자유전자레이저의 개발현황과 전망 (Status and Prospect of Free Electron Lasers)

  • 자유전자레이저는 고에너지 전자빔의 운동에너지를 빛 에너지로 바꾸는 장치로서, 다른 어떤 종류의 광원으로도 제공할 수 없는 넓은 범위의 파장가변성과 우수한 분광특성을 갖고 있어, 기초연구에서부터 산업응용에 이르기까지 다양하게 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다. 이 논문에서는 자유전자레이저의 원리와 특성, 요소기술을 소개하고, 최근 주목받고 있는 테라헤르츠파 자유전자레이저와 에너지 회수형 고출력 자유전자레이저에 대하여 자세하게 소개하였다.

Se, As 및 Te를 이용한 고감도 다층 광도전막의 제작 및 그 응용 (Fabrication of High Sensitive Photoconductive Multilayer Using Se,As and Te and its Application)

  • The photoconductive multilayer of Se-As(hole blocking layer)/Se-As-Te (photoconductive layer) /Se-As (layer for supporiting hole transport)/Se-As(layer or controlling total capacitance)/Sb2S3(electron blocking layer) was fabricated and its electrical and optical properties were investigated. The photoconductive multilayer is made of evaporated a-Se as the base material, doped with As and Te to prevent the crystallization of a-Se and to enhance red sensitivity, respectively. The multilayer with good image reproducibility has the following deposition condition. The first layer has the thickness of 250\ulcornerat the deposition rate of 250\ulcornersec. The second layer has the thickness of 800\ulcornerat the deposition rate of 250\ulcornersec. The third layer has the thickness of 125\ulcornerat the deposition rate of 250\ulcornersec. The fourth layer has the thickness of 1700\ulcornerunder the Ar gas ambient of 50x10**-3torr. The image pick-up tube, employing this multilayer demonstrates the following characteristics. The photosensitivity is 0.8, the resolution limit is above 300TV line, and the decay lag is about 7%. And spectral response convers the whole visible range. Therfore the application to color TV camera is expected.

보현산천문대 고분산 에셀분광기(BOES) 제작 (CONSTRUCTION OF THE BOAO ECHELLE SPECTROGRAPH (BOES))

  • The BOES (BOAO Echelle Spectrograph), a fiber-fed echelle spectrograph of the BOAO 1.8 m telescope, has been designed and now is being manufactured. The BOES follows a white pupil design collimated with two off-axis parabolic mirrors. The 136mm collimating beam leaving the 41.59 grooves/mm R4 echelle grating is refocused near the narrow folding mirror. Through the two cross-disperser prisms and $\phi250 mm(f/1.5)$ transmission camera, the beam images on EEV $2k\times4k$ CCD. The BOES can take the wavelength range of 3700 to $10100{\AA}$ at a single spot with spectral resolution R = 20000 to 40000 depending on the fiber set employed. We describe the key sciences and performance, current status of construction, and future plan of the BOES.

Updating calibration of CIV-based single-epoch black hole mass estimators

  • Black hole (BH) mass is a fundamental quantity to understand BH growth, galaxy evolution, and connection between them. Thus, obtaining accurate and precise BH mass estimates over cosmic time is of paramount importance. The rest-frame UV CIV ${\lambda}1549$ broad emission line is commonly used for BH mass estimates in high-redshift AGNs (i.e., $2{\leq}z{\leq}5$) when single-epoch (SE) optical spectra are available. Achieving correct and accurate calibration for CIV-based SE BH mass estimators against the most reliable reverberation-mapping based BH mass estimates is thus practically important and still useful. By performing multi-component spectral decomposition analysis to obtained high-quality HST UV spectra for the updated sample of local reverberation-mapped AGNs including new HST STIS observations, CIV emission line widths and continuum luminosities are consistently measured. Using a Bayesian hierarchical model with MCMC sampling based on Hamiltonian Monte Carlo algorithm (Stan NUTS), we provide the most consistent and accurate calibration of CIV-based BH mass estimators for the three line width characterizations, i.e., full width at half maximum (FWHM), line dispersion (${\sigma}_{line}$), and mean absolute deviation (MAD), in the extended BH mass dynamic range of log $M_{BH}/M_{\odot}=6.5-9.1$.

뇌전기파 분석용 FFT 프로세서 설계 (A design of FFT processor for EEG signal analysis)

  • 본 논문에서는 의료 서비스를 위한 뇌전기파(EEG : electroencephalogram) 신호 분석용 FFT(Fast Fourier Transform) 프로세서를 구현하였다. 실시간으로 발생하는 긴 신호를 short-time FFT 처리하기 위해 Hamming 창 함수를 사용하였으며, 이로 인해 감소되는 양끝의 값은 1/2 오버랩 시켜주어 보완하였다. 0~100[Hz] 사이의 주파수 특성을 가지는 뇌전기파의 효율적인 대역 분석을 위해 256-point FFT 프로세서를 radix-4 알고리듬을 적용하여 구현하였고, 단일 메모리 뱅크 구조를 사용하여 집적도를 높였다. 설계된 FFT 프로세서는 연산오차가 3% 이내로 높은 연산 정밀도를 갖는다.

Photoluminescence Excitation Spectroscopy Studies of Anodically Etched and Oxidized Porous Zn

  • Photoluminescence excitation (PLE) spectroscopy studies were performed for anodically etched porous Zn, which exhibited a PL in the blue/violet spectral range peaking at 420 nm (2.95 eV), and oxidzed porous Zn at 380$^{\circ}C$ for 10 min and 12 h. A broad absorption band was observed at 4.07 eV (305 nm), 3.49 (355 nm) for anodically etched porous Zn. In contrast, both the oxidized porous Zn and sintered ZnO exhibited an almost identical one broad absorption band at 3.85 eV (322 nm), when PLE spectra were measured at 378 nm (3.28 eV). The oxidized porous Zn and sintered ZnO, which displayed both UV and green luminescence band, showed an additional absorption band at 389 nm (3.19 eV) and 467 nm (2.66 eV). In contrast, no significant absorption band was detected for a 10-min oxidized porous Zn, which only displayed one UV luminescence void of deep-level luminescence. These absorption bands determined by PLE studies enabled a clear understanding of an emission mechanism for the UV and green luminescence from ZnO.

단일발광층을 이용한 백색 OLED (White OLEDs with a Single Emissive Layer)

  • We demonstrated efficient white light emitting OLEDs with a single emissive layer structure, which was blue-emitting 1,4-bis[2,2-diphenylvinyl]biphenyl (DPVBi) doped with blue luminescent amino-substituted distyrylarylene amine (DSA-amine) and red luminescent [2,6-bis[2-[5-(dibutylamino) phenyl]vinyl]-4H -pyran-4-ylidene]propanedinitrile (DADB). Through the optimization of the device structure, the white light emission with full visible spectral range was obtained. Its CIE color coordinates was (0.32,0.42) at 10 $mA/cm^2$ and the external quantum efficiency, the luminance efficiency and the luminance yield were 3.7 %, 3.3 lm/W and 9.0 cd/A, respectively.

High Dispersion Spectra of the Elliptical Planetary Ring Nebula NGC 6803

  • NGC 6803 is an elliptical ring shape planetary nebula. We analyzed the high dispersion spectra which had been observed with the Hamilton Echelle Spectrograph attached to the 3-m Shane telescope of Lick Observatory. We also investigated the low dispersion UV spectral data obtained with the 60-cm interstellar ultraviolet explorer. Diverse excitation lines were found from neutral to quadruply ionized ions. The temperature diagnostic lines indicate relatively low electron temperatures, i.e., $T_{\epsilon}{\leq}9500$ K for most lines except for [ClIV] - 11,500 K. In spite of its simplistic bi-laterally symmetrical elliptical shape, the nebula appears to be very complex of a hugh density range from 1300 to 80,000 $cm^3$. A comparison of the two epoch data suggests that the density increase occurred in the high excitation line zone near the inner boundary. We derived the chemical abundances of He, C, N, O, Ne, S, Ar, Cl, and K. The chemical abundances of NGC 6803 are enhanced compared with the average Galactic planetary nebula. Our self-consistent photo-ionization model study implies that the effective temperature of the central star is 90,000 K and its luminosity is 2400 $L_{\odot}$. The evolutionary track suggests that the progenitor of NGC 6803 was about 0.9 -- 1.0 $M_{\odot}$ star, which might be born from a metal-rich zone near the galactic disk, but now relocated into the present high Galactic latitude.

  • This present work focuses on the influence of nonlinearities associated with impact on the rocking behavior of a rigid body block subjected to a two-dimensional excitation in the horizontal and vertical directions. The nonlinearities in rocking system are found to be strongly dependent on the impact between the block and the base that abruptly reduces the kinetic energy. In this study, the rocking systems of the two types are considered : The first is an undamped rocking system model that disregards the energy dissipation during the impact and the second is a damped rocking system, which incorporates energy dissipation during the impact. The response analysis is carried out by a numerical method using a non-dimensional rocking equation in which the variations in the excitation levels are considered. Chaos responses are observed over a wide range of parameter values, and particularly in the case of large vertical displacements, the chaotic characteristics are observed in the time histories, Poincare sections, the power spectral density and the largest Lyapunov exponents of the rocking responses. Complex behavior characteristics of rocking responses are illustrated by the Poincare sections.

  • 본 논문에서는 고체상호간 미끄름접촉에 의해 발생하는 진동과 소음의 특성을 조사하기 위해서 실험과 이론해석을 행하였다. 미끄름접촉과 관련된 소음에는 brake squeal 혹은 wheel screech등과 같이 stick-slip 형태의 동적 불안정 상태와 관련이 있는 squeal noise와, 겉보기로 동적 안정 상태에 있으나 미끄름접촉면간에 내재하는 미끄름접촉 고유의 불규칙한 동특성에 기인하여 발생하는 rubbing noise가 있다. 본 연구의 대상은 보다 기본적인 형태인 후자에 한한다.
