교사들의 음성문제 경험과 발생요인 분석 (A Study on Experience of Voice Problems and Risk Factors in School Teachers)

  • This study was intended to examine the pattern and level of experience of voice problems and risk factors in school teacher, to offer basic data to prevent voice problems. The subjects were 180 school teachers from primary, middle, and high school teachers in C City, Chonbuk. Data were collected by questionnaires survey from April 30, 2001 to May 10, 2001. 56.6% of the subjects experienced voice problems such as "H-notes difficult"($2.68{\pm}.86$), followed by "Tired voice"($2.32{\pm}.93$), "Effortful voice"($2.27{\pm}.90$), and "Drying of throat"($2.21{\pm}.91$). According to general characteristics, smoking subjects showed higher voice problem than no smoking subjects and this difference was statistically significant(t=2.76, p=.007). According to voice related characteristics, "Speaking loudly" subjects showed higher voice problem than those no "Speaking loudly"(t=-2.02, p=.045). "Speaking effortful" subjects measured higher voice problem than those of "Speaking effortful" and this difference was statistically significant(t=-3.34, p=.001). The inspection of the relation of cause affecting school teachers showed that it had an interacting effect of voice habit, smoking, experienced voice problem, treatment(due to voice problem) experience, by staged it accounted for 55.3% of the total voice problem. The total voice problem indicated a positive correlation(p=.000). Conclusion: over half of the school teachers have experienced voice problems, higher perceived related of voice symptom and physical symptom factors. Also, because there are significant differences in voice problem according to smoking, voice habits of "Speaking loudly", "Speaking effortful", experienced voice problem, treatment(due to voice problem) experience.

과제 수행 중심의 한국어 말하기 수업에서 담화 분석 활동의 활용 방안 (A Method of Using Discourse Analysis Activity in Task-based Korean Speaking Class)

  • The purpose of this paper is to suggest a discourse analysis activity that can be used in the stage after performing tasks in task-based Korean speaking class and show its pedagogical advantages. A discourse analysis activity is an metadiscourse activity in which learners speak what they have spoken. By analyzing discourse and performing tasks again, learners can enhance their fluency and accuracy, make their knowledges in target language more stable and extend them, and develop problem solving skills. Consequently, this facilitates learners' acquisition of Korean language. This paper reviewed theoretical background of proposing discourse analysis activity, suggested the pedagogical advantages of the analysis, and examined discourse analysis activity in Korean speaking class. And it included the discourse sample of learners in actual class.

Magic, Group Interaction, and English Speaking Proficiency Development for Young Learners

  • The current study explored a pedagogical possibility of utilizing magic as a source of communicative tasks for young learners in developing their English speaking proficiency. Fifteen primary school students participated in the study, which consisted of a 17-week period of task-based English instruction and data collection. The participants were instructed to accomplish various types of magic task through collaborative group interaction. The data collected for the study pertained to the students' linguistic outputs, interactions in group and attitudes to English learning. They were analyzed for how magic tasks affect the students' English proficiency developments and group interactions. The study results suggested the significant improvement in the students' English speaking proficiencies. They revealed that magic tasks contributed to a) enhancing the motivation to speak in English, b) stimulating the creative and problem-solving processes, and c) providing the sufficient opportunity to repeat and internalize the target expressions. The study results also indicated that the students' satisfaction with their group members and tasks seemed to have positive influences on their interactions in group and English proficiency development. Further discussion and pedagogical implications are provided as well as the study limitations.

5학년 아동들의 수학적 의사소통 능력에 관한 사례 연구 - 말하기, 쓰기 능력을 중심으로 - (A case study on 5th graders' mathematical communication ability - focused on speaking and writing abilities -)

  • The purposes of this study were to explore in depth about 5th graders' mathematical speaking and writing abilities and to investigate differences on those abilities. The study involved 3 5th graders and their speaking and writing abilities in geometry area were analyzed. According to the results of the study, the children had difficulties in selecting and using appropriate mathematical languages to explain mathematical concepts, mathematical ideas, and problem solving steps. The children who participated in the study showed higher ability in speaking than writing.

노인의 본인인지 구강건강상태와 우울감 (Association of self-perceived oral health and depression in the elderly: the sixth Korea national health and nutrition examination survey(the 6th KNHANES))

  • Objectives: The aim of the study was to investigate the association of self-perceived oral health and depression in the Korean elderly. Methods: The subjects were 1,329 elderly in Korea from the sixth Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (the 6th KNHANES). The dependent variable was depression that continued more than two weeks. Model I for the impacts of depression on self-reported oral health, Model II for the impacts of depression on chewing problem, Model III for the impacts of depression on speaking problem was evaluated. PASW Statistics 18.0 version was used for frequency analysis, chi-square test and logistic regression analysis. Results: Female elderly were much more prone to depression than male. Female had lower monthly compensation, less medicaid, chewing problem, speaking problem, and less education. For these reasons, they tended to have more depression than male (p<0.001). Self-perceived oral health impacts on depression included poor self-reported oral health(p<0.01), poor chewing problem(p<0.01) and poor speaking problem(p<0.05). On the other hand, male did not show a statistically significant association. Conclusions: The study showed the self-perceived oral health related quality of life had a significant influence on depression in the elderly. The continuing lifelong oral health care can prevent depression in the later life because oral health care improvement can enhance the self-perceived oral health status.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 아동들의 수학적 의사소통 능력 중 말하기 능력과 쓰기 능력에 대해서 심도 깊게 알아보고, 말하기 능력과 쓰기 능력에서 어떤 차이점이 있는지를 조사하는 것이다. 3명의 5학년 아동들이 본 연구에 참여하였고 도형 영역에서 그들의 말하기 능력과 쓰기 능력이 분석되었다. 아동들은 자신이 알고 있는 수학적 개념이나 문제 해결 과정을 말 또는 글로 설명하기 위해서 적절한 수학적 언어를 선택하여 사용하는데 어려움을 나타내고 있었다. 본 연구에 참여한 아동들의 경우에는 말하기 능력이 쓰기 능력보다 좋은 것으로 나타났다.

  • The most basic means of communication among humans is a voice. Without speaking of voice technologies, we found it is important and convenient to use a voice in everyday life. But. in consideration to speech recognition systems, we can't always desire a normal voice input as input signal to the system. Generally speaking. a pathological voice as against a normal which is a voice with a problem in the larynx. could be also special case of input voice. Of course, but the distortion of a speech signal by environmental effects i.e., noise or transmission channel was a raised problem. we will take up a pathological voices with laryngeal disease which is essential distortion factor in voice. Also, we are to find out the difference of acoustic parameters distribution between normal and pathological voice by a statistical method in our research.

교실 게시판을 활용한 비동시적 논의에서의 탐구 문제 생성 관련 상호작용 분석 (Analysis of Students' Interaction for Generating Inquiry Problem in Asynchronous Discussion with the Class Bulletin Board)

  • This research is to observe and analyze the student interactions when inquiry problems were generated along with the students by using asynchronous discussion methods with the class bulletin board. For this research, 10 students from a single class of 6th grade were selected. The subject students were divided into 2 groups by cognitive levels. After the students were submitted the 4 problem situations for 1 week each, the discussion process was analyzed. The research results are as follows. First, the analysis of the step by step interactive discussion showed that several students answered for the question from a single student while discussing first for the question and answer in a form of a question with many multiple answers without any connections with the previously asked questions. At the end of the discussion, one to two students answered to a question by taking turns and the type of discussion changed to one question - one answer type by answering to the person who spoke prior to the next. Second, the discussion took place with the students in the transitional stage speaking in time in order, to provide comments to the bottom of the linear form and students in the formal operational stage students speaking in temporal order, regardless of the number of comments in the direction of the radiation(mind map) forms. The individual comment speaking rates were similar in the two groups so the students were able to speak indiscriminately.

공학인 대상 ${\ll}$공적 말하기${\gg}$ 교육의 만족도와 학습자 요구 분석 사례 연구 (A Case Study on Learning Satisfaction and Learners' Needs Towards ${\ll}$Public Speaking${\gg}$ Course at Pusan National University)

  • The purpose of this paper is to verify the education effects of program for engineering students and extract the essential components to be included in the learning contents. For this, we investigated the lecture contents critically and analyzed the evaluation result of questionnaire to examine the students' learning satisfaction and learners' needs concerning the effectiveness of course. The survey using two types of questionnaires was conducted with 210 junior and senior students taking lectures of ${\ll}$Presentation and Debate Skills${\gg}$ in the college of engineering at Pusan National University. According to the evaluation result, students experienced various speech education's effects concerning (1) verbal components, (2) non-verbal components, (3) problem solving competence, (4) teamwork skills, etc. On the other side there have been pointed out as problems in the ${\ll}$Presentation and Debate Skills${\gg}$ class, such as (1) a large number of assignments, (2) insufficiency of more refined evaluation method for the individuals and (3) a well-balanced arrangement between 'theory' and 'practice' was needed. However more importantly, the individual students can not do practice sufficiently owing to the large scale of class. Therefore the various and effective ways to help students improve their communicative competence have to be developed further. Finally, there have been extracted several essential components to be included in the class and implications for ameliorating the class were discussed and suggested in detail.

성인의 구강건강 상태와 건강관련 삶의 질 관련성: EuroQoL-5 Dimension 구성요소를 중심으로 (Association between Oral Health Status and Health Related Quality of Life (EuroQoL-5 Dimension))

  • 본 연구는 2013년 KNHANE 자료를 이용하여 우리나라 성인의 구강건강 상태와 HRQoL 관련성을 EQ5D 구성요소를 중심으로 평가하고자 하였다. 16~64세 성인 3,252명을 최종 분석대상자로 하여 다음과 같은 결론을 얻을 수 있었다. 치아통증과 운동능력, 통증 및 불편은 통계적으로 유의한 관련성을 나타냈고, 저작 불편과 말하기 불편은 EQ5D 구성요소 5가지 모두 통계적으로 유의한 관련성을 나타냈다. 주관적 구강건강 인식은 자기관리, 일상활동, 통증 및 불편, 불안 및 우울과 통계적으로 유의한 관련성을 나타내어 구강건강 상태와 EQ5D 구성요소의 관련성을 확인하였다. 또한 EQ5D 구성요소에 미치는 영향을 통제변수를 보정 후 로지스틱 회귀분석으로 살펴본 결과 치아통증, 저작 불편, 말하기 불편, 주관적 구강건강 인식이 불안 및 우울에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 구강건강 증진은 HRQoL을 향상시킬 수 있는 방안이 되므로, 구강건강의 중요성을 인식하고 예방차원의 교육 및 프로그램이 필요하다고 생각된다.
