  • Design target values of transmission loss in a high-speed train wall are suggested by calculating the difference between interior and exterior noise levels of it. Exterior noise level distribution on the boundary of train wall is calculated by Sysnoise, with sound source input prepared by experiments. Two kinds of exterior sound sources are considered, the rolling noise of train wheels on the rail and the aerodynamic noise from the pantograph. Interior noise level is provided by high-speed design target. Transmission loss characteristics according to the frequency band are examined.

  • This paper intends to evaluate the seakeeping performance in consideration of nominal speed loss of ships in a seaway. Authors calculate the nominal speed loss in the Sea State of Beaufort Scale 6, 7 & 8 and obtain each response amplitude of ship;s motion by New Strip Method in consideration of them. This study presents some results of the seakeeping performance by the maximum dangerouseness of ships on each sea state.

  • An improved approximate formula is presented for Series 60 forms, modifying the approximate formula, developed by the Author in 1983. The weather formula is based on interpretations of detailed calculations of speed loss, due to wind(van Berlekom), motions(Maruo), and wave reflection resistance(Kwon). Comparison is made between the result of the approximate formula and the one of detailed calculation. The result of the formula is also compared with some published full-scale data for speed loss.

  • An analysis tool for predicting transmission loss in high speed trains based on combined use of the statistical energy analysis and the finite element methods has been proposed. The analysis utilizes a commercially available numerical solver VA ONE with imbedded NASTRAN module. The proposed analysis tool is first verified by comparing numerically predicted transmission loss of a light rail transport(LRT) structure with experimental results. The comparison shows that the numerically predicted transmission loss is similar to the experimental data. The analysis tool is then applied to the prediction of transmission loss in the high speed train(HST) currently under development. Various sub-structures such as the floor, side panel and ceiling have been numerically analyzed to predict their transmission losses. The results obtained here can be used as input data for predicting the interior noise level of the HST at design stage.

  • Interior permanent magnet synchronous motor(IPMSM) adjustable speed drives offer significant advantages over induction motor drives in a wide variety of industrial applications such as high power density, high efficiency, improved dynamic performance and reliability. This paper proposes efficiency optimization control of IPMSM drive using adaptive fuzzy learning controller(AFLC). In order to optimize the efficiency the loss minimization algorithm is developed based on motor model and operating condition. The d-axis armature current is utilized to minimize the losses of the IPMSM in a closed loop vector control environment. The design of the current based on adaptive fuzzy control using model reference and the estimation of the speed based on neural network using ANN controller. The controllable electrical loss which consists of the copper loss and the iron loss can be minimized by the optimal control of the armature current. The minimization of loss is possible to realize efficiency optimization control for the proposed IPMSM. The optimal current can be decided according to the operating speed and the load conditions. This paper considers the design and implementation of novel technique of high performance speed control for IPMSM using AFLC. Also, this paper proposes speed control of IPMSM using AFLC1, current control of AFLC2 and AFLC3, and estimation of speed using ANN controller. The proposed control algorithm is applied to IPMSM drive system controlled AFLC, the operating characteristics controlled by efficiency optimization control are examined in detail.

  • This paper proposes efficiency optimization control of IPMSM drive using multi hybrid fuzzy controller(HFC). The design of the speed controller based on fuzzy-neural network that is implemented using fuzzy control and neural network. The design of the current based on HFC using model reference and the estimation of the speed based on neural network using ANN controller.   • In this study, the dynamic characteristic of a contact wire and pantograph suppling electrical power to high-speed trains are investigated from an electrical response point of view. To analysis power line disturbance by induced contact loss phenomenon for high speed operation, a hardware Simulator which considered contact loss between contact wire and the pantograph as well as contact wire deviation is developed. It is confirmed that a contact wire and pantograph model are necessary for studying the dynamic behavior of the pantograph system. One of the most important needs accompanied by increasing the speed of high-speed train is reduced that an arc phenomenon by loss of contact brings out EMI. In case of a high-speed train using electrical power, as comparison with diesel rolling stock, PLD(Power Line Disturbance) such as harmonic, transient voltage and current, EMI, dummy signal injection etc usually occurs. Throughout experiment, it is verified that an arc phenomenon is brought out for simulator operation and consequently conducted noise is flowed in electric circuit by power line disturbance.

  • The aluminum extruded panel used for a high speed train shows the largest contribution to sound insulation performance of the train body. However, comparing with the flat panel having the same weight, the transmission loss falls sharply in the local resonance frequency band. Such fall of transmission loss can be improved by increasing the damping of local resonance. This study examines the charging effect of an urethane foam on the aluminum extruded panel of a high speed train. We charged the urethane foam with different mass density and in different way in the core part of the extruded panel. We measure the transmission loss and compare the sound insulation performance according to the density and charging method. Finally, Improvement effect of the transmission loss is compared and analysed in aspect of weight increment.

  • Generator efficiency optimization is important for economic saving and environmental pollution reduction. In general, the machine loss can be reduced by the decreasing the flux level, resulting in the significant reduction of the core loss. This paper proposesan model-based controller is used to decrement the excitation current component on the basis of measured stator current and machine parameters and the q-axis current component controls the generator torque, by which the speed of the induction generator iscontrolled according to the variation of the wind speed in order to produce the maximum output power. The generator reference speed is adjusted according to the optimum tip-speed ratio. The generated power flows into the utility grid through the back-to-back PWM converter. The grid-side converter controls the dc link voltage and the line-side power factor by the q-axis and the d-axis current control, respectively. Experimental results are shown to verify the validity of the proposed scheme.
