Fabry disease is an X-linked lysosomal storage disorder caused by a deficiency of the enzyme ${\alpha}-galactosidase$ A, resulting in the accumulation of glycosphingolipids within the lysosomes of various cell types. It has a wide spectrum of clinical phenotypes, and renal failure is a serious complication. Fabry disease is confirmed either by measurement of ${\alpha}-galactosidase$ A activity or by genetic testing for GLA mutations. Renal biopsy findings on light microscopy, specifically enlarged podocytes with foamy cytoplasm, and osmiophilic inclusion bodies in the cytoplasm in all types of renal cells on electron microscopy, are characteristic of this disease. The predominant differential diagnosis is iatrogenic phospholipidosis in association with certain drugs that can cause cellular injuries indistinguishable from Fabry disease. Here, we report the case of a 10-year-old boy with microscopic hematuria who underwent a renal biopsy that showed morphological findings consistent with Fabry disease, although the patient had neither a GLA mutation nor a history of drug consumption. Six years later, spontaneous regression of this renal pathology was observed in a second renal biopsy examination.

Nodular lymphoid hyperplasia (NLH) is a benign lymphoproliferative disease that can affect the lung. Because of its rarity, little is known about the etiology and natural history of NLH. Most cases are usually asymptomatic and found incidentally on imaging studies. Imaging finding of NLH has shown most commonly as a solitary lesion, although multifocal pulmonary nodules may be seen. Surgical resection has proved curative in the cases previously described. We report a rare case of NLH in a 55 year-old man who presented with bilateral multiple pulmonary nodules on chest radiography. Open biopsy was performed from the upper and lower lobe of the left lung. The lesions were pathologically diagnosed as pulmonary NLH. Multifocal residual nodules in both lungs remain stable without spontaneous regression during the 3 years of follow-up.
To identify the factors influencing the charges per case of acute appendicitis and normal spontaneous vaginal delivery (NSVD), the personal data-base files and hospital-characteristics-reporting data files of Korea Medical Insurance Corporation were analyzed. One hundred and twenty-nine institutions were selected. The results of this study were as follows 1. The differences of charges per case with respect to hospital ownership, location, and equipment levels were statistically significant. 2. The results of multiple regression analysis revealed that bed capacity was the most significant variable in both diseases. 3. Ownership was significant variable in acute appendicitis. In NSVD, ownership and hospital equipment level were statistically significant. In conclusion, bed capacity was statistically the most significant variable in the analysis of charages per case. And we thought that the results of this study would influence the policy of the hospital bed supply.
The present investigation was undertaken to study whether tumor-associated macrophages of Daltons lymphoma (DL), a spontaneous transplantable T cell lymphoma can be activated to tumoricidal state by alcoholic extract of Tinospora cordifolia (ALTC). In vivo administration of ALTC (200 mg/kg body weight) in DL-bearing mice resulted in an enhanced RNI production and an augmented cytotoxic response of tumor-associated macrophages. Earlier we had reported that DL-bearing mice show a regression of thymus and an enlargement of spleen. In vivo administration of ALTC to DL-bearing hosts resulted in a decrease in the weight of spleen and counts of splenocytes along with an increase in the weight of thymus as compared to control DL-bearing mice. In vivo administration of ALTC in DL-bearing mice also resulted in an increase in the proliferation of splenocytes/thymocytes and BMC. The results of this study indicate that the ALTC upon in vivo administration in DL-bearing shows immuno-modulatory effects and thus may have clinical significance.
Objective : The purpose of this study was to retrospectively review cases of intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) medically treated at our institution to determine if the CT angiography (CTA) 'spot sign' predicts in-hospital mortality and clinical outcome at 3 months in patients with spontaneous ICH. Methods : We conducted a retrospective review of all consecutive patients who were admitted to the department of neurosurgery. Clinical data of patients with ICH were collected by 2 neurosurgeons blinded to the radiological data and at the 90-day follow-up. Results : Multivariate logistic regression analysis identified predictors of poor outcome; we found that hematoma location, spot sign, and intraventricular hemorrhage were independent predictors of poor outcome. In-hospital mortality was 57.4% (35 of 61) in the CTA spot-sign positive group versus 7.9% (10 of 126) in the CTA spot-sign negative group. In multivariate logistic analysis, we found that presence of spot sign and presence of volume expansion were independent predictors for the in-hospital mortality of ICH. Conclusion : The spot sign is a strong independent predictor of hematoma expansion, mortality, and poor clinical outcome in primary ICH. In this study, we emphasized the importance of hematoma expansion as a therapeutic target in both clinical practice and research.
Tissue 02 tension is an important guide in detection of the general condition in critical patients. The tissue 0, is more difficult to measure with 0, sensor in skeletal muscle and subcutaneous tissues to present. But it is much easier to measure 0, tension in bladder urine with Censini catheter in Foley catheter than in tissue. We have measured 0, tension in bladder urine, main pulmonary artery and radial artery in 16 patients in chest surgical department of Yonsei University. College of Medicine from September 26 to December 22, 1981. Six patients were male and ten patients were female. Their ages ranged from 8 to 43 years. The correlation equation between the simultaneously measured PuO2 and PvO2 was found to be Ypvo2=4.04 + 0.88 Xpuo2 [r=0.88, p<0.0001] in regression curve with computer [HP/3,000, Program: SPSS] in the Yonsei University. Measurement of 0, tension in bladder urine and MPA will be rather simple, rapid and reproducible method than that of the 0, tension in tissues. But the speed of 0, consumption in urine is fast and so the 0, tensions in bladder urine were measured as soon as possible after they were collected. They were no complications or morbidity during measurement of 0, tension in these procedures except spontaneous removal of radial arterial cannulas in 2 patients.

Coronary Perfusion Pressure(CPP) is known for the most important parameter related to the Return of Spontaneous Circulation (ROSC), however, clinically measuring CPP is difficult either invasive or non-invaisive method. En this paper, we analyze the correlation between the extracted parameter from VF ECG wave and the CPP with the statistical method, and predict CPP value using the extracted parameters within significance level. the extracted parameters are median frequency(MF), peak frequency(PF), average segment amplitude(ASA), MSA(maximum segment amplitude), Two parameters, MF, and ASA are selected in order to predict CPP value with general regression neural network, and then we evaluated the agreement statistics between the simulated CPP and the measured CPP. In conclusion, the mean and variance of the difference between the simulated CPP and the measured CPP are 8.9716±1.3526 mmHg, and standard deviation 6.4815 mmHg with one hundred-times training and test results. the simulated CPP and the measured CPP are agreed with the overall accuracy $90.68\%$ and kappa coefficient $81.14\%$ as a discriminant parameter of ROSC.

Inclusion body fibromatosis is a rare benign soft tissue neoplasm typically involving fingers and toes of children in mostly less than one year old. Histologic findings include spindle-shaped fibroblasts surrounded by dense stroma and small perinuclear eosinophilic inclusions in the cytoplasm. Although the tumor typically undergoes spontaneous regression, surgery is considered when functional impairment or deformity develops with the lesion. Unfortunately, recurrence rate was reported to be as high as 60 % following tumor excision. Authors would like to present our case where the tumor occurred in relatively older child and kissing lesion was found a few months after the surgery.

Arteriovenous malformation (A-V malformation) is defined as an abnormal connection between arteries and veins that lead to A-V shunting with an intervening network of vessels. A-V malformation is a rare condition, and spontaneous regression is also rare. A-V malformation becomes symptomatic when the surrounding tissue and osseous structures are negatively affected. A-V malformation has a high recurrence rate and is relatively hard to treat. In this case, a huge mass with pulsatile and bruit on the medial plantar area were observed. With the diagnosis of A-V malformation in accordance with the results from ultrasonography, magnetic resonance imaging and computed tomography angiography, and mass excision with feeding vessel ligation through plantar midfoot approach was completed successfully.
We report a rare case of primary tracheal malignent melanoma documented by careful clinical examination. Differentiation between primary and metastatic malignant melanoma is very difficult We conclude that this tracheal tumor is a primary malignant melanoma based on characteristic pathologic features and the exclusion of the possibility of spontaneous regression of the primary site by patient's history and physical examination.
