고속주축의 드로우바 지지조건에 따른 동특성 해석 (Analysis of Dynamic Characteristics of A High-speed Milling Spindle Due to Support Stiffness of Drawbar)

  • In designing AMBs (active magnetic bearings) for high-speed spindle system, the shaft is usually assumed as a rigid rotor. For automatic tool change process, there should be a tool clamping system with drawbar using spring or hydraulic force, and the drawbar in the spindle can be in various condition of support during design and manufacturing error. In this paper, the modal characteristics of drawbar in high-speed milling spindle system due to supporting stiffness between drawbar and shaft are analyzed by numerical method. The result shows enough stiff supports must be provided between shaft and drawbar to prevent occurring drawbar vibration lower than the natural frequency of 1$\^$st/ bending mode of spindle.

  • IPTV 셋톱박스에서 가장 많이 사용하는 저장장치인 하드디스크는 가격에 비해 저장용량이 크고 입출력 속도가 빠르지만 스핀들 모터의 기계적 동작으로 인해 전력 소모가 많다는 단점이 있다. 셋톱박스에서 스트리밍 데이터를 재생하기 위하여 하드디스크의 스핀들 모터는 최대 전력을 사용하는 활성모드를 계속 유지해야 한다. 본 논문에서는 스트리밍 데이터 재생 시 전력 소모를 감소시키는 오프셋-버퍼링(Offset-Buffering)과 다중모드 스핀-다운(Multi Mode Spin-Down) 기법을 제안한다. 오프셋-버퍼링은 사용자의 시청 패턴을 분석하고 분석된 결과를 통해 버퍼링을 하므로 스핀들 모터의 모드를 대기모드로 길게 유지할 수 있다. 또한 오프셋 버퍼의 크기에 따라 다양한 모드로 스핀-다운을 하여 전력 소모를 줄일 수 있다. 실험 결과 본 논문에서 제안한 오프셋-버퍼링과 다중모드 스핀-다운은 기존의 풀-버퍼링(Full-Buffering)보다 28.3% 전력 소모량을 감소시켰으며, 스핀-업 횟수를 12.5% 줄였다.

  • The spindle system with a built-in motor can be used to simplify the structure of machine tools, to improve the machining flexibility of machine tools, and to perform the high speed machining. For more quantitative analysis of a built-in motor's dynamic characteristics, that of tile mass and stillness effects are considered. And the drawbar in the spindle can be in various condition according to supporting stiffness between drawbar and shaft. Therefore, in this paper following items are performed and analyzed : 1. Modal characteristics of the spindle. 2. Analysis of rotor's mass and stiffness effects. 3. Modal characteristics of the spindle including drawbar, rotor and tool. The results show enough stiff supports must be provided between shaft and drawbar to prevent occurring drawbar vibration lower than the natural frequency of 1st bending mode of the spindle, and considering the mass and stiffness of built-in motor's rotor is important thing to derive more accurate results.

  • The spindle system with a built-in motor can be used to simplify the structure of machine tools, to improve the machining flexibility of machine tools, and to perform the high speed machining. To improve the competition power of price to quality, spindle design is very important. Because it possesses over 10 percent of machine tool's price. The latest machine tools have rotational frequency and excellent about might and precision cutting. So it requires static and dynamic strength in the load aspect. In conclusion, the deformation of the spindle end have to extremely small displacement in static and dynamic load. In this study, On the assumption that the bearings that are supporting 24,000rpm high-speed spindle are selected in the most optimum condition, the natural frequency and deformation of the spindle end is obtained by FEM mode analysis. The Taguchi Method was used to draw optimized condition of bearing position and it's stiffness.

  • An experimental study was performed to investigate the influence factors of drop formation in electrohydrodynamic atomization. The mode of electrohydrodynamic atomization depended on the various factors such as the flow rate of the liquid, the inner diameter of the nozzle, the distance between the nozzle tip and the ground electrode, the shape of the ground electrode. and the applied high voltage. This work was performed to investigate the experimental analysis for the flow pattern visualization of droplets, and the relationship between voltage application and the behavior of liquid atomization. Uniform drops of different sizes can be obtained at the inception of the spindle mode by charging the flow rate and the electric field. The drop size also decreased when the flow rate was raised for the spindle mode. The whipping motion occurred beyond 7kV and before the corona started to take effect.

  • In this paper, we reviewed the spindle system's motor and bearing and its mode safety for optimal design of a high speed spindle system that exceeds DmN value of 1,500,000. We could verify that it has a separation margin during critical speed by performing critical speed analysis. Also, we have selected an optimal sensoring installation location and actually manufactured & installed the sensor by identifying the stress concentration position in the axial load through finite element analysis to install the built-in piezo electric type load sensor to the spindle housing that can measure and monitor the machining load during high speed rotation of the spindle. Reproducibility is also verified by calibrating the error through the sensor's sensitivity adjustment after comparing the output between the plate dynamoneters and the load sensor to confirm the reproducibility of the load sensor.

  • This work presents the feasibility of shunt damping far vibration suppression of the rotating HDD disk-spindle system using piezoelectric bimorph. A target vibration mode which significantly restricts the recording density increment of the drive is determined through modal analysis and a piezoelectric bimorph is designed to suppress unwanted vibration. After deriving the two-dimensional generalized electromechanical coupling coefficient of the shunted drive, the shunt damping of the system is predicted by simulating the displacement transmissibility using the coefficient. In addition, optimal design process using sensitivity analysis is undertaken in order to improve the shunt damping of the system. The effectiveness of the proposed methodology is verified through experimental implementation by observing the vibration characteristics of the rotating disk-spindle system in frequency domain.

  • This paper presents vibration analyses of hard disk drive (HDD) spindle systems based on the finite element method. The systems under investigation have a cantilevered shaft rotating on hydrodynamic bearings. In particular, the influence of stator's flexibility on major modes has been taken into account in dual ways lumped and distributed-parameter model approfches. Even the latter employs relatively macroscopic elements instead of extremely fine ones Popular in commercial codes. In order to prove the effectiveness of such formulated models, two types of HDD prototypes featuring different hub and stator structures are selected as examples. Compared to the first, the second type has a reinforced stator that would raise the natural frequency of the hub's translational (or sideway) mode. Both free and forced vibration characteristics are computed, and subsequently compared with the experimental data. It is our conclusion that Particularly the Proposed distributed model method is an efficient design tool for state-of-the-art HDD spindle systems.

  • Thermal characteristics according to the cooling methods are studied for the three type spindles with high frequency motor. For the analysis, three dimensional mode]s are built considering heat transfer characteristics such as natural and force convection coefficients. Unsteady-state temperature distributions and thermal deformations according to the cooling conditions are analyzed by using the finite element method.

  • Sapphire have been ground by the ultra-precision surface grinder having a glass -ceramic spindle of extremely-low thermal expansion with various cup-type resinoid-bonded diamond wheels of #400-#3000 in grain size. Sapphire can be ground in the ductile mode. And also, the surface roughness and grinding conditions has been clarified. The smooth surface of Sapphire less than 1nm RMS, 1nm Ra can be obtained by the ultra-precision grinding without any polishing Process.
