In this paper an application of centralized pitch angle controller for fixed speed wind turbines based wind farm to mitigate load frequency fluctuation is presented. Reference signal for the pitch angle of each wind turbine is calculated by using proposed centralized control system based on wind speed information. The wind farm in the model system is connected to a multi machine power system which is composed of 4 synchronous generators and a load. Simulation analyses have been carried out to investigate the performance of the controller using real wind speed data. It is concluded that the load frequency of the system can be controlled smoothly.
This study was undertaken to obtain the fundamental knowledges on the weld deflects and it's realtime monitoring method. The paper describes the results of high speed photography, acoustic emission (AE) detection and plasma light emission (LE) measurements during $CO_2$ laser welding of STS 304 stainless steel and A5083 aluminum alloy in different welding condition. The characteristic frequencies of plasma and keyhole fluctuations at different welding speed and shield gases were measured and compared with the results of Fourier analyses of temporal AE and LE spectra, and they had considerably good agreement with keyhole and plasma fluctuation. Namely, the low frequency peaks of AE and LE shifted to higher frequency range with the welding speed increase, and leer the argon shield gas it was higher than that in helium and nitrogen gases. The low frequencies dominating in fluctuation spectra of LE probably reflect keyhole opening instability. It is possible to monitor the weld bead deflects by analyzing the acoustic and/or plasma light emission signals.
In a power system that has a high wind penetration, the output power fluctuation of a large-scale wind turbine generator (WTG) caused by the varying wind speed increases the maximum frequency deviation, which is an important metric to assess the quality of electricity, because of the reduced system inertia. This paper proposes a stable power-smoothing scheme of a doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG) that can suppress the maximum frequency deviation, particularly for a power system with a high wind penetration. To do this, the proposed scheme employs an additional control loop relying on the system frequency deviation that operates in combination with the maximum power point tracking control loop. To improve the power-smoothing capability while guaranteeing the stable operation of a DFIG, the gain of the additional loop is modified with the rotor speed and frequency deviation. The gain is set to be high if the rotor speed and/or frequency deviation is large. The simulation results based on the IEEE 14-bus system demonstrate that the proposed scheme significantly lessens the output power fluctuation of a WTG under various scenarios by modifying the gain with the rotor speed and frequency deviation, and thereby it can regulate the frequency deviation within a narrow range.

This paper propose a method to identify the motor parameters and improve input voltage error which affect the low speed position error of the back-emf(back electromotive force) based sensorless algorithm and to secure the operation reliability and stability even in the case where the load fluctuation is severe and the start and low speed operation frequently occurs. In the model-based observer used in this paper, stator resistance, inductance, and input voltage are particularly influential factors on low speed performance. Stator resistance can cause resistance value fluctuation which may occur in mass production process, and fluctuation of resistance value due to heat generated during operation. The inductance is influenced by the fluctuation due to the manufacturing dispersion and at a low speed where the change of the current is severe. In order to find stator resistance and inductance which have different initial values and fluctuate during operation and have a large influence on sensorless performance at low speed, they are commonly measured through 2-point calculation method by 2-step align current injection. The effect of voltage error is minimized by offsetting the voltage error. In addition, when the command voltage is used, it is difficult to estimate the back-emf due to the relatively large distortion voltage due to the dead time and the voltage drop of the power device. In this paper, we propose a simple circuit and method to detect the voltage by measuring the PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) pulse width and compensate the voltage drop of the power device with the table, thereby minimizing the position error due to the exact estimation of the back-emf at low speed. The suitability of the proposed algorithm is verified through experiment.

Nanotechnology mostly employs nano-materials and nano-structures with distinctive properties based on their size, structure, and composition. It is quite difficult to produce nano-materials and nano-structures with identical sizes, structures, and compositions in large quantities, because of spatiotemporal fluctuation of production processes. In other words, fluctuation is the bottleneck in nanotechnology. We propose three strategies to suppress such fluctuations: employing 1) difference between linear and nonlinear phenomena, 2) difference in time constants, and 3) nucleation as a bottleneck phenomenon. We are also developing nano- and micro-scale guided assembly using plasmas as a plasma nanofabrication.1-5) We manipulate nano- and micro-objects using electrostatic, electromagnetic, ion drag, neutral drag, and optical forces. The accuracy of positioning the objects depends on fluctuation of position and energy of an object in plasmas. Here we evaluate such fluctuations and discuss the mechanism behind them. We conducted in-situ evaluation of local plasma potential fluctuation using tracking analysis of fine particles (=objects) in plasmas. Experiments were carried out with a radio frequency low-pressure plasma reactor, where we set two quartz windows at the top and bottom of the reactor. Ar plasmas were generated at 200 Pa by applying 13.56MHz, 450V peak-to-peak voltage. The injected fine particles were monodisperse methyl methacrylate-polymer spheres of $10{\mu}m$ in diameter. Fine particles were injected into the reactor and were suspended around the plasma/sheath boundary near the powered electrode. We observed binary collision of fine particles with a high-speed camera. The frame rate was 1000-10000 fps. Time evolution of their distance from the center of mass was measured by tracking analysis of the two particles. Kinetic energy during the collision was obtained from the result. Potential energy formed between the two particles was deduced by assuming the potential energy plus the kinetic energy is constant. The interaction potential is fluctuated during the collision. Maximum amplitude of the fluctuation is 25eV, and the average is 8eV. The fluctuation can be caused by neutral molecule collisions, ion collisions, and fluctuation of electrostatic force. Among theses possible causes, fluctuation of electrostatic force may be main one, because the fine particle has a large negative charge of -17000e and the corresponding electrostatic force is large compared to other forces.

In conventional far-field microscopy, two objects separated closer than approximately half of an emission wavelength cannot be resolved, because of the fundamental limitation known as Abbe's diffraction limit. During the last decade, several super-resolution methods have been developed to overcome the diffraction limit in optical imaging. Among them, super-resolution optical fluctuation imaging (SOFI) developed by Dertinger et al [1], employs the statistical analysis of temporal fluorescence fluctuations induced by blinking phenomena in fluorophores. SOFI is a simple and versatile method for super-resolution imaging. However, due to the uncontrollable blinking of fluorophores, there are some limitations to using SOFI for several applications, including the limitations of available blinking fluorophores for SOFI, a requirement of using a high-speed camera, and a low signal-to-noise ratio. To solve these limitations, we present a new approach combining SOFI with speckle pattern illumination to create illumination-induced optical fluctuation instead of blinking fluctuation of fluorophore.. This technique effectively overcome the limitations of the conventional SOFI since illumination-induced optical fluctuation is possible to control unlike blinking phenomena of fluorophore. And we present the sub-diffraction resolution image using SOFI with speckle illumination.
As the train run through the tunnels, especially at high speed, pressure shock developed by the running train gives the influence on the pressure fluctuation inside the tunnel and consequently, inside the car. This pressure changes and pressure gradient is closely related with the tunnel section, train speed, air tightness of the train, length of the tunnel, etc. This study includes the analysis of the pressure behavior at the varied train speed and tunnel length. The results show that train speed affects the pressure gradient inside the car almost linearly, and that there exist the critical tunnel lengths that gives the maximum value of pressure change and pressure gradient, respectively.
The switched reluctance motor(SRM) drive system provides a good adjustable speed and torque characteristics. However, because of the torque production mechanism, it also has some disadvantage such as higher torque ripple and fluctuation in speed. To reduce torque ripple and to control speed precisely, digital signal processor(BSP) is adopted. The DSP TMS320F241 was used to be realized this drive system. Test results show that the suggested control system has the ability of dynamic and precise speed control.

Lateral dispersion parameter(.sigma.$_{y}$) which is an important factor in atmospheric dispersion can be estimated byusing wind direction fluctuation(.sigma.$_{\theta}$). In this paper, we studied the characteristics of the .sigma.$_{\theta}$ in the Chunchon basin and calculated the .sig- ma.$_{y}$ by using the .sigma.$_{\theta}$. We could find some characteristics of the .sigma.$_{\theta}$ which showed small value, when the atmospheric condition was in weak unstable (C class) and neutral (D class). Moreover, when the atmospheric stability was neutral, there was no difference of .sigma.$_{\theta}$ with wind speed. On the other hand, .sigma.$_{\theta}$ showed large values at the strong unstable (A class) and strong stable (F class) condition with low wind speed. In this case, the .sigma.$_{\theta}$ increased as long as averaging time due to the long-period wind direction fluctuation by the terrain effect. In the result of calculation of .sigma.$_{y}$, it was smaller than that of pasquill-Gifford curve. Especially, when the atmospheric condition was in a neutral and stable, .sigma.$_{y}$ showed small increment as the downwind distance increased.creased.
Weld quality of GMA welding processes is closely related to arc stability. Although many researches on arc stability have been performed, real-time estimation of arc stability has not been attempted. For instance, Mita proposed a off-line statistical method in which short circuiting and arcing time, and voltage and current wave forms were sampled to assess arc stability. But this method is not suitable to assess arc stability for GMA welder which employ inverter power source due to its controlled current and voltage wave forms. In this paper, the relationship between are stability and wire feed rate fluctuation is analyzed to propose new criterion for inverter power source. When arc voltage and arc current and arcing time are analyzed, we can assess arc stability only for short circuit transfer mode. When wire feed rate is analyzed, we can estimate arc stability udner the condition of spray transfer mode as well. Hence, the wire feed rate is chosen for monitoring process variable to cover possible metal transfer modes in GMAW. Through this research, it has been identified that arc stability in GMA welding processes is closely related to wire fed rate. When inverter power source is used, conventional statistical method of estimating arc stability, such as Mita index, is no longer valid due to its controlled voltage and current wave forms. Arc stability has been also examined in phase plane diagram.
