Curcumin supplementation attenuates the decrease in endothelial function following eccentric exercise

  • [Purpose] Eccentric exercise induces a decrease in vascular endothelial function. Curcumin, a major component of turmeric, has potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that are associated with vascular protective effects. The present study examined the effect of acute supplementation of curcumin on eccentric exercise-induced endothelial dysfunction in healthy young men. [Methods] Fourteen healthy sedentary young men (range, 21-29 years) were assigned to either the curcumin (n = 6) or placebo (n = 8) group. All subjects consumed either curcumin or placebo before exercise, and eccentric exercise of the elbow flexors was performed with their nondominant arm. Before and 60 min after exercise, brachial artery flow-mediated dilation (FMD), as an indicator of endothelial function, was measured in the non-exercised arm. [Results] Brachial artery FMD significantly decreased following eccentric exercise (p < 0.05) in the placebo group, but acute supplementation with curcumin before exercise nullified this change. The change in FMD before and after eccentric exercise between the placebo and curcumin groups was significantly different (p < 0.05). [Conclusion] The present study found that acute curcumin supplementation could attenuate the decrease in endothelial function, as measured by FMD, following eccentric exercise in healthy young men.

Using physical activity levels to estimate energy requirements of female athletes

  • [Purpose] The goal of this study was to review data on physical activity level (PAL), a crucial index for determining estimated energy requirement (EER), calculated as total energy expenditure (TEE, assessed with doubly labeled water [DLW]) divided by resting metabolic rate (RMR, PAL = TEE/RMR) in female athletes and to understand the methods of assessing athletes' EERs in the field. [Methods] For the PAL data review among female athletes, we conducted a PubMed search of the available literature related to the DLW method. DLW studies measuring TEE and RMR were included for the present review. [Results] Briefly, the mean PAL was 1.71 for collegiate swimmers with moderate training, which was relatively low, but the mean PAL was 3.0 for elite swimmers during summer training camp. This shows that PAL can largely vary even within the same sport depending on the amount of training, and the differences in PAL were remarkable depending on the sport. Aside from the DLW method, there is currently no research tool related to athletes' EERs that can be used in the field. 초등학교 스포츠강사의 전문가주의와 직무소진, 이직의도의 구조적 관계 (Structural Relationship among Professionalism of Elementary School Sport Instructors, Job Burnout and Turnover Intention)

  • 이 연구의 목적은 초등학교 스포츠강사의 전문가주의와 직무소진, 이직의도의 구조적 관계를 규명하는 것이다. 이를 위하여 전문가주의를 독립변수로, 직무소진을 매개변수로 선정하고, 이직의도를 종속변수로 각각 구성 하였다. 자료수집은 편의표본추출법을 이용하여 초등학교 스포츠강사를 대상으로 수집하였으며, 총 253부의 자료가 연구에 활용되었다. 자료처리는 IBM SPSS Ver. 20.0과 AMOS 18.0을 이용하여 빈도분석, 신뢰도분석, 상관분석, 확인적 요인분석, 그리고 구조방정식 모형분석을 하였다. 모형의 적합도를 확인한 후 개별 가설들을 검증하여 다음과 같은 결과를 도출하였다. 첫째, 전문가주의는 직무소진에 부적인 영향을 미쳤다. 둘째, 직무소진은 이직의도에 정적인 영향을 미쳤다. 셋째, 전문가주의는 이직의도에 통계적으로 영향을 미치지 않았다.

국내 스포츠 마케팅 기업의 창업 성공요인에 관한 사례연구 (Case Study on the Success Factors of Sport Marketing Companies in Korea)

  • 이 연구는 국내 스포츠마케팅 회사의 성공요인에 대한 사례를 조사하는데 그 목적이 있다. 스포츠마케팅 관련 서적, 연구논문, 관련 문헌과 인터넷을 이용하여 4개의 스포츠마케팅 기업이 사례로 선정되었다. 결과분석은 질적연구의 내용분석법을 이용하였다. 사업에 대한 마케팅 전략 및 매출처 분석에 대한 심층 분석이 실시되었으며, 내용분석의 가치성을 높이기 위하여 3명의 전문가로부터 동료 검증을 받았다. 이러한 자료수집과 분석을 통해 도출된 결론으로는 첫째, 성공적인 마케팅 기업들은 대규모의 자본으로 사업에 성공하고 있었다. 둘째, 선택과 집중전략을 사용하였다. 셋째, 전략적이고 신중한 계획을 가지고 있으며, 그들만의 노하우를 사용하고 있었다. 마지막으로, 매스미디어를 이용하여 다양한 전략들을 개발하여 사업시장을 확장하고 있었다.

Kinematic Analysis of Back Somersault Pike According to Skill Level in Platform Diving

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate kinematic differences in back pike somersault in platform diving according to skill level and to apply the findings to improve performance. Method: Korean divers participating in this study were divided into a skilled group (age: $21.6{\pm}4.16y$, height: $1.68{\pm}0.03m$, weight: $62.0{\pm}3.94kg$, career: $12.6{\pm}5.13y$) and a less-skilled group (age: $20.6{\pm}2.7y$, height: $1.72{\pm}0.05m$, weight: $64.8{\pm}6.76kg$, career: $12.2{\pm}2.49y$) and an independent t-test was performed to analyze differences between groups at the moment of takeoff. Results: The two groups showed significant differences in displacement and velocity of center of mass (COM), takeoff angle, hip joint angle, knee joint angular velocity, and hip joint angular velocity at the takeoff (p<.05), and significant differences in displacement of COM, hip joint, and ankle joint during flight (p<.05). Conclusion: For a successful back pike, the COM should rise quickly in the vertical direction and the hip joint angle and angular velocity should increase. To improve performance, the back pike turn should be practiced on the ground before an attempt on a 10-m platform, to stretch the ankle and knee joints and enable quick flexion of the hip joint when turning in flight.

골프선수의 셀프리더십과 자기관리 및 스포츠자신감의 구조적관계 (The Structural Relationship Among Self-Leadership, Self-Management, and Sport Confidence of Golf Players)

  • 본 연구는 골프선수들의 셀프리더십과 자기관리 및 스포츠자신감의 구조적 관계를 규명하는데 목적이 있다. 편의표집법을 이용하여 골프선수 447명의 자료를 수집하였다. 도구로는 셀프리더십 질문지와 자기관리 척도, 그리고 스포츠자신감 질문지가 이용되었다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS 18.0을 이용하여 탐색적 요인분석과 상관관계를 시행하고 AMOS 18.0를 이용하여 확인적 요인분석과 구조방정식모형(SEM)에 의한 변인간의 인과적 관계 및 다집단 분석을 실시하였다. 연구모형은 셀프리더십이 자기관리와 스포츠자신감에 영향을 미치고, 자기관리가 스포츠자신감에 영향을 미치는지를 규명하기 위한 것이다. 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 골프선수의 셀프리더십은 자기관리에 긍정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 골프선수의 셀프리더십은 스포츠자신감에 긍정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 골프선수의 자기관리는 스포츠자신감에 긍정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 성별에 따른 셀프리더십과 자기관리 및 스포츠자신감의 관계는 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다.

장시간 고온 환경 노출시 수분의 섭취가 프로골프선수들의 신체피로도 및 심박수에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Sport Drink Ingestion on the Physical Fatigue Level and Heart Rate during Prolonged Exposure in Hot Ambient Temperature in Professional Golfers)

  • We investigated the effects of prolonged exposure in hot environmental condition and ingestion of fluid on various physiological variables including plasma glucose, lactate, the rating of perceived exertion (RPE), and heart rate as well as golf putting performance. Six male professional golfers were voluntarily participated in three different putting trials which were separated by seven days of time interval period. Three different putting trials were conducted at either 20℃ or 32℃, or 32℃ + Fluid ingestion. Performing 32℃ + Fluid ingestion trial, all subject ingested sport drink as much as their body mass was decreased. For each experiment, all subjects were undertaken total 48 putting, which separated by four x 12 putting in four different time points (i.e., Rest, 1 hr, 2 hr, and 3 hr). Plasma glucose concentration was significantly decreased with hot ambient condition but it was almost fully recovered by fluid ingestion. Plasma lactate concentration was significantly higher when subjects were exposed in hot environmental condition, and it did not change with fluid ingestion. There was a no different in putting performance and psychological fatigue level (performed by GRID test) at any environmental conditions. The RPE, commonly used for evaluating of physical fatigue level, was significantly dropped by fluid ingestion which indicates lower physical fatigue level. In addition to this, heart rate (HR) was also significantly decreased after fluid ingestion. Based on these results, it was concluded that the ingestion of fluid during prolonged exposure in hot ambient condition decrease the degree of physical fatigue levels and heart rate, which will possibly improve the golf performance when exposed in extreme weather condition in summer. 프로스포츠 관람동기가 팀 동일시, 관람의도 및 브랜드 태도에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Pro-Sport Spectator on Team Identification, Inspection Intention, Brand Attitude)

  • 본 연구는 프로스포츠 소비자의 심리적 애착정도를 태도적 차원의 동일시와 행위적 차원의 동일시로 구분하고 아울러 프로스포츠팀과 관련된 동기요인(성적에 대한 관심, 선수의 능력, 선수의 매력성)과 스포츠 구단의 관람의도, 스폰서십 효과(스폰서 브랜드 태도)와 어떠한 영향 관계가 있는지를 살펴보고자 하는 것이다. 대부분 선행연구들이 이러한 관계를 단편적인 수준에서 측정했으며, 아물러 구단과 스폰서십의 동시적 영향관계를 규명한 연구가 없었던 것이 사실이다. 이에 본 연구는 이러한 관계를 구조방정식 모델의 검증을 통하여 해당 가설을 검증한 결과 첫째, 팀관련 관람동기의 대부분이 태도적 동일시를 거쳐 행위적 동일시로 이어지는 것으로 나타났으며, 둘째, 심리적애착정도와 관람의도, 스폰서십 효과와의 관계에 있어서는 태도적 동일시의 경우 관람의도와 스폰서십 브랜드 태도에 긍정적 영향 관계가 있는 것으로 나타났으나, 행위적 동일시의 경우에는 관람의도에만 긍정적 영향 관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 연구의 시사점 및 한계와 향후 연구방향이 토의되었다.

태권도 품새 우수·비 우수선수 간 앞차고 몸돌아 옆차기의 성·패에 따른 균형성 비교 (Comparison between the Balance of Skilled and Less-Skilled Players during Successful and Failed Front Kick and Turning Side Kick Motions)

  • The aim of this study is to identify the appropriate movement for maintaining postural balance during Front Kick and Turning Side Kick motions. To do so, ten Taekwondo athletes: five skilled players(S, body mass: $65.0{\pm}5.8kg$, height: $172.3{\pm}3.7cm$, age: $20.0{\pm}1.2yrs$, career: $9.0{\pm}1.9yrs$) and five less-skilled players(LS, body mass: $67.1{\pm}5.5kg$, height: $173.2{\pm}5.1cm$, age: $19.4{\pm}1.7yrs$, career: $9.6{\pm}1.7yrs$) participated in this study. A three-dimensional motion analysis was performed on the participants using eight infrared cameras and two force plate(sampling frequency of 200 Hz and 2000 Hz for S and LS players, respectively). The participants' motions were divided into: a front-kick phase(P1) and a turning-side-kick phase(P2). For P2(p<.05), the range and root mean square(RMS) of the ground reaction torque and the M-L mean velocity of COP were greater for LS than for S; similarly, for P2(p<.05), the M-L range, A-P range, and velocity of the COP were greater for LS than for S. Further, the M-L range and maximum velocity of the COP was greater for failure than for success(p<.05). The femoral biceps muscle for bending the knee joint was significantly stronger in S than in LS(p<.05). It is expected that these results will be useful in developing a training program for improving the balance and stability of Taekwondo poomsae athletes and improve their front-kick and turning-side-kick motions.

죽도 무게변화에 따른 검도 머리치기 동작의 운동학적 분석 (Kinematical Analysis on the Head Hitting Motion Based on Weight Change of Bamboo Swords)

  • This study was performed to investigate the kinematic factors on the head hitting motion based on weight change of bamboo swords in kumdo. The kinematic factors, needed time per phase, COB displacement and velocity, angle(wrist, elbow, shoulder joint, hip joint, knee joint), were analyzed by the 3-D motion analysis method against 6 male middle school athletes. The results were as follows. 1. The needed time of head hitting motion based on weight change of bamboo swords was shorter when weight was heavier. 2. The COB displacement of left/right was bigger when weight was heavier. the displacement of right foot was higher at backswing phase and impact phase when weight was heavier and at impact time when weight was lighter. 3. The COB velocity was faster at impact time when weight was heavier, the velocity of sword tip was fastest for each event with bamboo sword weight of 440 g. 4. The angle of left elbow was smaller at top of backswing and impact when weight was heavier, the angle of left shoulder was bigger when weight was heavier, the right knee angle was biger at start when weight was heavier, at impact when weight was lighter.
