Dual laser heat sources were used for polymer based material joining. An infrared camera and thermocouple DAQ system were used to correlate the temperature distribution to computer simulation. A 50 degree tilted pre-heating laser source was acting as a heating source to promote the temperature to minimize thermal shock by the following a welding heat source. Based on the experimental result, the skin depth was empirically estimated for computer simulation. The offsets of 3mm, 5mm and 10mm split by weld and preheat were effectively used to control the temperature distribution for the optimal laser joining process. The closer offset resulted in an excessive melting or burning caused by sudden temperature rising. The laser power was split by 50%, 75% and 100% of the weld power, and the best results were found at 50% of preheating. To accurately simulate the physical laser beam absorption and joining optical properties were experimentally measured for the computer FEM simulation. The simulation results showed close correlation between theoretical and experimental results. The developed dual laser process is expected to increase productivity and minimize the cost for the final products.

Objective: The study aimed to evaluate the changes in mandibular width after sagittal split ramus osteotomy (SSRO) in patients with mandibular asymmetric prognathism using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). Methods: Seventy patients who underwent SSRO for mandibular setback surgery were included in two groups, symmetric (n = 35) and asymmetric (n = 35), which were divided according to the differences in their right and left setback amounts. The mandibular width was evaluated three-dimensionally using CBCT images taken immediately before surgery (T1), 3 days after surgery (T2), and 6 months after surgery (T3). Repeated measures analysis of variance was applied to verify the differences in mandibular width statistically. Results: Both groups showed a significant increase in the mandibular width at T2, followed by a significant decrease at T3. No significant difference was observed between T1 and T3 in any of the measurements. No significant differences were found between the two groups (p > 0.05). Conclusions: After mandibular asymmetric setback surgery using SSRO, the mandibular width increased immediately but returned to its original width 6 months after surgery.

This paper presents a novel scheme that quickly searches for the optimal direction of multiple directional antennas, and locks on to it for high-speed millimeter wavelength transmissions, when communications to another antenna directional are disconnected. The proposed method utilizes a modified genetic algorithm, which selects a superior initial group through preprocessing in order to solve the local solution in genetic algorithm. TDD (Time Division Duplex) is utilized as the transfer method and data controller for the antenna. Once the initial communication is completed for the specific number of individuals, no longer antenna's data will be transmitted nil each station processes GA in order to produce the next generation. After reproduction, individuals of the next generation become the data, and communication between each station is made again. In order to verify the effectiveness of the proposed system, simulation results of 1:1, 1:2, 1:5 directional antennas and experiment results of 1:1 directionalantennas confirmed the efficiency of the proposed method. The 16bit split is 8bit, but it has similar performance as 16bit gene.

Field and pot experiments were conducted for the split application of potash in paddy (Oryza sativa L. cultivar Jinheung.) Production and the experimental results were analysed with regard to the yield of paddy and its yield components. The absence of potash at the reproductive stages such as primodial and heading period but supplied most of the potash at the early growth stages, resulted in an increase of panicles but in a decrease of grain numbers per panicle and yield of paddy. On the other hand, however, the reduced amount of potash application at the earlystage of growth showed a decreased number of panicles and yield of paddy, particulary where lime and fresh rice straw were applied.
Organic single crystal of p-toluene sulfonate(PTS) bulks and thin films were fabricated using a slow solution evaporation method. Third and fifth order nonlinear refractive indices, $n_2$and $n_3$, of PTS crystals at 1600 nm were determined by the Z-scan method and the multimode output of the PTS thin film waveguide was observed at 1350 nm. When the beam intensity is in 2-5 GW/$cm^2$, the nonlinear refractive indices are $n_{2}=6{\times}10^{-4}cm^{2}$/GW and $n_{3}=-7{\times}10^{-5}cm^{4}/GW^{2}$ and the two and three photon absorption coefficients are zero. When the beam intensity is in 5~16 GW/$cm^2$, the split-step fast Fourier transform beam propagation method simulation shows that the beam propagation in the PTS is distorted from the gaussian shape.

The strong beam-to-column axis connections in steel structures have been studied for a long time to develop the strength and resistance of the connections. There have been very few studies, however, related to weak axis connections. Domestically, the bracket-type connection is commonly used in weak axis connections to elevate the efficiency of the constructions when the steel structures are constructed. The bracket-type connection detail has been applied moderately to weak axis connections. Therefore, the bracket-type connection in weak axis connections might be brittle and over-designed. The results of this study showed that the welding on the web of the column and the beam was unnecessary. In addition, this study confirmed that the new weak axis connection proposed in this study was superior to the previous connection in terms of strength and ductility.

The application of CT with basis on 3 dimensional-reconstruction is getting more widely practiced. With the data obtained from cone-beam computed tomography(CBCT), not only the diagnosis of the patient with skeletal abnormality but also the virtual simulation of the orthognathic surgery were performed and its application would be popular in orthodontic field. We reported a case, a 19-year old man who was diagnosed mandibular prognathism and required orthognatic surgery. In this case, the virtual orthognathic surgery was simulated and surgical wafer was fabricated by using CBCT data. That wafer was applied the actual orthognathic surgery. After preoperative orthodontic treatment, we prepared surgery as follows. : (l)Acquisition of 3D image data, (2)Reconstruction of 3-dimensional virtual model, (3)Virtual model surgery, (4)Extraction of stere-olithographic image, (5)Check-up for occlusal interference, (6)Fabrication of surgical stent by stereolithography. Bilateral sagittal split ramus osteotomy was operated and used stereolithographic surgical stent. 1 month later, we superimposed CBCT datas of virtual surgery and that of actual surgery, and then compared the result. CT data's application for othognathic surgery yielded satisfactory outcomes.
The backscattered sound energy by fish depends on size and physical structure and, most important, on the presence or absence of a swimbladder. Target strength experiments of red seabream (Pagrus major) were conducted by using 38 (split-beam), 120 (split-beam) and 200 kHz (dual-beam) frequencies with live fishes confined in a net-cage and free swimming in tank without the cage, respectively. For 38, 120, and 200 kHz frequencies, target strength equations are expressed as a function of fish length:TS/sub 38kHz/=20 log/sub 1o(l)/-66.41, TS/sub 120kHz/=20 log/sub 1o(1)/-71.80, and TS/sub 200kHz/=20 log/sub 1o(1)/-73.94. To test the acoustic models by using Helmholtz-Kirchhoff ray approximation, predictions of target strength based on swimbladder morphometries are compared with target strength measurements. The target strength of whole fish depends on variations in swimbladder morphology than fish body morphology. In the mean time, when the fish is confined in the net cage, scattering length by the backscattered signal matched with the Gaussian PDF, while under the free-swimming condition, scattering length is close to the Rayleigh PDF.
This study was performed on the dose distribution of various field size and the effect of penumbra shield in the telecobalt unit. The results obtained are as follows. 1. Errors of the light and ${\gamma}-ray$ field size was below the regulation as 0.52 percentage. 2. The coefficient of field area was increased with the larger field area, and this coefficient was showed the more difference in larger SSD. 3. The rectangular field areas, which were described by level of the same percentage depth does, were decreased with the more elongation factor. At the same elongation factor, the compensating factor was decreased with the larger field size. 4. The lead block or extension collimator was able to shield r-ray exposure of outside field size from 50 to 80 percentage. 5. On the matching adjacent fields, while the gap between beam edges are contacted, that overlapped beam edges indicated up to 140 percentage, and while the gap was 1 cm, it could be reduced to 90 Percentage. The lead-libocking on the overlapped area was more effective to lower dose, as 80 percentage in this case. 6. Percentage depth dose of various trimming field sizes were increased linearlly according to area 1 perimeter size, but the center split field size did not maintain linearlly.

Silicon doped $Al_{0.32}Ga_{0.68}As$ were growth by molecular beam epitaxy. Electroreflectance(ER) spectra of the $E_1$ transition of Schottky barrier Au/n-$Al_{0.32}Ga_{0.68}As$ have been measured at various modulation voltage($V_{ac}$) and dc bias voltage($V_{bias}$). from the $E_1$peak, band gap energy of the $Al_{0.32}Ga_{0.68}As$ is 1.883 eV which corresponds to an Al composition of 32%. As modulation voltage($V_{bias}$) is changed, a line shape at the $E_1$transition does not change, but its amplitude varies linearly. The amplitude of $E_1$signal decrease with increasing the forward dc bias voltage($V_{bias}$), but the line shape does not change. It suggests that the low field theory rather than Franz-Keldysh oscillation is Required to interpret spectra. Also, spectra at the $E_1$transition were broadened with increasing the reverse dc bias voltage($V_{bias}$) which suggests the presence of Field-induced broadening.
