라인 스캔 카메라를 위한 고속 영상 처리 시스템 설계 (Design of High-Speed Image Processing System for Line-Scan Camera)

  • In this paper, we designed an image processing system for the high speed line-scan camera which adopts the new memory model we proposed. As a resolution and a data rate of the line-scan camera are becoming higher, the faster image processing systems are needed. But many conventional systems are not sufficient to process the image data from the line-scan camera during a very short time. We designed the memory controller which eliminates the time for transferring image data from the line-scan camera to the main memory with high-speed SRAM and has a dual-port configuration therefore the DSP can access the main memory even though the memory controller are writing the image data. The memory controller is implemented by VHDL and Xilinx SPARTAN-IIE FPGA.

Correlation Between Knee Muscle Strength and Maximal Cycling Speed Measured Using 3D Depth Camera in Virtual Reality Environment

  • Background: Virtual reality (VR) programs based on motion capture camera are the most convenient and cost-effective approaches for remote rehabilitation. Assessment of physical function is critical for providing optimal VR rehabilitation training; however, direct muscle strength measurement using camera-based kinematic data is impracticable. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a method to indirectly estimate the muscle strength of users from the value obtained using a motion capture camera. Objects: The purpose of this study was to determine whether the pedaling speed converted using the VR engine from the captured foot position data in the VR environment can be used as an indirect way to evaluate knee muscle strength, and to investigate the validity and reliability of a camera-based VR program. Methods: Thirty healthy adults were included in this study. Each subject performed a 15-second maximum pedaling test in the VR and built-in speedometer modes. In the VR speedometer mode, a motion capture camera was used to detect the position of the ankle joints and automatically calculate the pedaling speed. An isokinetic dynamometer was used to assess the isometric and isokinetic peak torques of knee flexion and extension. Results: The pedaling speeds in VR and built-in speedometer modes revealed a significantly high positive correlation (r = 0.922). In addition, the intra-rater reliability of the pedaling speed in the VR speedometer mode was good (ICC [intraclass correlation coefficient] = 0.685). The results of the Pearson correlation analysis revealed a significant moderate positive correlation between the pedaling speed of the VR speedometer and the peak torque of knee isokinetic flexion (r = 0.639) and extension (r = 0.598). Conclusion: This study suggests the potential benefits of measuring the maximum pedaling speed using 3D depth camera in a VR environment as an indirect assessment of muscle strength. However, technological improvements must be followed to obtain more accurate estimation of muscle strength from the VR cycling test.

신호교차로에서 무인교통단속 규제에 따른 주행 특성 (Driving Behavior Characteristics under Red Right Camera Enforcement at Signalized Intersections)

  • PURPOSES : The objective of this study was to analyze variations in the vehicle driving behavior characteristics on signalized intersections according to the use of traffic enforcement camera (red light camera). METHODS : In order to analyze the driving behavior characteristics on signalized intersections when red light camera are installed, the target sites for investigation were selected depending on whether the red light camera is installed and accident rates increased after the installation. In particular, to analyze the characteristics of dilemma zones in signalized intersections, approach speed and deceleration speed of 3 type vehicles (passing vehicles during a yellow light, stopping at a yellow light, passing vehicles during a green light) were examined. Based on these data, the starting point, ending point, and distance of the dilemma zones were calculated. Also, the locations of increased traffic accidents and decreased accidents after the installation of the equipment were distinguished when analyzing the traffic accident characteristics. RESULTS : Analysis results revealed that there was a tendency for the dilemma zone distance to decrease after the installation of equipment(red light camera) in most sites. This tendency was found to be due to the decrease in the approaching speed of vehicles at intersections after the installation of equipment, resulting in the starting and ending points of dilemma zone to become closer to the stop line. Moreover, analysis showed that the number of traffic accidents decreased for most intersections after the installation of equipment and safety of the intersections increased somewhat. CONCLUSIONS : In general, installation of equipment(red light camera) caused the intersections approaching speed and dilemma zone distance to decrease. Decision-making is difficult for drivers in the dilemma zone, so the decrease in the dilemma zone distance implies an improvement in traffic safety. Furthermore, the number of accidents within intersections significantly decreased after the equipment was installed, leading to the conclusion that installation of the equipment affected the decrease in traffic accidents.

  • 최근 체감형 스포츠 게임이 늘어나면서 실제 사용자의 동작을 인식하는 연구가 활발히 진행 중이다. 그 중에서도 골프에 관한 연구가 활발하다. 본 논문에서는 고속CCD카메라를 이용하여 골프공의 비행데이터를 측정한다. 고속CCD카메라는 촬영 시, 한 장의 이미지에 여러 번의 노출을 이용하여 고속으로 촬영하여 획득한 영상은 영상처리과정을 통하여 촬영된 공의 위치를 측정한다. 계산된 골프공의 위치는 물리공식을 이용하여 골프공의 비행데이터인 속도, 날아가는 방향을 계산한다. 본 시스템은 향후 비행하는 골프공뿐만 아니라, 야구, 테니스 등과 같은 타격 스포츠에서 체감형 게임 형태로 적용이 가능하다.

Traffic Safety Recommendation Using Combined Accident and Speeding Data

  • Speed enforcement is one of the major challenges in traffic safety. The increasing number of accidents and fatalities has led governments to respond by implementing an intelligent control system. For example, the Korean government implemented a speed camera system for maintaining road safety. However, many drivers still engage in speeding behavior in blackspot areas where speed cameras are not provided. Therefore, we propose a methodology to analyze the combined accident and speeding data to offer recommendations to maintain traffic safety. We investigate three factors: "section," "existing speed camera location," and "over speeding data." To interpret the results, we used the QGIS tool for visualizing the spatial distribution of the incidents. Finally, we provide four recommendations based on the three aforementioned factors: "investigate with experts," "no action," "install fixed speed cameras," and "deploy mobile speed cameras."

고속카메라 데이터 분석을 통한 발사체 지지대 분산 궤적의 근사적 예측 방법 (A Prediction Method for Sabot-Trajectory of Projectile by using High Speed Camera Data Analysis)

  • In this paper, we have proposed a prediction method for sabot-trajectory of projectile using high speed camera data analysis. Through analyzing trajectory of sabot with high speed camera data, we can extract its real velocity and acceleration including effects of friction force, pressure of flume, etc. Using these data, we suggest a prediction method for sabot-trajectory of projectile having variable acceleration, especially for minimum and maximum acceleration, by using interpolation method for velocity and acceleration data of sabot. Also we perform the projectile launching tests to achieve the trajectory of sabot in case of minimum and maximum thrust. Simulation results show that they are similar to real tests data, for example velocity, acceleration and the trajectory of sabot.

수학적 형태학 처리를 통한 주행 중 과속 방지턱 자동 탐지 방안 (A Study on Automatic Detection of Speed Bump by using Mathematical Morphology Image Filters while Driving)

  • 본 연구에서는 전방위 카메라(Omni-directional Camera)를 이용하여 과속방지턱(Speed Bump)을 탐지하고 Vision Based Approach 통한 실시간 과속 방지턱 데이터의 갱신 방안을 제시하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 카메라 영상정보에서 과속 방지턱을 검출하기 위해 잡음을 제거하고 이를 구성하는 형상과 패턴으로 여겨지는 점들을 우선적으로 탐지하여야 한다. 과속방지턱은 일정한 폭과 규칙적인 형태를 유지하며 흰색과 노란색의 영역을 가지고 있음에 착안하여 침식과 팽창을 이용한 형태학적 연산과 HSV칼라 모델을 적용하여 도로상의 과속방지턱을 추출하였다. 카메라에서 거대한 이미지 데이터를 수집하여 대상 객체를 검출하고 GPS 위치 정보를 이용하였다. 마지막으로 동시적 위치추정 및 지도작성 (SLAMs :Simultaneous Localization And Mapping) 시스템을 구현하여 탐지알고리즘과 취득결과의 정확성을 평가하였다.

원격 감시카메라 자동추적시스템의 퍼지제어기 개발에 관한 연구 (Development of Fuzzy Controller for Camera Autotracking System)

  • This paper presents the development of a fuzzy controller for driving camera pan/tilt device so that the camera's viewing direction can automatically track a moving object. To achieve computational efficiency a non-contact type displacement follower is used as a feedback sensor instead of a vision camera. The displacement follower, however, is extremely sensitive to object's lighting condition and results in unstable response at high speed. To this end, a fuzzy controller is developed in such a way to provide stable tracking performance at high speed where the sensory signal is subjected to intermittant disturbances of large magnitude. The test result shows stable tracking response even for high speed and non-uniform lighting condition. The resulting camera autotracking system can be adopted as an effective tool for visual transfer in the context of teleoperation and autonomous robotics.

ESTIMATION OF PEDESTRIAN FLOW SPEED IN SURVEILLANCE VIDEOS

  • This paper proposes a method to estimate the flow speed of pedestrians in surveillance videos. In the proposed method, the average moving speed of pedestrians is measured by estimating the size of real-world motion from the observed motion vectors. For this purpose, pixel-to-meter conversion factors are calculated from camera geometry. Also, the height information, which is missing because of camera projection, is predicted statistically from simulation experiments. Compared to the previous works for flow speed estimation, our method can be applied to various camera views because it separates scene parameters explicitly. Experiments are performed on both simulation image sequences and real video. In the experiments on simulation videos, the proposed method estimated the flow speed with average error of about 0.1m/s. The proposed method also showed a promising result for the real video.
