  • In this paper, the inverter spot welding system with high efficiency via an instantaneous power control is presented. In spot welding, instantaneous power control is utilized in order to attain less spatter and high welding performance. Also we proposed a PI controller for spot welder system using Evolution Strategy(ES) with varying search space. ES with varying search space which depends on fitness values at each generation is used to tune PI control parameters

  • Nowadays, a Spot Welding system has been widely used in all kinds of industries and the common control method of the systeme is a simple current control using SCR. But, that kind of system is less effective than a current control method using inverter. So, it is constantly proposed that an improvement of hard ware and control method of spot welding system in compliance with technological advancement in power electronics. This paper deals with spot welding system using inverter. Especially, it deals with hard ware structure, features and output characteristics.

  • The resistance spot welding is one of the most commonly used welding process for joining the sheet metal in automotive manufacturing process due to higher deposition rates and higher economy achieved. Control variables in the resistance spot welding for achieving high quality are welding current, welding force and welding time. Generally at the manufacturing scene, welding current Vs welding time lobe diagram is used to estimate weldability because controlling welding force is not practical due to economical reasons. However new automotive steel plates have been developed to make lightweight automobiles and to improve resistance against rusting. Also the weldability of these steel plates are worst than the existing steel plates because of changing bare metal and surface plating effect. In consequence of above mentioned reasons, it is necessary to use welding force to present the lobe diagram. In this study, we obtained the welding force Vs welding current lobe diagram for commonly used GA steel plate and found that the second order repression model of tensile shear strength was useful in reducing the number of experiments, and the indentation, and thickness change during welding were used as a response to estimate quantitatively expulsion.

  • Spot welding, namely a kind of electric resisting welding has been used widely in field of automobile and aircraft industries because of easiness to apply. Specimens used in this study was a mild steel of 1.2mm thickness and the electrode was a Cu-Cr alloy of 6mm diameter. The surface sheared of specimens after testing of tensile shear was observed by SEM(scanning electron microscope) after ultrasonic cleaning for 10min., and microstructures and grain size of all specimens were measured with using of O.M.(Optical microscope). By the means of measurement and observations of tensile shear load, fatigue strength and share surface, the weldability of spot welding was evaluated. When tensile shearing testing, fracture starting point in all specimens was took place at the bond between HAZ(Heat affected zone) and nugget. With increasing in number of layers, fatigue strength was decreased. With increasing in electric current, grain size in the HAZ became more fine.

  • With increasing demand of energy saving, -many efforts were made to employ aluminium alloys in the automobile industry. Especially, resistance spot welding has been widely used in the steel metal joining process because of its high productively and convenience. In this paper, spot weldability of 7075-T6 aluminium thin sheets for various welding conditions were examined by series of experiments. The tensile shear strength and microstructure of welded specimens was observed, and The optimal welding conditions were found for each welding conditions.

  • Many microelectronic devices are miniaturizing the capacitance density and the size of the capacitor. Along with this miniaturization of electronic circuits, tantalum (Ta) capacitors have been on the market due to its large demands worldwide and advantages such as high volumetric efficiency, low temperature coefficient of capacitance, high stability and reliability. During a tantalum capacitor manufacturing process, arc welding has been used to weld base frame and sub frame. This arc welding may have limitations since the downsizing of the weldment depends on the size of welding electrode and the contact time may prevent from improving productivity. Therefore, to solve these problems, this study applies laser spot welding to weld nickel (Ni) and Au-Sn-Ni alloy using CW IR fiber laser with lap joint geometry. All laser parameters are fixed and the only control variable is laser irradiance time. Four different shapes, such as no melting upper workpiece, asymmetric spherical-shaped weldment, symmetric weldment, and, excessive weldment, are observed. This shape may be due to different temperature distribution and flow pattern during the laser spot cutting.

  • Resistance spot welding is commonly used for welding products of high quality because of clean welding and short w welding-time. But. conventional spot welders bring about the depreciation of welding products, iuespective of dynamic r resistance characteristics during welding time. This paper discussed dynamic resistance database implementation in t terms of welding performance improvement. On different welding conditions, we compared dynamic resistance, r respectively, about pure iron and Sn-Pb alloy on Copper. Also, it investigated the relation of tensile shear strength and d dynamic resistance in welded workpiece.

  • A servo gun welding system having a AC servo motor and a PC control system is presented for the improvement of quality control in the spot welding. The spot welding process is composed of the press stage, the weld stage, and the hold stage. The changes of gun press forces according to three stages in the spot welding process are controlled and measured through the load cell in order to know the influence on the welding quality.   • When welding a car frame with one spot welding there are same limitations because many parts of it cannot be simplified by one spot welding alone. It is presented two spot welding model for the description of the spot welding which is usually used in a car frame structure. This study primarily covers fatigue behavior taking spot welded SPCC(Steel plate carbon C) with different ungget intervals as a tension shear specimen. It was prepared that intervals between two nuggets are varied as 9mm, 14mm, and 20mm respectively. The tensile tests and fatigue tests were executed to know the mechanical properties under static and fatigue load condition. In addition, the relationship between fatigue life and nugget intervals was illustrated by finite element method.

  • In general, multi-lap spot weld joints are frequently present in automobile. Most research, however, has been focused on the single-lap spot weld joints until now. In this paper, tensile-shear strength tests are performed to examine the weldability of 3-lap spot joint welded by using the high strength steel sheet and the zinc coated steel sheet. The indentation depth and nugget diameter are used to propose the optimum welding conditions. The weldability is affected by the welding current and welding time for 3-lap spot joint. Meanwhile the expulsions is round to decrease with the increase of electrode force. The optimum welding conditions are presented for 3-lap spot joints of high strength steel sheet and zinc coated steel sheet.
