스프레이 코팅 증착 방식을 이용한 계층적 미세 구조의 발수표면 제작 및 특성 분석에 대한 연구 (Study on the Fabrication and Characterization of Hydrophobic Surface with Hierarchical Microstructure using Spray Coating Deposition Method)

  • This research introduces an innovative approach for fabricating microstructure surfaces using spray-coating deposition. The resulting surface, referred to as Magnetically Responsive Microstructures (MRM), exhibits hierarchically structured micro-pillar arrays with remarkably high aspect ratios. The fabrication process involves precisely mixing PDMS and hexane with Carbonyl iron powders, followed by ultrasonication and spray-coating on the top of a PDMS substrate placed on the neodymium magnet. The MRM surface shows hydrophobic properties, characterized by a contact angle surpassing 150° and an aspect ratio exceeding 10. Through a comprehensive exploration of critical parameters, including spray amount, magnet-substrate distance, and solution ratio enhanced dynamic tunability and exceptional hydrophobic characteristics are attained. This novel approach holds significant potential for diverse applications in the realm of dynamically tunable microstructures and magnetically responsive surfaces.

진공 저온 분사 공정을 통해 형성된 Fe계 비정질 재료의 적층거동 및 미세구조 변화 관찰 (Deposition Behavior and Microstructure of Fe-based Amorphous Alloy Fabricated by Vacuum Kinetic Spraying Process)

  • Fe-based amorphous coatings were fabricated on a soda-lime glass substrate by the vacuum kinetic spray method. The effect of the gas flow rate, which determines particle velocity, on the deposition behavior of the particle and microstructure of the resultant films was investigated. The as-fabricated microstructure of the film was studied by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) and high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM). Although the activation energy for transformation from the amorphous phase to crystalline phase was lowered by severe plastic deformation and particle fracturing under a high strain rate, the crystalline phases could not be found in the coating layer. Incompletely fractured and small fragments 100~300 nm in size, which are smaller than initial feedstock material, were found on the coating surface and inside of the coating. Also, some pores and voids occurred between particle-particle interfaces. In the case of brittle Fe-based amorphous alloy, particles fail in fragmentation fracture mode through initiation and propagation of the numerous small cracks rather than shear fracture mode under compressive stress. It could be deduced that amorphous alloy underwent particle fracturing in a vacuum kinetic spray process. Also, it is considered that surface energy caused by the formation of new surfaces and friction energy contributed to the bonding of fragments.

자연대류를 고려한 스프레이 코팅 룸에서의 온도분포 해석 (Numerical Analysis of Natural Convection inside Spray Coating Room on Temperature Distributions)

  • 아연말 코팅은 친환경성 및 고성능으로 인하여 널리 사용되고 있다. 일반적으로 코팅온도가 코팅층 두께 및 코팅 품질을 결정하는 주요한 요소이며 아연말 코팅의 경우에도 코팅 룸 내 균일하며 적절한 코팅온도가 요구된다. 본 연구에서는 일반적으로 사용하는 자연대류 상태에서의 아연말 스프레이 코팅 룸의 온도 분포를 해석하기 위해 룸 내부의 공기 유동을 포함하는 열 유동 전산 시뮬레이션을 수행하였다. 3차원 CAD 프로그램인 SolidWorks를 이용하여 스프레이 코팅 룸 전체와 예열실과 건조실을 모두 고려한 모델링을 수행하였으며 ANSYS의 FLUENT 프로그램을 이용하여 열 유동연성 해석을 수행하였다. 해석 결과 스프레이 코팅 룸에서의 온도 분포 특성을 파악할 수 있었으며, 현재의 상태로는 목표 온도 값인 $25^{\circ}C$에 미달하고 있었음을 알 수 있었다. 이에 두 가지 다른 경계조건 (히터를 추가하는 방법과 현재 상태에서 Open 부분을 닫는 방법) 에 대해 열 유동 시뮬레이션을 수행하였으며, 시뮬레이션 결과 히터를 추가하기보다는 Open된 부분을 닫는 방법이 더 좋은 결과를 나타내었다.

지르코니아 충전이 지르코니아계 용사코팅층의 마모마찰에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Sealing Process on the Tribological Behavior of the Plasma Spray Zirconia Based Coatings)

  • High temperature wear behavior of plasma sprayed zirconia based coating sealing with zirconia sol were investigated for high temperature wear resistance application. The zirconia powders containing 2.5, 5.0, 7.5, 10.0 mol% of MoS$_2$, $Fe_2O_3$ for plasma spray were made by spray drying method. As-sprayed coating was sealed by zirconia-sol to fill up the pore and crack in coating. wear test were performed at temperature ranges from room temperature to 600$\circ$C. The microstructural changes of before and after sealing process were examined by SEM, XRD and EPMA. After sealing process, the porosity was decreased and micro-hardness was increased. The wear properties of coating after sealing process were improved by sealing of pores and cracks. The behavior of wear amount and coefficient of friction were same tendency to before sealing process.

초음속 저온분사법에 의해 적층된 알루미늄 층의 재료 물성 (Material Properties of Thick Aluminum Coating Made by Cold Gas Dynamic Spray Deposition)

  • Cold gas dynamic spray is a relatively new coating process by which coatings can be produced without significant heating during the process. Cold-spray uses supersonic gas flow to carry metallic powders to the substrate. Its low process temperature can minimize thermal stress and also reduce the deformation of the substrate. Most researches on cold-spray have focused on micro scale coating, but in this study macro scale deposition was conducted. Properties of aluminum layer by cold-spray deposition such as coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE), modulus of elasticity. hardness, and electric conductivity were measured. The results showed that properties of aluminum layer by cold-spray deposition were different from properties of pure aluminum and aluminum alloy.

  • Thermal spray technology has been used in many industrial application. Especially, thermal spray coating have been employed with the purposes of achieving better resistances in abrasion, heat and corrosion. In the previous studies on the thermal spray coating, thermal spray characteristics from the perspective of combustion engineering have not been investigated sufficiently, while the material characteristics of the coated substrates have been investigated widely. In this study, the effect of spray particles on the flame behavior was experimentally investigated. The amount of the injected particles was measured using the light scattering method and the temperature of the particles was estimated using a two-color method. Various flame-spray interactions were observed and it was found that the high temperature zone near the flame is elongated by particles density. Based on these results, the applicability of the light scattering method and the two-color method was discussed.

모사 부식 환경에서 플라즈마 아크용사에 의한 Al 코팅의 부식특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on the Corrosion Behavior of Al Coatings Applied by Plasma Thermal Arc Spray under Simulated Environmental Conditions)

  • 건설산업에서 사용되는 구조용 강재의 부식은 산업화로 인해 많은 공격적인 이온이 내포된 대기 환경에서 증가추세에 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 아크 및 플라즈마 아크용사로 Al 코팅을 용착하여 Cl-와 CO32-같은 공격적인 이온을 다량 함유한 Society of Automotive Engineering(SAE) J2334 용액의 모사대기환경에서 그 효과를 비교하였다. 다양한 분석기법으로 코팅 특성과 부식 메커니즘을 고찰하였다. 플라즈마 아크용사로 용착된 Al 코팅은 밀도 있고 균일하면 층층이 적층이 잘 되었고 높은 부착력이 나타났다. 이 공법으로 용착된 Al 코팅을 SAE J2334 용액에 기간별로 침지하여 측정한 개회로전위(OCP)는 아크용사로 용착된 Al 코팅보다 더 양전성(electropositive)한 값을 보여주었다. 플라즈마 아크용사는 총 임피던스가 아크용사보다 높게 나타났다. SAE J2334 용액에 23일 침지하였을 때 플라즈마 아크용사 Al 코팅의 부식속도는 아크용사에 비해 20% 감소하였다.

  • WC-12-17%Co powders with nano- and micro-structures were deposited by cold spray process using nitrogen and helium gases. The results show that there is no detrimental phase transformation and/or decarburization of WC by cold spray deposition as expected. It is also observed that nano-sized WC in the feedstock powder is maintained in the cold spray deposition. It is demonstrated that it is possible to fabricate the nano-structured WC-Co coating with low porosity and very high hardness (-2050 HV) by cold spray deposition with reasonable powder preheating.

AE파형분류에 의한 용사코팅재의 파손해석 (Fracture Analysis of Plasma Spray Coating by Classification of AE Signals)

  • The deformation and fracture behaviors of both Al2O3 and Ni 4.5wt.%Al plasma thermal spray coating were investigated by an acoustic emission method. Plasma thermal spray coating is formed by a process in which melted particles flying with high speed towards substrate, then crash and spread on the substrate surface cooled and solidified in a very short time, stacking of the particles makes coating. A tensile test is conducted on notch specimens in a stress range below the elastic limit of substrate. A bendind test is done on smooth specimens. The waveforms of AE generated from the both test coating specimens can be classified by FFT analysis into two types which low frequency(type I) and high frequency(type II). The type I waveform is considered to corresponds exfoliation of coating layers and type II waveform corresponds the plastic deformation of notch tip. The fracture of the coating layers can estimate by AE event and amplitude, because AE features increase when the deformation generates.
