Phytoecdysteroids with moulting hormone (MH) activity induce different responses in silkworms when used on different day of final instar, which can be manipulated for maximum benefit like early and uniform spinning behaviour, reducing crop loss and to increase cocoon yield. The results showed that application of this hormone on seed crop viz., CSR2, CSR4 and BL44 and BL67 in early stage of 5$^{th}$ instar i.e., at 72 hrs and 96 hrs though induced early and uniform spinning behaviour, there was an adverse effect by 9-36% on the economic characters like cocoon yield, cocoon weight, cocoon shell weight and also on fecundity etc. Application of this hormone in late stage of $5^th$ instar i.e., at the onset of spinning showed non-significant variations in some of the characters like cocoon weight, cocoon shell weight, cocoon shell ratio and fecundity. The physiological implications of phytoecdysteroid in hastening the maturation events and synchronization of spinning activities in different breeds are discussed.
The evolution of spinning technology was focused on improving productivity with good quality of yarns. More detail spinning technology according to mixing of various kinds of fibre materials on the air vortex spinning system is required for obtaining good quality yarns. This paper investigated the physical properties of air vortex yarns compared with ring and compact yarns using PTT/tencel/cotton fibres. It was observed that unevenness of air vortex yarns was higher than those of ring and compact yarns, which resulted in low tenacity and breaking strain of air vortex yarns. Initial modulus of air vortex yarns was higher than those of ring and compact yarns. Yarn imperfections of air vortex yarns such as thin, thick and nep were much more than those of ring and compact yarns. These poor yarn qualities of air vortex yarn were attributed to the fasciated yarn structure with parallel fibres in the core part of the air vortex yarn. However, yarn hairiness of air vortex yarns was less and shorter than those of ring and compact yarns. Thermal shrinkage of air vortex yarns were higher than that of ring yarns, which was caused by sensible thermal shrinkage of PTT fibres on the bulky yarn surface and core part of air vortex yarns.
This paper provides a stability analysis of the transverse vibration of a spinning disk under the torque fluctuation from a permanent magnetic motor. An analytical model has been formulated for a flexible annular disk with its spinning velocity varying harmonically with the same frequency as the cogging torque. A perturbation method based on multiple time scales is applied to perform the stability analysis. Based on expressions for the amplitude and frequency of the parametric excitation, stability boundaries are determined in terms of a nominal spindle velocity, the least common multiple of poles and slots, the magnitude of torque fluctuation and the modal characteristics of. the disk. The stability diagrams predicted by perturbation have been verified numerically using the Floquet theory, which is in good agreement. In conclusion, the fluctuation in spinning velocity is found to affect the stability of the transverse vibration of a rotating disks. The results of this work can be applied to high precision spindle systems such as computer storage systems.
The design of hydraulic & control system has been developed for the disc spinning machine. The hydraulic system has been designed in the overall system including the vertical & horizontal slide fur spinning works which are controlled by hydraulic servo valves in right & left side, and the clamping slide for holding & pressing blank material in center during spinning process. Based on the design concept of this hydraulic system, model test experiments for hydraulic servo control system is tested to conform confidence and applying possibility. The control system is introduced with the fuzzy-sliding mode controller for the hydraulic force control reacting force as a disturbance, because a fuzzy controller does not require an accurate mathematical model for the generation of nonlinear factors in the actual nonlinear plant with unknown disturbances and a sliding controller has the robustness & stability in mathematical control algorithm. We conform that the fuzzy-sliding mode controller has a good performance in force control for the plant with a strong disturbance. Also, we observe that a steady state error of the fuzzy-sliding mode controller can be reduced better than those of an another controllers.
An approach using the energy method has veen proposed for the analysis of cone spinning having the complicated deformation modes mixed by shear and normal deformation. In the proposed method, the corresponding solution is found through optimization of the total energy dissipation with respect to the parameters assumed by the velocity field defined as the variation of the length in longitudinal direction. The sheet blank is divided into three layers to consider the bending effect and the energy dissipated by shear deformation is superposed to the energy consumption due to normal deformation related with the shrinking deformation is superposed to the energy consumption due to normal deformation related with the shrinking deformation of axi-symmetric sheet element for the evaluation of total deformation energy. In order to check the validity of the proposed method, the complex spinning for making the conical cup is analyzed and the computed results are compared with the experimental results. In comparison of the computed results with existing experimental results,, the good agreement is obtained for the variation of outer radius and the distribution of thickness, and it has thus been shown that the present approach is applicable to the analysis of complex spinning.
In the single yarn spinning process by the ring spinning system, the finer the fineness of yarn and the lower the twist coefficient, the lower the breaking strength and breaking elongation. The change of yarn specific volume to yarn number agreed with Peirce's formula in the range of Ne 50 to 70, but above that range the values of the experiment are higher than that of the formula. The change of diameter of yarn to the reciprocal of the square root of yarn number agreed with Peirce's formula in the range of under 0.14, but above that value the values of the experiment are higher than that of the formula. In breaking strength variation according to twist constant of single yarn, as the twist coefficient increased, breaking strength increased. At 5.8∼6.0 of twist coefficient the maximum breaking strength was shown, but above that value breaking strength decreased. Breaking elongation also showed a similar tendency. But at 6.0∼6.5 of twist coefficient the maximum breaking elongation was shown. Also spinning tension increased as twist coefficient increased. Twist coefficient, breaking strength and breaking elongation according to the number of coils stayed almost the same. Yarn spinning tension according to the number of coils at the maximum of diameter was the lowest value. The speed of the traveller at the maximum of diameter was the highest value.
Traditional spinning systems have reached profitability limits in developed countries due to high production costs and low system productivity. Pneumatic spinning is seen as a developing system, because productivity is much higher than conventional systems. This study evaluates one of the main problems to increase productivity in pneumatic spinning, where air mass-flow is dragged by the drafting cylinders. This flow interacts with the incoming fibres deviating them from their expected path. Via laser anemometry, airflow velocity distribution around drafting cylinders has been measured and it has been found that vorticity is created at the cylinder's inlet. Extensive CFD simulation on the air flow dragged by the cylinders has given a clear insight into the vortex created, producing valuable information on how cylinder design affects the vorticity created. Several drafting cylinder designs have been tested without giving any improvement in productivity. However, the use of a drafting cylinder with holes in it produced good results to the problem of air currents, strongly reducing them and therefore allowing a sharp increase in yarn quality, as well as an increase in productivity. An extensive study on vortex kinematics has been undertaken, bringing with it a better understanding of vortex creation, development and breakdown.
The first purpose of this study was to compare kinematic variables during spinning motion with or without upper extremity and identify the most effective spinning method. The second purpose of this study was to compare functional difference between novice and elite dancers with the term of training. Ten experienced female dancers and ten novices were recruited as subjects for this study. Elite group was asked to perform turn motion with three types of upper extremity. Novice group has taken training of spotting technique for five weeks. Four Falcon HiRES cameras were used to analyze kinematic variables including head angular velocity and CG displacement during spinning. These data were sampled before training, after 3-week, and 5-week of training. Eight different events in two consecutive turns were defined for statistical comparison. One-way ANOVA was performed to compare among the kinematics of turning motion with three types of upper extremity. Independent t-test also used to compare kinematics between elite and novice at three different length of training. As results, spinning with both arm increased angular velocity and stability compared to the turning motion with one arm or with arm strapped and found out that the turn with both arm was the most effective way of spin. Also, for novice dancers, three weeks of training were needed to complete spinning motion.
