기상계측 시스템을 이용한 머시닝센터의 열변형 오차 모델링 및 오차측정 (Modeling and Measurement of Thermal Errors for Machining Center using On-Machine Measurement System)

  • One of the major limitations of productivity and quality in metal cutting is the machining accuracy of machine tools. The machining accuracy is affected by geometric errors, thermally-induced errors, and the deterioration of the machine tools. Geometric and thermal errors of machine tools should be measured and compensated to manufacture high quality products. In metal cutting, the machining accuracy is more affected by thermal errors than by geometric errors. This paper models of the thermal errors for error analysis and develops on-the-machine measurement system by which the volumetric error are measured and compensated. The thermal error is modeled by means of angularity errors of a column and thermal drift error of the spindle unit which are measured by the touch probe unit with a star type styluses and a designed spherical ball artifact (SBA). Experiments, performed with the developed measurement system, show that the system provides a high measuring accuracy, with repeatability of $\pm$2${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ in X, Y and Z directions. It is believed that the developed measurement system can be also applied to the machine tools with CNC controller. In addition, machining accuracy and product quality can be improved by using the developed measurement system when the spherical ball artifact is mounted on the modular fixture.

  • The performance of the ultra-precision machine tools depends on the steady state characteristics of the main spindle bearings. For excluding the effect of machining error with perpendicularity, conical or spherical bearing has been used. In this paper, steady analysis of the externally pressurized conical gas bearing for ultraprecision is carried out based on the direct numerical method with assumption of point source. As a result of theoretical analysis, design parameters for optimal condition of conical gas bearing are' presented in dimensionless form.

  • For excluding the effect of machining error such as perpendicularity, conical and spherical bearing has been used. In this paper, dynamic characteristics of the externally pressurized conical gas bearing for untraprecision main spindle is carried out based on the direct numerical method with assumption of point source. As a result of theoretical analysis, it is verified that coupled stiffness and damping exist and new design parameters for optimal condition of conical gas bearing are presented in dimensionless form.

  • This paper presents the methodology for measuring eccentricity of the cylindricaliy machined part using CCS(Cylindrical Capacity Spindle Sensor) signal in the CNC turning process. In order to investigate the relationships between CCS orbits and eccentricities, the initial conditions for various eccentricity state and machining process is applied to the experimental strategy. AS a result, it is considered the linearities of CCS signal and magnitude of eccentricity of machined cylindrical surfaces based on the possibility as a automatic detection apparatus for the CNC lathe.

  • CCS was developed and applied to rotating machines because of accurately measuring the spindle error motion without significant efforts. However, researches on the CCS have been focused on ideal cases where circumferential gaps were ignored. This paper presents the effects of circumferential gaps and proposes an optimal CCS considering the circumferential gaps. First, electrostatic analysis of the CCS that includes the circumferential gaps is performed using the FEM, and an additional capacitance due to the circumferential gap can be approximated as an equivalent extended sensor length. Second, a mathematical model of the CCS considering the circumferential gaps is derived, and the optimal CCS is determined through minimization of the weighted error amplification factor. Finally, two CCSs, both considering and ignoring the circumferential gaps, are built, and the effectiveness of the optimal design is verified through simulation and experiment.

  • High-speed machining is one of the most effective technology to improve productivity. Because of the high speed and hugh fried rate, high-speed machining can alive great advantages for the machining of dies and molds. This paper describes on the improvement of machining accuracy in high-speed machining. Depth of cut, feed rate and spindle revolution are control factors. The effect of the control factors on machining accuracy is discussed fur the results of surface roughness and machining error in Z-direction of the high speed machining.

  • The aspherical lenses are used as objective lens of optical pickup. To examine the design factor the sample product is made before manufacturing of injection mould of lens. The optimum cutting condition of PMMA lens sample with ultra precision SPDT, the roam spindle speed, the depth of cut, the feedrate are found. The demanded surface roughness 100m Ra, aspherical form error $0.5{\mu}m$ P-V for aspherical lens of optical data storage device are satisfied.

  • Non-Parallelism the axial direction occurs during grinding process of long slender shafts. The reason for the axial error is due to elastic deformation of the components, accumulation phenomenon of the grinding and wheel wear during the grinding process. The accumulation phenomenon, the size generation mechanism and the wheel wear process during traverse grinding result in complicated process at each step on the wheel surface. The grinding system stiffness obtained from the stiffness of the center on the tailstock and the workpiece varing according to the relative position of the wheel and the workpiece. Further more, the value of wheel wear increases as the grinding process advances. The above mentioned issues make the shape generation process during traverse grinding quite complicated. This research analyzes the shape generation process in the direction of the work spindle. First, the formulation of the grinding system stiffness was conducted and the simulation analysis method of the traverse grinding was established. Also, a measuring system for assessing the dimensinal accuracy of the workpiece has been developed.

  • There are four servo systems in a DVD drive such as a focus servo system, a tracking servo system, a sled servo system and a spindle servo system. Focus servo system maintains relative distance between lens and disk. In this paper, two plant models for the focus servo system will be presented. One of them is conventional and the other is newly developed. Focus error signal between lens and disk is detected using LDV 2 beam method. The system is observable and all states are estimated. Full states feedback controller and minimum order observed are designed using those states. Impulse responses are simulated. And experiment is performed to compare with responses of conventional model.
