The Effects of E-sports Broadcasting Commentator's Attributes on Broadcasting Attitude and Continuous Viewing Intention

  • The purpose of this study is to determine the impact of broadcasters' broadcasting commentators' attributes on broadcasting conditions and the intention of continuous viewing of e-sports competitions. To achieve this goal, a survey was conducted on 300 university students who had experience watching e-sports competition broadcasting. The final 295 copies were selected as the final valid samples and data processing was carried out. Using SPSS 23, factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, and simple and multiple regression analysis were performed. The result of this study was: First, reliability and attractiveness among the sub-factors of commentator attributes were shown to have a positive effect on broadcasting conditions. Second, reliability and attractiveness among the sub-factors of commentator attributes have a positive effect on the intent of continuous viewing. Third, broadcasting conditions have a positive effect on the intention of continuous viewing.

  • The purpose of this research is to organize panels centered on professional workers and experts in the sports media industry, identify structures and items of sports media commentators' attributes that conform to the present era through the collective agreement process, and evaluate the derived measures according to the scale development procedure. We would like to shed new light on the nature of commentators due to the rapid development of broadcasting technology and the emergence of new media platforms, the emergence and expansion of smart media receptors and the changing environment of modern sports broadcasting. For this purpose, a panel of experts from academia and industry related to sports management and sports media was organized and the attributes of commentators were analyzed using the Delphi method. Technology development in the sports market has created a new sports consumption environment. In these consumer environments, various environmental factors influence the consumer's consumption culture of sports consumers. For example, professional information, as well as interpretations of sports culture, history and society are becoming their share for sports commentators, and viewers are demanding more diverse characteristics from sports commentators. In this respect, the study of sports commentator attributes can be a deep understanding of the rapidly changing culture of sports consumption.

  • Sport commentators play an increasingly influential role in commercial sports broadcasting. Public trust is regarded as one of the most significant qualifications for sport commentators and this study used a Fuzzy AHP method in deciding the relative importance of professionalism, reliability, dynamic, and narrative skill. Based on the results, we conducted an evaluation of the public trust for the four SBS sport commentators for the 2010 South-Africa World Cup. The conclusion showed that professionalism and narrative skill were regarded as the most important factors for sport commentators to gain public trust. Among the four commentators evaluated, commentator # 1 got highest score overall, the soccer expert group highly appreciated commentator # 2, and the non-expert group highly appreciated commentator # 3.

Social Big Data-based Co-occurrence Analysis of the Main Person's Characteristics and the Issues in the 2016 Rio Olympics Men's Soccer Games (소셜 빅데이터 기반 2016리우올림픽 축구 관련 이슈 및 인물에 대한 연관단어 분석)

  • This paper seeks to better understand the focal issues and persons related to Rio Olympic soccer games through social data science and analytics. This study collected its data from online news articles and comments specific to KOR during the Olympic football games. In order to investigate the public interests for each game and target persons, this study performed the co-occurrence words analysis. Then after, the study applied the NodeXL software to perform its visualization of the results. Through this application and process, the study found several major issues during the Rio Olympic men's football game including the following: the match between KOR and PIJ, KOR player Heungmin Son, commentator Young-Pyo Lee, sportscaster Woo-Jong Jo. The study also showed the general public opinion expressed positive words towards the South Korean national football team during the Rio Olympics, though there existed negative words as well. Furthermore the study revealed positive attitude towards the commentators and casters. In conclusion, the way to increase the public's interest in big sporting events can be achieved by providing the following: contents that include various professional sports analysis, a capable domain expert with thorough preparation, a commentator and/or caster with artistic sense as well as well-spoken, explanatory power and so on. Multidisciplinary research combined with sports science, social science, information technology and media can contribute to a wide range of theoretical studies and practical developments within the sports industry.

Analysis of the Importance and Satisfaction of Viewing Quality Factors among Non-Audience in Professional Baseball According to Corona 19 (코로나 19에 따른 프로야구 무관중 시청품질요인의 중요도, 만족도 분석)

  • The data processing of this study is focused on keywords related to 'Corona 19 and professional baseball' and 'Corona 19 and professional baseball no spectators', using text mining and social network analysis of textom program to identify problems and view quality. It was used to set the variable of For quantitative analysis, a questionnaire on viewing quality was constructed, and out of 270 survey respondents, 250 questionnaires were used for the final study. As a tool for securing the validity and reliability of the questionnaire, exploratory factor analysis and reliability analysis were conducted, and IPA analysis (importance-satisfaction) was conducted based on the questionnaire that secured validity and reliability, and the results and strategies were presented. As a result of IPA analysis, factors related to the image (image composition, image coloration, image clarity, image enlargement and composition, high-quality image) were found in the first quadrant, and the second quadrant was the game situation (support team game level, support player game level, star). Player discovery, competition with rival teams), game information (match schedule information, player information check, team performance and player performance, game information), interaction (consensus with the supporting team), and some factors appeared. The factors of commentator (baseball-related knowledge, communication ability, pronunciation and voice, use of standard language, introduction of game-related information) and interaction (real-time communication with the front desk, sympathy with viewers, information exchange such as chatting) appeared.
