  • Myocardial tagging technique such as spatial modulation of magnetization (SPAMM) allows the study of myocardial motion with high accuracy. Tagging contrast of such a tagging images can affect to the accuracy of the estimation of tag intersection in order to analyze the myocardial motion. Tagging contrast can be affected by tagline spacing. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between tagline spacing of SPAMM image and tagging contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR) experimentally. One healthy volunteer was undergone electrocardiographically triggered MR imaging with SPAMM-based tagging pulse sequence at a 1.5T MR scanner (Gyroscan Intera, Philips Medical System, Netherland). Horizontally modulated stripe patterns were imposed with a range from 3.6mm to 9.6mm of tagline spacing. Images of the left ventricle (LV) wall were acquired at the mid-ventricle level during cardiac cycle with FEEPI (TR/TE/FA=5.8/2.2/10). Tagging CNR for each image was calculated with a software which developed in our group. During contraction, tagging CNR was more rapidly decreased in case of short tagline spacing than in case of long tagline spacing. In the same heart phase, CNR was increased corresponding with tag line spacing. Especially, at the fully contracted heart phase, CNR was more rapidly increased than the other heart phases as a function of tagline spacing.

  • The concentration-dependence of and the effect of light on urea decomposition, and the suppression of urea decomposition by ammonium were studied to understand adaptations in phytoplankton to utilization of urea in the estuarine system of the Mankyung and Dongjin rivers and a hypertrophied pond. Results of size-fractionation showed that bacterial fraction played a minor role (14%) in urea decomposition in the estuary. However, the role of bacteria in urea decomposition seemed to increase in a hypertrophic pond. Natural phytoplankton communities exhibited a monophonic or biphasic kinetics of urea decomposition over a wide range of concentration (upto 7.7 mM). the addition of high concentration of ammonium and incubation of the euphotic samples in the dark caused reductions in the urea decomposition rates. It is suggested that understanding of adaptations in phytoplankton to urea decomposition would help to study the temporal and spatial variabilities of urea decomposition rates in the field and the significance of urea in nitrogen cycle.

  • Many researcher's efforts have made a significant advancement of space frame structure with various portion, and it becomes the most outsanding one of space structures. However, with the characteristics of thin and long term of spacing, the unstable behavior of space structure is shown by initial imperfection, erection procedure or joint, especially space frame structure represents more. This kind of unstable problem could not be set up clearly and there is a huge difference between theory and experiment. Moreover, the discrete structure such as space frame has more complex solution, this it is not easy to derive the formulation of design about space structure. In this space frame structure, the character of rise-span ratio or load mode is represented by the instability of space frame structure with initial imperfection, and snap-through or bifurcation might be the main phenomenon. Therefore, in this study, space frame structure which has a lot of aesthetic effect and profitable for large space covering single layer is dealt. And because that the unstable behavior due to variation of inner force resistance in the elastic range is very important collapse mechanism, I would like to investigate unstable character as a nonlinear behavior with a geometric nonlinear. In order to study the instability. I derive tangent stiffness matrix using finite element method and with displacement incremental method perform nonlinear analysis of unit space structure, star dome and 3-ring star dome considering rise-span $ratio(\mu}$ and load $ratio(R_L)$ for analyzing unstable phenomenon.

  • A computer code that is based on the Pseudo-spectral finite difference algorithm using staggered grid is developed for the wave propagation modeling in the time domain. The advantage of a finite difference approximation is that any geometrically complicated media can be modeled. Staggered grids are advantageous as it provides much more accuracy than using a regular grid. Pseudo-spectral methods are those that evaluate spatial derivatives by multiplying a wavenumber by the Fourier transform of a pressure wave-field and performing the inverse Fourier transform. This method is very stable and reduces memory and the number of computations. The synthetic results by this algorithm agree with the analytic solution in the infinite and half space. The time domain modeling was implemented in various models. such as half-space. Pekeris waveguide, and range dependent environment. The snapshots showing the total wave-field reveals the Propagation characteristic or the acoustic waves through the complex ocean environment.

  • For given 3D geographic data which is usually of DEM(Data Elevation Model) format, we have to represent and manipulate the data in various ways. For example, we have to draw a part of them in drawing canvas. To do this we give users a way of selecting area they want to visualize. And we have to give a base tool for users to select the local area which can be chosen for some geographic operation. In this paper, we propose a 3D data processing method for representation and manipulation. The method utilizes the major properties of DEM and TIN(Triangular Irregular Network), respectively. Furthermore, by approximating DEM with a TIN of an appropriate resolution, we can support a fast and realistic surface modeling. We implement the structure with the following 4 level stages. The first is an optimal resolution of DEM which represent all of wide range of geographic data. The second is the full resolution DEM which is a subarea of original data generated by user's selection in our implemeatation. The third is the TIN approximation of this data with a proper resolution determined by the relative position with the camera. And the last step is multi-resolution TIN data whose resolution is dynamically decided by considering which direction user take notice currently. Specialty, the TIN of the last step is designed for realtime camera navigation. By using the structure we implemented realtime surface clipping, efficient approximation of height field and the locally detailed surface LOD(Level of Detail). We used the initial 10-meter sampling DEM data of Seoul, KOREA and implement the structure to the 3D Virtual GIS based on the Internet.

  • We present microscopy based hyperspectral imaging system that successively shows high spatial (micrometer) and temporal resolutions (milisecond), and acquired pseudocolor hemoglobin saturation map a result of various image processing techniques can provide additional information such as oxygen transport, abnormal vascularity and therapeutic effects besides structural and physiological measurements in various diseases. To increase understanding of vascular defects several optical methods of imaging for preclinical/clinical assessment have been developed so far. However, they have some limitations for outcoming resolution and user satisfaction level compared to its cost. A hyperspectral imaging system has shown a wide range of vascular characteristics associated with hypervascularity, aberrant angiogenesis or abnormal vascular remodeling in many diseases. This vascular characteristic is considered as a key component to diagnose and detect a type of disease as evidenced by them.

  • Aiming at motion analysis and compensation, it is essential to conduct motion detection with images. However, motion detection and tracking from low-altitude images obtained from an unmanned aerial system may pose many challenges due to degraded image quality caused by platform motion, image instability and illumination fluctuation. This research tackles these challenges by proposing a modified joint transform correlation algorithm which includes two preprocessing strategies. In spatial domain, a modified fuzzy edge detection method is proposed for preprocessing the input images. In frequency domain, to eliminate the disturbance of self-correlation items, the cross-correlation items are extracted from joint power spectrum output plane. The effectiveness and accuracy of the algorithm has been tested and evaluated by both simulation and real datasets in this research. The simulation experiments show that the proposed approach can derive satisfactory peaks of cross-correlation and achieve detection accuracy of displacement vectors with no more than 0.03pixel for image pairs with displacement smaller than 20pixels, when addition of image motion blurring in the range of 0~10pixel and 0.002variance of additive Gaussian noise. Moreover, this paper proposes quantitative analysis approach using tri-image pairs from real datasets and the experimental results show that detection accuracy can be achieved with sub-pixel level even if the sampling frequency can only attain 50 frames per second.

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the kinematics of young adults during ramp climbing at different inclinations. Methods: Twenty-three subjects ascended and descended four steps at four different inclinations(level, $8^{\circ},\;16^{\circ},\;24^{\circ}$). Temporal-spatial parameters were measured by GaitRite system(standard mat). Groups difference was analysed with on-way ANOVA and Student-Newman-Keuls test. Results: The different kinematics of ramp ascent and descent were analysed and compared to level walking patterns. In ascending ramps, step length and stride length decreased with $24^{\circ}$ inclination (p<.000). Stance duration increased with $24^{\circ}$, but swing duration decreased with $24^{\circ}$ inclination (p<.000). Step time and velocity decreased with $16^{\circ}C,\;24^{\circ}$ inclination (p<.000). Cadence decreased with all inclination($8^{\circ},\;16^{\circ},\;24^{\circ}$)(p<.000). In descending ramps, step length and stride length, velocity decreased with all inclination($8^{\circ},\;16^{\circ},\;-24^{\circ}$)(p<.000). Stance duration increased with all inclination($8^{\circ},\;-16^{\circ},\;-24^{\circ}$) and swing duration decreased with all inclination($-8^{\circ},\;-16^{\circ},\;-24^{\circ}$)(p<.000). But Step time was not differentiated with different inclinations. Cadence decreased with only. $8^{\circ}$ inclination(p<.05). Conclusion: These results suggest that there is a certain inclination angle or angular range where subjects do switch between level walking and ramp walking gait pattern. This shows their motor control strategy between level and ramp walking. Further studies are necessary to confirm and detect the ascent and descent ramp gait patterns.

  • The climate of Korea has clear rainy and dry season due to seasonal wind. In general, The rainy season in Korea is from early summer through to early fall. And precipitation accounted for more than half of the total annual rainfall in this period. This study is aiming to analysis of variation in saturation flow rate at signalized intersection during rainfall. The range of spatial is urban signalized intersections in Seoul and temporal is rainfall or ideal condition in daylight. Traffic data are collected through CCTV of Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, and on-site video recordings directly. Weather condition data are collected from the Korea Meteorological Administration. In addition, the value of saturation headway and saturation flow rate, in rainfall condition, are derived through video frame analysis. As a results of analysis, decrease of saturation flow rate and increase of saturation headway during rainfall were confirmed by comparison with non-rainfall. The higher rainfall rate is, the more decreased saturation flow rate at the intersections. Rainfall rate is divided three area by the results of statistical test, and saturation flow rate decrease 7%, 17%, 21%, respectively.

  • Recent astronomical survey observations have produced substantial amounts of data as well as completely changed conventional methods of analyzing astronomical data. Both classical statistical inference and modern machine learning methods have been used in every step of data analysis that range from data calibration to inferences of physical models. We are seeing the growing popularity of using machine learning methods in classical problems of astronomical data analysis due to low-cost data acquisition using cheap large-scale detectors and fast computer networks that enable us to share large volumes of data. It is common to consider the effects of inhomogeneous spatial and temporal coverage in the analysis of big astronomical data. The growing size of the data requires us to use parallel distributed computing environments as well as machine learning algorithms. Distributed data analysis systems have not been adopted widely for the general analysis of massive astronomical data. Gathering adequate training data is expensive in observation and learning data are generally collected from multiple data sources in astronomy; therefore, semi-supervised and ensemble machine learning methods will become important for the analysis of big astronomical data.
