In shallow water with a thermocline, the characteristics of sound propagation strongly depend on the signal frequency. When only one of the source and the receiver is above the themocline, it is known that the intensity of the received signal changes largely and almost periodically as the signal frequency varies. This is the so-called channel resonance. By using the ray-mode approach, the formula relating the resonance frequency and the sound speed profile is obtained, and the resonance phenomenon is analyzed. Also this analysis is verified by numerical calculation.

Cam mechanism is a machine part frequently used in machinery. Specially, conjugate cam mechanism is very suitable for the high speed working and the heavy power translation. Then a conjugate cam mechanism need high precision for the relations between cam profiles and follower rollers. So, its design and manufacturing are very difficult. Thus, this study is a branch of exclusive CAM systems for design and NC machining of conjugate earn mechanism based on a master plate earn profile in order to exchange an old plate cam mechanism to a new conjugate earn mechanism. For the design of the other cam profile by using a master cam profile, some calculation processes were used by vector summation methods, from master cam profile data to the center data of master follower, from the center data of master follower to the center data of the other follower considered in link mechanism, and offsetting in the center direction of base circle of the other cam from the center data of the other follower. Finally, a sample conjugate cam was selected and machined m order to prove the contents of this study.

The program name TOLAPS is an acronym for Take-Off LAnding Profile Simulation. Some of the interesting features of this program is the ability to detect flight performance effects of airport altitude, ambient temperature, air pressure and wind. TOLAPS can also handle effects of TOW and LW. The program user can also calculate profiles by user difined flaps and thrust settings deviating from recommended standard settings for each aircraft. Wind effects on straight out flying as well as turns can also be demonstrated. Output form TOLAPS are either screen graphics of profiles (altitude, speed or thrust versus flight distance) or flight track. Profiles can also be made in a tabular form, ready for use in most airport noise calculation programs. In this way, TOLAPS is a valuable tool to evaluate effects of noise abatement procedures.

This study discusses data collection, calculation of wind and wave-induced resistance, and speed-power analysis of an 8,600 TEU container ship. Data acquisition system of the ship operator was improved to obtain the data necessary for the analysis, which was accomplished using SPA (Ship Performance Analysis, Park et al., 2019) in conformation with ISO15016:2015. From a previous operation profile of the container, the standard operating conditions of mean draft were 12.5 m and 13.6 m, which were defined with the mean stowage configuration of each condition. Model tests, including the load-variation test, were conducted to validate new ship performance and for the speed-power analysis. The major part of the added resistance of container ship is due to the wind. To check the reliability of wind-resistance calculation results, the resistance coefficients, added resistance, and speed-power analysis results using the Fujiwara regression formula (ISO15016:2015) and Computational fluid dynamics (Ryu et al., 2016; Jeon et al., 2017) analysis were compared. Wind speed and direction measured using an anemometer were used for wind-resistance calculation and the wave resistance was calculated using the wave-height and direction-data from weather information. Also, measured water temperature was used to calculate the increase in resistance owing to the deviation in water density. As a result, the SPA analysis using measured data and weather information was proved to be valid and able to identify the ship's resistance propulsion performance. Even with little difference in the air-resistance coefficient value, both methods provide sufficient accuracy for speed-power analysis. The differences were unnoticeable when the speed-power analysis results using each method were compared. Also, speed-power analysis results of the 8,600 TEU container ship in two draft conditions show acceptable trends when compared with the model test results and are also able to show power increase owing to hull fouling and aging. Thus, results of speed-power analysis of the existing 8,600 TEU container ship using the SPA program appropriately exhibit the characteristics of speed-power performance in deal conditions.

Structural design includes calculation of the wind speed as one of the major steps in the design process for wind loading. Accurate determination of design wind speed is vital in achieving safety that is consistent with the economy of construction. It is noticeable that many countries and regions such as Hong Kong, Japan and Australia regularly make amendments to improve the accuracy of wind load estimations for their wind codes and standards. This study compares the latest Hong Kong wind code published in 2019, which is generally known as the Code of Practice on Wind Effects in Hong Kong - 2019, with the latest revision of the AIJ Recommendations for Loads on Buildings - 2015 (Japan), and the Australian/New Zealand Standard, AS/NZS 1170.2:2021. The comparisons include the variations between the design wind speed and the vertical profiles of wind speed multipliers. The primary purpose of this study was to show any differences in the basic design wind speed and exposure factor estimations among the three economies located in the Western Pacific Ocean. Subsequently, the reasons for such underlying variations between the three documents, are discussed, together with future development trends.

In this paper, a simple but effective position profile generation algorithm for single axis high dynamic linear machine drive system is presented. In the recent industrial application fields like as LCD/PDP and semiconductor factory, requirements for the high performance positioning system with optimal position profile generator are highly increased to reduce the overall processing time. There might be various solutions for position profile generating algorithm according to the application type. A square-wave Impact quantity(Jerk) based algorithm with minimal locomotion time is argued in this paper to minimize the total time of one movement under some specific constrains such as maximum speed limit and maximum acceleration limit. In order to reduce the calculation efforts and satisfy the minimal locomotion time condition, the time variants representing each profile sector and a simple condition comparison algorithm are adopted. Also, the actual implementation method for profile generation algorithm and it's real performance results are presented through commercial linear machine drive system.

Vibration and noise analysis as well as strength of gear teeth, gear profile design are considered in order to develop the multi-gear train devices of synchro system for the guns of a warship. A new approach to the critical speed calculation of practical industrial multi-mesh geared system is presented. A transfer matrix model based on Hibner's branch method is developed and the natural properties of the branched rotor system are calculated with using the ${\lambda}$-matrix formulation. A Campbell diagram, in which the excitation sources caused by the mass unbalance of the rotors and the transmitted errors of the gearing are considered, shows that, at theoperating speed, there are not the critical speed.
The demand for energy in the world increases everyday. Blade energy which is wind turbine is a significant resource which must be appreciated in this field. Especially, in places where wind potential is high, the usage of wind energy is a beneficial factor for every country's economy. In this study, first, 6 different miniature rotor were produced by using 6 different NACA profiles. Rotors were produced with three blades. The electrical performance and the speed of start of action values that are provided from each rotor form were established by measuring them in the wind tunnel. The calculation of area and volumetric values of each profile and wind surfaces were made with AutoCad technical drawing program. As a result, it was searched whether there is any relation between electrical performance values and speed of start of motion that rotors produced and volumetric values of rotors. The aim of this study is to find out whether rotor blade volume is one of factors that influences rotor performance. The general tendency observed here is that the increase in the volume of rotor blade leads to an increase in the speed of start of motion and to a decrease in the rotor performance.
The optimal design for a leading car considering the aerodynamic resistance is required on the high-speed train due to increasing of ratio of drag force with proportion for the square of velocity. The aerodynamic analysis using CFD in the stage of concept design offers more economical analysis method which is used to estimate the influence of flow and pressure around the leading car than the experimental method using the Mock-up. In this study, we want to assist the artistic design with aerodynamics analysis in order to get the optimal design for leading car with the operation speed at 180km/h. The results of aerodynamic analysis for two leading car models which one is expressed with lineal beauty and the other is with curvaceous beauty are compared with each other and they offer the proposal of modification for two models in order to decrease the drag force. The shape of curvaceous model is better for the pressure force but slightly worse for the viscous force than the other. The Fluent software is used for the calculation of flow profile in this study.
Government efforts for green growth policy initiatives demand low-carbon technologies in the road construction industry. The purpose of this paper is to develop an algorithm of a road alignment design solution for establishing the multi-dimensional information, and to calculate carbon emission quantity due to the geometric design elements in the planning phase of road alignment. The paper developed a calculation method for carbon emission quantity by drawing a speed profile reflected in the operating speed, acceleration and deceleration, which are majors factor of carbon emissions while driving and by applying a carbon emission factor. From this effort, it enabled alignment planning to reduce carbon emission. Object-based parametric design methods of the cross-sections were proposed for alignment planning, and the paper demonstrated a BIM-based road alignment planning solution. The proposed solutions can provide multi-dimensional information on carbon emission quantity and cross section elements through driving simulation. It is expected to allow construction of eco-friendly roads by deriving optimal road alignment to minimize environmental costs.
