다중 심벌 검파를 이용한 트렐리스 부호화된 대역 확산 통신 시스템 (Trellis Coded Spread Spectrum with the multiple symbol detection)

  • 본 논문에서는 직접대역확산통신시스템에서 코딩 이득을 향상시키고자 다중 심벌 검파를 수행하는 트렐리스 부호화 변조를 적용하였다. $MDPSK(\pi/4 shift QPSK)$를 트렐리스 부호화된 직접대역확산시스템 적용하고 정보가 인접한 채널 신호의 위상차에 전송된다는 것을 이용하여 1차 위상차 뿐만 아니라 다중위상차를 추출한다. BER특성을 향상시키기 위해, 이러한 다중 위상차를 이용하여 $MDPSK(\pi/4 shift QPSK)$에서 다중 심벌 검파를 수행하는 트렐리스 부호화된 직접대역확산시스템의 비터비 디코더 알고리듬을 설계하여 향상된 코딩 이득을 얻고자 한다. 이러한 시스템을 직접대역확산통신시스템에 적용하였을 때 얻을 수 있는 코딩 이득은 시뮬레이션 결과, AWGN채널에서 TCM의 콘볼류션부호화기의 상태수 4, 8, 16에 따라 3-4dB 정도의 성능향상이 있으며, 레일레이 페이딩 채널에서는 4-5dB정도의 성능 향상이 있음을 알 수 있다. 일반적으로 상태수가 증가할수록 더 큰 코딩 이득을 얻을 수 있다.

  • 직교코드를 다중화하여 데이터 비트열을 확산시켜 전송하는 멀티코드 대역확산 통신시스템의 큰 단점은 여러 코드의 합이 멀티레벨이 되어 선형성이 좋은 증폭기를 요구한다는 것이다. Walsh 코드 및 확장 $m$-시퀀스를 직교 확산코드로 사용하는 멀티코드 대역확산 시스템에서 입력 데이터를 부호화함으로써 다중 코드의 합을 일정 진폭으로 만드는 방식이 제안되어 있다. 본 논문에서는 정진폭 확장 $m$-시퀀스 기반 시스템에서 송신 신호의 정진폭화를 위해 부가로 전송되는 동반코드를 수신기에서도 이용함으로써 비트오율 성능을 개선하는 알고리즘을 제안하였다. 제안된 수신기에서는 코드검출 과정에서 1 개의 검출 오류가 있는 경우 오류를 정정하는 능력을 가져서 비트오율 성능이 개선된다. 제안된 방식의 타당성을 검증하기 위하여 시뮬레이션을 수행하였으며, 기본 수신기를 사용한 경우에 비해 성능이 개선되는 것을 확인하였다.

A Survey of Security Mechanisms with Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum Signals

  • Security has long been a challenging problem in wireless networks, mainly due to its broadcast nature of communication. This opens up simple yet effective measures to thwart useful communications between legitimate radios. Spread spectrum technologies, such as direct sequence spread spectrum (DSSS), have been developed as effective countermeasures against, for example, jamming attacks. This paper surveys previous research on securing a DSSS channel even further, using physical layer attributes-keyless DSSS mechanisms, and watermarked DSSS (WDSSS) schemes. The former has been motivated by the fact that it is still an open question to establish and share the secret spread sequence between the transmitter and the receiver without being noticed by adversaries. The basic idea of the latter is to exploit the redundancy inherent in DSSS's spreading process to embed watermark information. It can be considered a counter measure (authentication) for an intelligent attacker who obtains the spread sequence to generate fake messages. This paper also presents and evaluates an adaptive DSSS scheme that takes both jam resistance and communication efficiency into account.

  • We propose a new matched filter architecture for chirp spread spectrum in IEEE 802.15.4a. By using relations among the four subchirps, the proposed architecture comprises four subfilters utilizing only a set of coefficients matched to the first subchirp. The four subfilters share adders and registers, and as a result, the required adders and registers for implementation are reduced.

  • Nowadays, it is popular to use the spread spectrum watermarking algorithm for still image. But there is high error probability of the retrieved watermark in the spread spectrum owing to the correlation between image and spreaded watermark sequence. In this paper, two methods are proposed. One is Ordering Map Method and the other is Alteration of Image. Based on pixel value, the order by which the spreaded watermark bits is embedded is created in Ordering Map Method. By the covariance function between image and the spreaded sequence, image is altered in Alteration of Image. Hence, bit error of retrieved watermark is clearly reduced to zero by this two method.

  • 본 논문에서는 대역확산 통신을 위하여 웨이브렛 패킷 영역에서 다중적응필터뱅크를 이용하여 간섭신호를 제거할 수 있는 적응간섭제거기를 제안하고 Monte-Carlo 시뮬레이션을 이용하여 AWGN과 간섭채널에서 LMS와 RLS 적응알고리즘이 적용된 간섭제거기에 따른 대역확산통신시스템의 성능을 분석하였다.

  • In this paper, we propose the new audio watermarking method and can be used on line processing. Instead of the wavelet transform, we use the integer wavelet transform for the reduction of the computational load. The watermark associated with the chi-square distribution is inserted into the signal on the integer wavelet domain. When extracting the watermark, the spread spectrum methods are used with the coefficients associated with the covariance sequence. We show that the chi-square distribution is a good tool for the spread spectrum method on the wavelet domain. This watermarking technique may be used for the control of the electrical product which can be controlled with the hidden signals and can be moved according to the audible signals simultaneously.

  • This paper presents the new power line coupler which is applicable to spread spectrum power line communications. The proposed coupler maintains the adequate value of a capacitor between the transmitter mode and the receiver mode using a switch. In the transmit mode, the relatively high value of the capacitor is chosen to minimize the attenuation of transmitted signals. In the receiver mode, the value of the capacitor is chosen to be small enough so that the coupler attenuates power line noises. This coupler reduced the magnitude distortion due to having a high Q value and the power consumption caused by the AC current flowing into the capacitor. The simulation and measurement results show the improved performance in the transmitter and receiver mode, respectively.

  • In conducting indoor positioning by code division multiple access using spread spectrum ultrasonic waves, it is required to detect signals under the influence of near-far problem occurred by difference on signal power, caused by distance between transmitter and receiver. For discussing robustness to the problem, we verified measuring accuracy on distance from an experiment on a real space with a hardware device where our proposed method is mounted. The proposed method performs automatic signal detection by setting threshold level dynamically. As an experimental result, measurable distance were improved by the proposed method, and measurement errors were up to 50mm in distances from 1000mm to 6000mm; therefore, enough accuracy to realize self-localization or navigation for autonomous mobile robot or human was obtained.

  • A hybrid DS/SFH spread spectrum system is used to achieve a larger gain in some applications. The probability of error for a hybrid DS/SFH(direct sequence/slow frequency hopped) spread-spectrum system is calculated over a channel which suffers from multiple-tone jamming and additive white Gaussian noise. BPSK(binary phase shift keying) is considered as modulation scheme. The probability of error is computed for various system parameters such as a DS/SFH hybrid ratio, the number of jamming tones, a jamming-to-signal ratio, and a siganl-to-noise ratio. It is shown that a DS system or a SFH system achieves smaller probability of error than a hybrid DS/SFH system for most values of system parameters. However, it is also shown that there are hybrid ratios with which a hybrid DS/SFH system achieves smaller probability of error than a DS system and a SFH system achieve for some values of system parameters.
