The laser ultrasonic technique is gaining popularity for nondestructive evaluation (NDE) applications because it is a noncontact and couplant-free method and can inspect a target from a remote distance. For the conventional laser ultrasonic techniques, a pulsed laser is often used to generate broadband ultrasonic waves in a target structure. However, for crack detection using nonlinear ultrasonic modulation, it is necessary to generate narrowband ultrasonic waves. In this study, a pulsed laser is shaped into dual-line arrays using a spatial mask and used to simultaneously excite narrowband ultrasonic waves in the target structure at two distinct frequencies. Nonlinear ultrasonic modulation will occur between the two input frequencies when they encounter a fatigue crack existing in the target structure. Then, a nonlinear damage index (DI) is defined as a function of the magnitude of the modulation components and computed over the target structure by taking advantage of laser scanning. Finally, the fatigue crack is detected and localized by visualizing the nonlinear DI over the target structure. Numerical simulations and experimental tests are performed to examine the possibility of generating narrowband ultrasonic waves using the spatial mask. The performance of the proposed fatigue crack localization technique is validated by conducting an experiment with aluminum plates containing real fatigue cracks.
Purpose: This research proposes a new modified Recency-Frequency-Monetary (RFM) model by extending the model with spatial analysis for supporting decision-makers in discovering the promotional target market. Research design, data and methodology: This quantitative research utilizes data-mining techniques and the RFM model to cluster a university's provider schools. The RFM model was modified by adapting its variables to the university's marketing context and adding a district's potential (D) variable based on heatmap analysis using Geographic Information System (GIS) and K-means clustering. The K-prototype algorithm and the Elbow method were applied to find provider school clusters using the proposed RFM-D model. After profiling the clusters, the target segment was assigned. The model was validated using empirical data from an Indonesian university, and its performance was compared to the Customer Lifetime Value (CLV)-based RFM utilizing accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score metrics. Results: This research identified five clusters. The target segment was chosen from the highest-value and high-value clusters that comprised 17.80% of provider schools but can contribute 75.77% of students. Conclusions: The proposed model recommended more targeted schools in higher-potential districts and predicted the target segment with 0.99 accuracies, outperforming the CLV-based model. The empirical findings help university management determine the promotion location and allocate resources for promotional information distribution and student recruitment.
The purpose of the present study was to examine gaze effects on spatial and kinematic characteristics during a pointing task. Subjects were asked to watch and point to an aimed target (2 mm in diameter) displayed on a vertically mounted board. Four gaze conditions were developed as combinations of "seeing-aiming" in terms of the eye movements: Focal-Focal (F-F), Focal-Fixing (F-X), Fixing-Focal (X-F), and Fixing-Fixing (X-X). Both the home target and an aimed target were presented for 1 second and then were disappeared in F-F and X-F. In X-F and X-X, only an aimed target disappeared after 1 second. Subjects were asked to point (with index finger tip) to an aimed target accurately as soon as the aimed target was removed. A significant main effect of gaze was found (p<.01) for normalized movement time. Peripheral retina targets had significantly larger absolute error compared to central retina targets on the x (medio-lateral) and z (superior-inferior) axes (p<.01). A significant undershooting to peripheral retina targets on the x axis was found (p<.01). F-F and X-F had larger peak velocities compared to F-X and X-X (p<.01). F-F and X-F were characterized by more time spent in the deceleration phase compared to F-X and X-X (p<.01). The present study demonstrates that central vision utilizes a form of on-line visual processing to reach to an object, and thus increases spatial accuracy. However, peripheral vision utilizes a relatively off-line visual processing with a dependency on proprioceptive information.
The building boundary should be registered in the cadastral map for the protection of property using the expansion of the registration items in the cadastral record and the construction of 3D-cadastral information system. In this study, the efficiency of registering the building boundary was suggested by non-target TS survey through the comparison between target TS and non-target TS survey about an accuracy and efficiency. At the result of this research, the RMSE of target TS and non-target TS survey is the X; ${\pm}0.056m$ and Y; ${\pm}0.043m$. Therefore, non-target TS survey shows the high accuracy. Also, the non-target TS survey is more efficient cost on time and personnel than target TS.

A novel method based on Surf points is proposed to detect and lock-track single ground target in aerial videos. Videos captured by moving cameras contain complex motions, which bring difficulty in moving object detection. Our approach contains three parts: moving target template detection, search area estimation and target tracking. Global motion estimation and compensation are first made by grids-sampling Surf points selecting and matching. And then, the single ground target is detected by joint spatial-temporal information processing. The temporal process is made by calculating difference between compensated reference and current image and the spatial process is implementing morphological operations and adaptive binarization. The second part improves KALMAN filter with surf points scale information to predict target position and search area adaptively. Lastly, the local Surf points of target template are matched in this search region to realize target tracking. The long-term tracking is updated following target scaling, occlusion and large deformation. Experimental results show that the algorithm can correctly detect small moving target in dynamic scenes with complex motions. It is robust to vehicle dithering and target scale changing, rotation, especially partial occlusion or temporal complete occlusion. Comparing with traditional algorithms, our method enables real time operation, processing $520{\times}390$ frames at around 15fps.
When radar return contains strong jammers along with ground clutter echo, a STAP(space-time adaptive processing) algorithms tend to suppress jammer components more severely than it does the clutter. This hinders moving target detection in that the target echo is apt to be buried by clutter echo. This paper presents a two-step STAP algorithm in which the pre-suppression of jammer by the spatial filtering is applied, prior to applying the STAP algorithm. We propose how to find the coefficients of the spatial filter and show that the spatial filtering barely alter the spectra of the target and the clutter echo, having only to suppress the jammers. Finally, we simulate a STAP scenario with strong jammers and show the proposed algorithm can improve STAP performance.
Active acoustic array signal was measured in the East Sea and the South sea and spatial coherence was analyzed. The measurement of ambient noise, target reflection signal, sea surface backscattering signals took place including environmental measurements of sea wind, and vertical temperature profiles. The spatial coherence of ambient noise was lower than that of target reflection signal in the South Sea. The spatial coherence of target reflection signal was above 0.5 over all array length. The spatial coherence of sea surface backscattering signal was higher in high incident angle. The maximum non-dimensional array length was 3.0 ($26^{\circ}$) and 3.5 ($32^{\circ}$) to have spatial coherence above 0.5 in the East Sea. To find a design criteria for array configuration and array performance, more measurements of temporal and spatial coherence will be needed continuously in the future.

This paper deals with human spatial cognition using visual and auditory stimulation. More specially, this investigation is to observe the relationship between the head and the eye motor system for the localization of visual target direction in space and to try to describe what is the role of right-side versus left-side pinna. In the experiment of visual stimulation, nineteen red LEDs (Luminescent Diodes, Brightness: $210\;cd/^2$) arrayed in the horizontal plane of the surrounding panel are used. Here the LEDs are located 10 degrees apart from each other. Physiological parameters such as EOG (Electro-Oculography), head movement, and their synergic control are measured by BIOPAC system and 3SPACE FASTRAK. In the experiment of auditory stimulation, one side of the pinna function was distorted intentionally by inserting a short tube in the ear canal. The localization error caused by right and left side pinna distortion was investigated as well. Since a laser pointer showed much less error (0.5%) in localizing target position than FASTRAK (30%) that has been generally used, a laser pointer was used for the pointing task. It was found that harmonic components were not essential for auditory target localization. However, non-harmonic nearby frequency components was found to be more important in localizing the target direction of sound. We have found that the right pinna carries out one of the most important functions in localizing target direction and pure tone with only one frequency component is confusing to be localized. It was also found that the latency time is shorter in self moved tracking (SMT) than eye alone tracking (EAT) and eye hand tracking (EHT). These results can be used in further study on the characterization of human spatial cognition.
Images can be contaminated with different types of noise, for different reasons. The neighborhood averaging and smoothing by image averaging are the classical image processing techniques for noise removal. The classical spatial filtering refers to the aggregate of pixels composing an image and operating directly on these pixels. To reduce or remove effectively noise in image sequences, it usually needs to use noise reduction filter based on space or time domain such as method of spatial or temporal filter. However, the method of spatial filter can generally cause that signals of objects as the target are also blurred. In this paper, we propose temporal filter using the piece-wise quadratic function model and enhancement algorithm of image quality for the performance improvement of target detection and tracking by heterogeneous noise reduction. Image tracking simulation that utilizes real IIR(Imaging Infra-Red) images is employed to evaluate the performance of the proposed image processing algorithm.
