  • Spring supported piezoelectric cantilever structures (SPCS) were fabricated for vibration-based energy harvester application. We selected four elastic springs (A, B, C, and D type) as cantilever's supporter, each elastic spring has a different spring constant (S). The C type of SPCS ($S_C$: 4,649 N/m) showed a extremely low resonance frequency of 81 Hz along with the highest power output of 38.5 mW while the A type of SPCS ($S_A$: 40,629 N/m) didn't show a resonance frequency while. Therefore, it is considered that the lower spring constant lead to a lower resonance frequency of the SPCS. In addition, a tip mass (18 g) at one end of the SPCS could further reduce the resonance frequency without heavy degradation of power output.

  • To determine the effect of transverse open crack on the dynamic behavior of simply-supported Euler-Bernoulli beam with the moving masses, an iterative modal analysis approach is developed. The influence of depth and position of the crack in the beam, on the dynamic behavior of the simply supported beam system, have been studied by numerical method. The cracked section is represented by a local flexibility matrix, connecting two undamaged beam segments that is, the crack is modeled as a rotational spring. This flexibility matrix defines the relationship between the displacements and forces across the crack section, and is derived by applying a fundamental fracture mechanics theory. As the depth of the crack is increased, the mid-span deflection of the simply-supported beam, with the moving mass, is increased. The crack is positioned in the middle point of the pipe, and the mid-span defection of the simply-supported pipe represents maximum deflection.

  • An iterative modal analysis approach is developed to determine the effect of transverse open cracks on the dynamic behavior of simply supported pipe conveying fluid subject to the moving mass. The equation of motion is derived by using Lagrange's equation. The influences of the velocity of moving mass and the velocity of fluid flow and a crack have been studied on the dynamic behavior of a simply supported pipe system by numerical method. The presence of crack results in higher deflections of pipe. The crack section is represented by a local flexibility matrix connecting two undamaged beam segments i.e. the crack is modelled as a rotational spring. Totally, as the velocity of fluid flow and the crack severity are increased, the mid-span deflection of simply supported pipe conveying fluid is increased. The time which produce the maximum dynamic deflection of the simply supported pipe is delayed according to the increment of the crack severity.

  • In order to attenuate structural waves in railway track, damped mass-spring absorber system and spring supported system are considered that are attached continuously along the beam length. A mathematical model is presented for the propagation of structural waves on a finitely long, periodically supported classical beam. The model in this paper could represent a railway track where the beam represents the rail and an appropriately chosen support type represents the pad/sleeper/ballast system of a railway track. And in this study, it is presented that the measurement method of health monitoring of railway track.

  • The influence of torsional rigidity of hinged flexible appendage on the linear dynamics of flexible spacecrafts with liquid on board was analyzed by considering the spacecraft's main body as a rigid tank, its flexible appendages as two elastically supported elastic beams, and the onboard liquid as an ideal liquid. The meniscus of the liquid free surface due to surface tension was considered. Using the Lagrangian of the spacecraft's main body (rigid tank), onboard liquid, and two beams (flexible appendages) in addition to assuming the system moved symmetrically, the coupled system frequency equations were obtained by applying the Rayleigh-Ritz method. The influence of the torsional rigidity of the flexible appendages on the spacecraft's coupled vibration characteristics was primary focus of investigation. It was found that coupled vibration modes especially that of appendage considerably changed with torsion spring parameter ${\kappa}_t$ of the flexible appendage. In addition, variation of the main body displacement with system parameters was investigated.

  • The vibration of elastically supported bidirectional functionally graded (BDFG) sandwich beams on an elastic foundation is investigated. The sandwich structure is composed of upper and lower layers of BDFG material and the core layer of isotropic material. Material properties of upper and lower layers are assumed to vary continuously along the length and thickness of the beam with a power-law function. Hamilton's principle is used to deduce the vibration equations of motion of the sandwich Timoshenko beam. Then, the partial differential equation of motion is spatially discretized into a time-varying ordinary differential equation in terms of Chebyshev differential matrices. The eigenvalue equation associated with the free vibration is formulated to study the influence of various slenderness ratios, material gradient indexes, thickness ratios, foundation and support spring constants on the vibration frequency of BDFG sandwich beams. The present method can provide researchers with deep insight into the impact of various geometric, material, foundation and support parameters on the vibration behavior of BDFG sandwich beam structures.

  • For the prediction of the real vibration and stability behaviour of rotor-beaing systems, various additional effects were considered, which are simplified or neglected by conventional modeling of real rotors. These are specially coupled spring and damping coefficients of journal bearings, spring and damping coefficients of external supporting elements for bearings, static load exerting on gears or pulleys by power transmissions, excitation through the gear tolerance or failure, and positive or negative spring and damping characteristics of magnetic or sealing friction force. Considering these effects, a computer program for the calculation of free and forced vibration of rotating shafts supported by two or more bearings is developed, based on the transfer matrixed method. The reliability of the calculated resutls were ascertianed by comparing with the measured data on high speed rotors supported by two journal bearings.
