In order to conduct research on oil originated in Mongolia for further application of petroleum not only as fuel but also as raw material for organic synthesis, we need to study the physical, chemical characteristics and individual, group hydrocarbon's compositions of main petroleum fractions. A number of studies and surveys on the physical and chemical characteristics, group hydrocarbon's composition of petroleum deposits in Zuun-Bayan, Sukhaibulag, Tsagaan Elst, Tamsagbulag have been carried out earlier through n-g-M, aniline point and dispersimetric methods successfully. Yet a detailed chromatographical and NMR spectroscopic study for the individual hydrocarbon's composition of Tamsagbulag oil main fractions has not been conducted. In the present study the results of GC analyses of gasoline fractions of wells 19-3, 19-13 and 19-10, Tamsagbulag (Eastern Mongolia) were presence. The gasoline fractions of given wells were characterized by the high concentration of paraffins and presence of trace amount of olefins. There were identified 69 paraffins, 45 naphthenes, 41 aromatics and 3 olefins in total 158 individual hydrocarbons from each samples of gasoline fraction. The first attempts to classify Tamsagbulag oil under the individual hydrocarbon's composition data were successfully conducted and the supposition of a genetic classification of given oil as "sapropelic" type was made.
The light curve and radial velocity curve of multiperiodic dwarf cepheid VI719 Cyg (HD200925) with peculiar light curve have been reanalyzed in order to identify the oscillation modes to confirm the helium settling within the envelope. To do these, through the period search for the photometric and radial velocity data from the literature, two different periods were determined and the oscillation modes corresponding to the first and second periods were identified as the fundamental and first radial overtones. Hence the helium settling within the envelope was confirmed from the period ratio. The color excess, metallicity, effective temperature, and surface gravity corresponding to two different modes were determined and it was found that these parameters almost do not depend upon different oscillation mode. By utilizing the surface brightness method, we investigated the variation of angular diameter and radial displacement and it was found that the angular variation is very peculiar. Also by referring to the stellar models, mass and age were determined as $2.7M_{\bigodot}$ and 0.42 Gyr respectively which make this variable star heavier and younger than other multimode dwarf cepheids. Preliminary spectroscopic CCD observations were carried out and it was found that Mg in VI719 Cygni is nearly solar abundent according to the analysis of $5172.68{\AA}MgI$ line which is inconsistent with the photometric result. It was suggested that VI719 Cyg may be classified as a $\rho$ Pup stars according to the photometric characteristics.

Oligomers of p-phenylene vinylene and its derivatives have drawn much attention due to their unusual emission characteristics of showing increased emission when they form into nanoparticles. We have investigated the optical properties of the oligo-(p-phenylene vinylene) and its cyano-substituted derivatives in solution and in nanoaggregate media by femtosecond and picosecond time resolved fluorescence as well as stationary spectroscopies. All the spectroscopic data are consistent with the conclusion that the cyano substitution on the ${\beta}$-position of oligo-(p-phenylene vinylene) leads to breakage of the otherwise planar structure of cyano-unsubstituted molecules, which opens up an extremely efficient, as fast as 100 fs, non-radiative relaxation channel of the excited state. Formation of the nanoaggregates reverts the effect to make the molecules planar and to block the non-radiative relaxation channel. Therefore, concerning the applications in organic electroluminescent devices and organic light emitting diodes, substitution by the cyano group is not advantageous, although such modification should be useful in respect of controlling fluorescence intensity in different media.
In order to enhance the thermal stability of binder materials of bonded type solid lubricants, several metal-alkoxide based sol-gel materials such as methyltrimethoxysilane(MTMOS), titaniumisopropoxide$(Ti(Opr^i)_4),$ zirconiumisopropoxide $(Zr(Opr^i)_4)$ and aluminumbutoxide$(Al(Obu^t)_4)$ were chemically modified by epoxy-, acrylic- and fluoro-silane compounds, respectively. Friction and wear characteristics of these hybrid ceramic materials were tested with a micro tribo-tester, and evaluated with respect to both heat-curing temperature and the time. Test results generally showed that hybrid ceramic materials modified by epoxy-silane compounds had a low friction compared to others. And the higher het-curing temperature and the longer heat treatment time resulted in the higher friction and the lower wear. IR spectroscopic analyses revealed that these results were caused mainly by the increased metal oxide content in hybrid ceramics when the heat-curing temperature was over $320^{\circ}C.$
Changes of organic carbon after the entrance into dam reservoirs were investigated using water samples collected in May, September, and October in 2010 from the inflow sites and the outlets of four selected dam reservoirs-Soyang, Chungju, Chungju regulation, and Uiam. Increase of refractory dissolved organic carbon (R-DOC) was observed only for large dam reservoirs with long residence times whereas the trend was not found for relatively small reservoirs. The effects of residence times on organic carbon changes were further confirmed by significant positive correlations between monthly residence times and the relative increase of either dissolved organic carbon (DOC) or R-DOC concentrations. Comparison of spectroscopic characteristics of DOC revealed that the changes in the large reservoirs in May might result from in-lake processes. The inflow of terrestrial sources of DOM during storms appears to largely affect the DOC quality of the large reservoirs for the rest of the sampling periods. The mechanism, however, did not fully explain the behaviors of DOC for the small sized reservoirs. Our combined results suggested that both residence time and the input of allochthonous carbon sources might substantially influence the quantity of DOC as well as its quality in dam reservoirs.
In this study, to increase flame retardation of poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) in burning, bisphenol A bis(diphenyl phosphate) (BDP), a well known flame retardant containing phosphorous, was reacted on end groups of PET by radical pathway. End-capping mechanism of PET with BDP was suggested and confirmed by spectroscopic and thermal analysis. From 400 MHz $^{31}P$ solid state FT-NMR spectrum of end-capped PET (PET-BDP), phosphorus spectra peak in BDP was found at ca. -20 ppm. Furthermore, P-C bond stretching vibration peaks were found ca. $600cm^{-1}$ in FT-IR spectrums of PET-BDP. These results showed that BDP can be chemically added on end groups of PET by our method. Thermal characteristics of pure PET (pPET) and PET-BDP were measured and evaluated by TGA analysis. There was not significant changes in thermal characteristics of PET-BDP compared to that of pPET.
To improve flame retardation of poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) against burning, resorcinol bis(diphenyl phosphate) (RDP), phosphorous containing flame retardant, was incorporated into PET backbone by radical reaction pathway. Radical endcapping of PET with RDP was confirmed by spectroscopic and thermal analysis. From 400 MHz $^{31}P$ solid state FT-NMR spectrum of PET with RDP (PET-RDP), phosphorus spectra peak in RDP was found at ca. -10 ppm. Furthermore, P-C bond stretching vibration peaks were found ca. $530cm^{-1}$ in FT-IR spectrums of PET-RDP. These results indicated that RDP can be chemically bound at the ends of PET by radical addition method. Thermal characteristics of pure PET (pPET) and PET-RDP were measured and evaluated by TGA thermal analysis. There was not significant changes in thermal characteristics of PET-RDP compared to that of pPET.

Surface polymer layer formed on the silicon wafer during the oxide overetching using $C_4F_8$/ helicon wave plasmas and their characteristics were investigated using spectroscopic elipsometry, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and secondary ion mass spectrometry. Overetch percentage and dc-self bias voltage were varied to investigate the effects on the characteristics of the polymers remaining on the overetched silicon surface. The increase of bias voltage from -80 volts to -120 volts increased the C/F ratio and carbon bondings such as C-C, $C-CF_x$/, and C-Si in the polymer while reducing the thickness of the polymer layer. However, the increase of the overetch percentage from 50% to 100% did not change the composition of the polymer layer and the carbon bondings in the polymer layer remained same even though it increased the polymer thickness. The polymer layer formed at the higher dc-self bias voltage was more difficult to be removed by the following various post-etch treatments compared to that formed at the longer overetch percentage.

Spectroscopic and electrostatic probe measurements were made to examine plasma characteristics with or without a metal plate for a 10-㎾-class direct-current arcjet Heat fluxes into the plate from the plasma were also evaluated with a Nickel slug and thermocouple arrangement. Ammonia and mixtures of nitrogen and hydrogen were used. The NH$_3$ and $N_2$+3H$_2$ plasmas in the nozzle and in the downstream plume without a plate were in thermodynamical nonequilibrium states. As a result, the H-atom electronic excitation temperature and the $N_2$ molecule-rotational excitation temperature intensively decreased downstream in the nozzle although the NH molecule-rotational excitation temperature did not show an axial decrease. Each temperature was kept in a small range in the plume without a plate except for the NH rotational temperature for NH$_3$ gas. On the other hand, as approaching the plate, the thermodynamical nonequilibrium plasma came to be a temperature-equilibrium one because the plasma flow tended to stagnate in front of the plate. The electron temperature had a small radial variation near the plate. Both the electron number density and the heat flux decreased radially outward, and an increase in H$_2$ mole fraction raised them at a constant radial position. In cases with NH$_3$ and $N_2$+3H$_2$ a large number of NH radical with a radially wide distribution was considered to cause a large amount of energy loss, i.e., frozen flow loss, for arcjet thrusters.
Photosynthesis of plants is effective in the range of 550 to 700 nm of the wavelength of solar irradiation. If the conversion of ultraviolet to the above mentioned region is possible, the photosynthesizing ability is expected to be enhanced. $Eu^{3+}$ doped soda-lime bulk and $TiO_2-SiO_2$ sol-gel coated glasses were prepared and their spectroscopic properties were studied. The absorption and emission spectra for the specimens were measured with the changes of wavelength and Eu ion concentration in the range of the wavelength of 300 to 700nm. The transmittance intensity of visible light through the bulk glass and the coated one was unchanged with the addition of Eu element. The emission spectrum intensity of $Eu^{3+}$ was found to be the maximum at 618 nm which is a transition of $^5DO{\rightarrow}^7F_2$. Additionally, it was shown that the intensity was linearly increased up to 10% of the Eu concentration.
