and the middle part is gathered into $2{\sim}3$ groups. 2) Parts of parenchymatous cells include Crystal sand of calcium oxalate. 3. The roots of Chinese C. officinalis Kuan is thick, whose diameter is $0.5{\sim}3\;cm$. 1) Vascular bundle of its intersection is spotted, arranged in the shape of $4{\sim}11$ concentric circles, whose center is divided into $2{\sim}9$ groups. 2) Parenchymatous cells include crystal sand and square crystal of calcium oxalate. Conclusion : It is concluded that Achyranthes japonica Nakai, A. bidentata Blume, and C. officinalis Kuan have different shapes in both external forms and internal intersections, so that they can be easily distinguished from one another through microscopic observation.
Purpose: This study evaluated the association between cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) and panoramic radiographs in the assessment of a superimposed relationship between the mandibular canal and impacted third molars. Materials and Methods: The study samples consisted of 175 impacted third molars from 131 patients who showed a superimposed relationship between the mandibular canal and third molars on panoramic radiographs and were referred for the examination of the mandibular canal with CBCT. Panoramic images were evaluated for the darkening of the root and the interruption of the mandibular canal wall. CBCT images were used to assess the buccolingual position of the mandibular canal relative to the third molar, the proximity of the roots to the canal, and lingual cortical bone loss. The association of the panoramic and CBCT findings was examined using a Chi-square test and Fisher's exact test. Results: Panoramic radiographic signs were statistically associated with CBCT findings (P<0.01). In cases of darkening roots, lingual cortical bone loss or buccally positioned canals were more frequent. In cases in which the mandibular canal wall was interrupted on panoramic radiographs, contact or lingually positioned canals were more frequent. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that contact between the mandibular third molar and canal and a lingually positioned canal could be more frequently observed in cases of the interruption of the white line of the mandibular canal and that there could be more lingual cortical loss in cases of darkening roots.
Purpose: The aims of this study were first, to compare panoramic radiography with cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) for evaluating topographic relationships, such as the classification of maxillary posterior teeth and their distance to the maxillary sinus floor; and second, to determine the relationship between maxillary sinus pathology and the presence of apical lesions. Materials and Methods: In total, 285 paired CBCT and panoramic radiography records of patients (570 maxillary sinuses) were retrospectively analyzed. Both imaging modalities were used to determine the topographic relationship of the maxillary posterior teeth to the sinus floor. Mucosal thickening >2 mm was considered a pathological state. Data were analyzed using the chi-square, Wilcoxon, and Mann-Whitney U tests. Odds ratios (ORs) and confidence intervals(CIs) were calculated. Results: The closest vertical distance measurements made between posterior maxillary teeth roots and the maxillary sinus on panoramic radiography and CBCT scans showed statistically significant differences from each other(P<0.05). Compared to panoramic radiography, CBCT showed higher mean values for the distance between the maxillary sinus floor and maxillary posterior teeth roots. The CBCT images showed that at least 1 apical lesion adjacent to the right maxillary sinus increased the risk of maxillary sinus pathology by 2.37 times(OR, 2.37; 95% CI, 1.58-3.55, P<0.05). Conclusion: Panoramic radiography might lead to unreliable diagnoses when evaluating the distance between the sinus floor and posterior roots of the maxillary teeth. Periapical lesions anatomically associated with maxillary sinuses were a risk factor for sinus mucosal thickening.
Previously, Pseudomonas plecoglossicida YJR13 and Pseudomonas putida YJR92 from a sequential screening procedure were proven to effectively control Phytophthora blight caused by Phytophthora capsici. In this study, we further investigated the anti-oomycete activities of these strains against mycelial growth, zoospore germination, and germ tube elongation of P. capsici. We also investigated root colonization ability of the bacterial strains in square dishes, including cell motility (swimming and swarming motilities) and biofilm formation. Both strains significantly inhibited mycelial growth in liquid and solid V8 juice media and M9 minimal media, zoospore germination, and germ tube elongation compared with Bacillus vallismortis EXTN-1 (positive biocontrol strain), Sphingomonas aquatilis KU408 (negative biocontrol strain), and MgSO4 solution (untreated control). In diluted (nutrient-deficient) V8 juice broth, the tested strain populations were maintained at >108 cells/ml, simultaneously providing mycelial inhibitory activity. Additionally, these strains colonized pepper roots at a 106 cells/ml concentration for 7 days. The root colonization of the strains was supported by strong swimming and swarming activities, biofilm formation, and chemotactic activity towards exudate components (amino acids, organic acids, and sugars) of pepper roots. Collectively, these results suggest that strains YJR13 and YJR92 can effectively suppress Phytophthora blight of pepper through direct anti-oomycete activities against mycelial growth, zoospore germination and germ tube elongation. Bacterial colonization of pepper roots may be mediated by cell motility and biofilm formation together with chemotaxis to root exudates.
Purpose: This study compared the diagnostic accuracy of cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) scans obtained with 2 CBCT systems with high- and low-resolution modes for the detection of root perforations in endodontically treated mandibular molars. Materials and Methods: The root canals of 72 mandibular molars were cleaned and shaped. Perforations measuring 0.2, 0.3, and 0.4 mm in diameter were created at the furcation area of 48 roots, simulating strip perforations, or on the external surfaces of 48 roots, simulating root perforations. Forty-eight roots remained intact(control group). The roots were filled using gutta-percha (Gapadent, Tianjin, China) and AH26 sealer (Dentsply Maillefer, Ballaigues, Switzerland). The CBCT scans were obtained using the NewTom 3G (QR srl, Verona, Italy) and Cranex 3D (Soredex, Helsinki, Finland) CBCT systems in high- and low-resolution modes, and were evaluated by 2 observers. The chi-square test was used to assess the nominal variables. Results: In strip perforations, the accuracies of low- and high-resolution modes were 75% and 83% for NewTom 3G and 67% and 69% for Cranex 3D. In root perforations, the accuracies of low- and high-resolution modes were 79% and 83% for NewTom 3G and was 56% and 73% for Cranex 3D. Conclusion: The accuracy of the 2 CBCT systems was different for the detection of strip and root perforations. The Cranex 3D had non-significantly higher accuracy than the NewTom 3G. In both scanners, the high-resolution mode yielded significantly higher accuracy than the low-resolution mode. The diagnostic accuracy of CBCT scans was not affected by the perforation diameter.
Both parametric and parameter-free necessary and sufficient optimality conditions are established for a class of nondiffer-entiable nonconvex optimal control problems with generalized fractional objective functions, linear dynamics, and nonlinear inequality constraints on both the state and control variables. Based on these optimality results, ten Wolfe-type parametric and parameter-free duality models are formulated and weak, strong, and strict converse duality theorems are proved. These duality results contain, as special cases, similar results for minmax fractional optimal control problems involving square roots of positive semi definite quadratic forms, and for optimal control problems with fractional, discrete max, and conventional objective functions, which are particular cases of the main problem considered in this paper. The duality models presented here contain various extensions of a number of existing duality formulations for convex control problems, and subsume continuous-time generalizations of a great variety of similar dual problems investigated previously in the area of finite-dimensional nonlinear programming.
Let J be the Jacobian variety of a hyperelliptic curve over $\mathbb{Q}$. Let M be the field generated by all square roots of rational integers over a finite number field K. Then we prove that the Mordell-Weil group J(M) is the direct sum of a finite torsion group and a free $\mathbb{Z}$-module of infinite rank. In particular, J(M) is not a divisible group. On the other hand, if $\widetilde{M}$ is an extension of M which contains all the torsion points of J over $\widetilde{\mathbb{Q}}$, then $J(\widetilde{M}^{sol})/J(\widetilde{M}^{sol})_{tors}$ is a divisible group of infinite rank, where $\widetilde{M}^{sol}$ is the maximal solvable extension of $\widetilde{M}$.

L.G. Khachiyan's algorithm for solving a system of strict (or open) linear inequalities with integral coefficients is described. This algorithm is based on the construction of a sequence of ellipsoids in R$^n$ of decreasing n-dimensional volume and contain-ing feasible region. The running time of the algorithm is polynomial in the number of bits of computer core memory required to store the coefficients. It can be applied to solve linear programming problems in polynomially bounded time by the duality theorem of the linear programming problem. But it is difficult to use in solving practical problems. Because it requires the computation of a square roots, besides other arithmatic operations, it is impossible to do these computations exactly with absolute precision.

This paper presents an identification method of parameters of induction motor which is driven by PWM voltage inverter. The method uses least square estimation based on the step voltage input and current response. Utilizing the fact that ratio of two characteristic roots is large in the induction motor circuit, we derived two 1st-order difference equations for direct computation of parameter values. experimental results are compared with conventional motor test results to demonstrate that the proposed method is capable of estimating parameters of induction motor at standstill.
The computer can be used to display a continuously updated list or plot of vessel position. The computer that accept input data from a number of different navigation systems, e.g., Loran , Satnav, Radar, Decca, Compass, Sextant with electrical output etc., can compute the position of a vessel relative to prerecorded objects. The celestial navigation system requires the computer to do not much calculation. Calculation are for trigonometeric, linear systems, finding roots of nonlinear equation and least square estimation etc, . In order to computerize the celestrial navigation system, these calculations must be programmed. The purpose of this thesis is to study the formulation, the design and the test of calculations of the coordinates of celestial bodies, the altitude correction and the solution of the navigational triangle processes.
