Current Issues and their Solutions in the Leisure Sports Tourism Industry

  • Purpose: The primary aim of this study is to investigate the current issues in the leisure sports tourism and propose viable solutions based on a comprehensive review of existing literature. The specific objectives are to: (1) Identify the key challenges facing the leisure sports tourism industry. (2) Analyze the impact of these challenges on the industry's growth and sustainability. (3) Review and synthesize existing research to propose evidence-based solutions. Research design, data and methodology: The preliminary search yielded an extensive list of articles. These articles underwent a rigorous screening process based on their titles and abstracts. The inclusion criteria were: (1) studies focused specifically on the leisure sports tourism industry, (2) empirical research providing data on the identified issues, and (3) peer-reviewed journal articles. Results: The leisure sports tourism industry faces several pressing issues requiring effective solutions to ensure sustainability and growth. This section provides four critical solutions addressing the identified challenges: environmental sustainability, infrastructure and facility management, seasonality and economic impact, and health and safety concerns. Conclusions: The findings highlight several actionable solutions to the current issues faced by the leisure sports tourism industry. This industry can achieve a more stable and sustainable growth trajectory by addressing environmental sustainability, infrastructure and facility management, seasonality, and health and safety concerns.

The Function Assumed of the Sports Leisure Industry in the Improvement of Living Standards for Senior Citizens

  • Purpose: The purpose of the current research is to investigate the contribution of the sports and leisure sector to raising elderly citizens' quality of life. Through this investigation, the sport and leisure sector may give seniors a sense of safety and security by creating a safe atmosphere in which they can engage in activities and feel a part of their communities. Research design, data and methodology: Literature data were extracted from previous studies between the role of the sports leisure sector and living quality for senior citizens using a standardized data extraction form by two independent reviewers after articles have been included in the review. Each study's data extraction includes details on the study's design, exposure, outcome metrics, and findings. Results: Based on the qualitative textual approach, the present author had figured out total four Functions assumed as follows: (A) Physical Activity and Exercise, (B) Socialization and Interaction, (C) Opportunities for Learning and Development, and (4) Emotional Wellbeing. Conclusions: All in all, professionals should try to give elders chances for social interaction and peer participation in order to foster a feeling of community and belonging. This might entail setting up groups or leagues for elders to engage in meaningful social activities, like hiking or sports.

Exploring Fundamental Concepts of Nature Sports

  • Purpose: This study sought to explore concepts and features of nature sports. In specific, this study reviewed literature discussing historical background of nature sport and its relationship with related fields including conservation, tourism, and education. Research design, data, and methodology: This study employed an integrated literature review approach. For this, the study collected prior studies and reports via google scholar. Further the collected studies were analyzed and major issues regarding concepts and features of nature sport were presented. Results: For results, various definitions of nature sports and similar activities were presented. The study found that nature sports labelled action sports, adventure sports, alternative sports, Californian sports, extreme sports, gravity sports, lifestyle sports, nature challenge activities, new sports, outdoor sports, panic sports, risk sports or whiz sports, among others. Nature sport involve interacting with a natural or material feature, rather than with other human beings. Furthermore, this study discovered features of nature sport, including nature based activities, sustainable activities, adventure and risk activities, hedonistic and non-competitive activities, and autonomous and individualistic activities. Conclusions: Nature sport has its own distinctive features compared with traditional sport, yet it shows similarities with constructive sport in terms of perceived benefits and so forth. Further implications were discussed.

The Effect of Air Pollution on Professional Sports in South Korea

  • Purpose: This study sought to explore the effects of air pollution on professional sports in South Korea. Research design, data, and methodology: The dependent variable, the number of attendances, was comprised of 2013-2017 K-league, 2015-2017 KBO, 2014-2017 KBL regular season games, resulting in 1,063, 2,121, 810 individual match-level observations, respectively. With the actual data collected from each place across the country, we created a categorical variable which identify the air quality index divided into four categories by K-eco (i.e., good, moderate, unhealthy, hazardous). To analyze data, ANOVA was employed. Results: First, there was a significant group effect on K-league attendance. Second, there was a significant group effect of KBO attendance. Lastly, there was a significant group effect on KBL attendance. Conclusions: Summary of above results showed that each professional sport leagues' attendance was significantly different depending on the levels of air pollution. Implications were also discussed. Analyzing the Intention of Sports Consumers' Purchase Behavior Through Online Sports Distributors

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze Korean sports consumers' intention to stay using online sports products and services through online sports distribution platforms or return to using sports facilities and services in person. Research design, data and methodology: This study set up two models measuring consumers' recognition, attitude, and purchase intention toward online sports products and services based on involvement theory. An online survey was conducted and a total of 2,263 consumers participated in this study. Male participants were 1,256(55.5%) and female participants were 1,007(44.5%). Descriptive statistics were performed, and a path analysis was utilized to analyze the proposed model using SPSS 26 and SAS. Results: The results revealed two proposed models used in this study supported that consumers' online sports product and service recognition leads to a positive attitude toward online sports products and services. Moreover, consumers' positive online sports product and service attitudes were shown to lead to positive intentions to purchase online sports products and services. Conclusions: The findings revealed the recognition of consumers' online sports products and services led to positive attitudes and behavioral intentions. Implications were provided by suggesting the sports industry stick to developing online sports products and services until the endemic of COVID-19 is declared.

Sports injuries and the changes in physical activity, perceived health state and exercise self-efficacy according to the sports injuries of the elderly who participate in physical activities (신체활동참여 노인의 운동손상과 운동손상유무에 따른 신체활동, 지각된 건강상태 및 운동자기효능감의 차이)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to describe sports injuries among elderly people and to compare physical activity, perceived health status and exercise self-efficacy between elderly people who had experienced a sports injury and elderly people who hadn't. Methods: The sample of this study were 100 elderly in Korea, 51 of whom had had a sports injury. The study used questionnaires to gather data. There were 8 demographic factors, 4 factors related to physical activity, perceived health status and exercise self-efficacy of the subjects. Data were analyzed by frequencies, chi-square test, and t-test. Result: Among the sports injured elders, one occurrence of a sport injury was 86.3%. There were more outdoor than indoor sports injuries of elders (66.7%), and sports injuries of elders occurred more in the winter (82.7%). The major cause of the sports injuries was loss of balance. Ankles were frequently damaged from these injuries. The most significant change after the sports injury was reduction of physical activity (60.8%). There were significant differences between sports injured elderly and non-injured elderly for age (${\chi}^2=2.58$, p=.011) and the amount of physical activity (t=1.96, p=.050), but there was no significant difference in perceived health status and exercise self-efficacy. Conclusion: To prevent sports injuries in the elderly means to maintain a medium level of physical activity and to improve their balance.

The Effects of Exercise Adherence due to the Leisure Satisfaction of Marine Sports Participants (해양스포츠참여자의 여가만족이 운동지속에 미치는 영향)

  • This research is to investigate the effects of exercise adherence due to the leisure satisfaction of marine sports participants. In this paper, we will provide a basic database to vitalize marine sports. In order to analyze the result, we conducted a survey targeting 326 participants from 2010 Busan metropolitan city marine sports. The following results are obtained after analyze the data using SPSS/PC+ Win. 15.0 with a correlation analysis and a multiple regression analysis. First, all of the sub-factors from leisure satisfaction and exercise adherence show a positive correlation after analyzing the relationship between the leisure satisfaction and the exercise adherence of marine sports participants. Second, after analyzing the effects of exercise adherence according to the leisure satisfaction of marine sports participants, the result showed that the egoistic satisfaction influences the exercise capacity. Therefore, the data shows that the psychological satisfaction affects exercise environment, exercise companion, exercise habits and exercise attention.

  • Recently, various types of information and communication technology (ICT) such as cloud computing, big data, and virtual reality have been progressed in the world. Also, it is expected that there are many domestic and foreign visitors in Gangwon-do due to the Pyeongchang winter olympic games in 2018. In this environment, it is necessary to improve the competitiveness of Gangwon-do in winter sports areas exploiting both existing IT infrastructure and application technologies. In this paper, for sustainable development of Gangwon-do winter sports IT industry after the Olympics, we propose efficient implementation methods of 3 winter sports IT convergence services and Gangwon-do ICT activation strategy. The proposed 3 winter sports IT service areas are as follows. 1) Realistic winter sports IT service, 2) Winter sports medical IT service 3) Winter sports record analysis IT service.

  • Purpose: This study started with interest in sport culture and is meaningful as an exploratory study to help with the basic understanding of sport culture research. Research design, data, and methodology: The approach of this study is the exploratory approach by literature reviews. This study carried out exploratory research on thinking about diversity of sports culture and the development process of sports culture by human history periods. Results: First, in thinking about cultural diversity, cultural absolutism and cultural relativism were identified. The characteristics of sports culture can identify universality, individuality and diffusion, and the attributes of sports culture included sharing, learning, accumulation, whole systematic relationship and change. Second, the characteristics of sports culture were identified by the approach of each historical era. The historical stages were divided into ancient civilizations, ancient Greece and Rome, middle ages and early modern period, and late modern period. Sports have historically been found to have a British-centered European origin or popularized in the United States. Conclusions: with the characteristics of modern sports culture, the globalization of sports culture, the prominence of sports industry and sports space marketing, and the symbiotic influence relationship of sports and mass media were examined and future directions were discussed.

Reviews Key Features of Word-Of-Mouth (WOM) Advertising and Their Impact on Sports Consumer

  • Purpose: This study sought to investigate the critical features of Word of mouth (WOM) advertising and their impact on sport consumer behavior. Research design, data, and methodology: Target population of the study consisted of all sports consumer of the Federation of Special Patients and Organ Transplantation, Tehran (Iran), who had indirectly watched the World Organ Transplant Competition documentary at least once on others' advice. For this purpose, 360 sports consumers of the federation were purposefully selected and they were asked to complete the standard WOM advertising questionnaire of Asda and Ko. Pearson correlation coefficient test and modeling of structural equations were performed using Spss24 and Smart PLS software at an error level of 0.05 used to analyze the data. Results: The findings show that there is a significant relationship between experience and expertise, trust and validity, content richness, and the power of message transmission through WOM advertising and its predictability. Finally, interpersonal relationships and work involvement also had a moderating role in this regard. Conclusions: The general conclusion is that the components of WOM advertising as well as involvement and homophily with the mediating role directly as one of the presuppositions for persuasion. The sports consumer was promoting WOM.
