Resident's Usage and needs for the improvement of Community Facilities in Public Rental Apartments (임대주택 커뮤니티시설의 거주자 이용현황 및 개선 요구)

  • Nowadays, public rental apartments' community facilities emphasize only their quantity aspect without considering residents' characteristics, leading their installation regulations to be based on only the number of households, which is problematic. As a result, in many cases, residents, after moving in, alter the facility usage or remodel the facilities for their use. Hereby, this study conducted focus group interviews with public rental apartments' residents as to find out space conditions of and improvement demands for the community facilities. Two public rental apartment complexes in Seoul and Gyeongi-do which were built after 2007 were selected for this study. As for the survey method, workshop panel was employed. Four people in each age class of infants, children, adolescents, adults, and seniors were formed into one group, and a total of 40 people in 10 groups were surveyed. The survey was continuously conducted from February to March in 2009. The study findings can be summarized as follows. 1) Among community facilities, there were more satisfactory outdoor facilities than satisfactory indoor facilities. Residents expressed satisfaction with the facilities linked with natural environment. The causes of unsatisfactory facilities were mostly poor management. 2) The facilities demanded by the residents included ones relevant to study, exercise, and hobbies. As public rental apartments are resided mostly by low-income families, study and hobby activities bring them cost problems. Therefore, it is needed that the apartment complexes support diverse such activities 3) As for facilities demanded for usage alteration, a residents' meeting room accounted for the most popular opinions. As it was used only once a week, its usage was very low. It should be opened to the residents and allowed to be used in various ways. 4) As for demands of changing spatial characteristics, outdoor exercise facilities accounted for the most opinions. Although they were installed in most cases, they were damaged and poorly managed, therefore being in need of improvement in operation and management. In order to maximally utilize public rental apartments' community facilities, facility planning in consideration of various age groups from residents' viewpoint and sustainable systematic management are required.

  • Most of marine pollution have been occurred by oil spill accidents resulted from ship accidents in South Korea. This year there were two large oil spill accidents: the Yeosu Oil Spill Accident (2014.01.31.(Fri.) 09:35 LT) and the Captain Vangelis L. Oil Spill Accident (2014.02.15.(Sat.) 14:00 LT). In general, Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) is used in monitoring and detection of oil dumping and spilled oils by accident at sea. Therefore it is expected that KOMPSAT-5, launched successfully last year, will take part in that mission during a normal operation mode. After the two accidents, high spatial resolution optical satellite data including KOMPSAT-3 were acquired February 2 and 14, 2014. In this presentation, we analyzed optical properties of spilled oils from optical satellite imagery to estimate the spilled area and the volume at each region. Finally, a satellite application planning for ocean surveillance in South Korea will be presented.

A Fast Moving Object Tracking Method by the Combination of Covariance Matrix and Kalman Filter Algorithm (공분산 행렬과 칼만 필터를 결합한 고속 이동 물체 추적 방법)

  • This paper proposes a robust method for object tracking based on Kalman filters algorithm and covariance matrix. As a feature of the object to be tracked, covariance matrix ensures the continuity of the moving target tracking in the image frames because the covariance is addressed spatial and statistical properties as well as the correlation properties of the features, despite the changes of the form and shape of the target. However, if object moves faster than operation time, real time tracking is difficult. In order to solve the problem, Kalman filters are used to estimate the area of the moving object and covariance matrices as a feature vector are compared with candidate regions within the estimated Kalman window. The results show that the tracking rate of 96.3% achieved using the proposed method.

  • GML proposed to offer interoperability of geography information is specifying various dynamic object schema for application in the wireless environment. These GML dynamic object schema supports the expression of moving objects that the position and shape change consecutively over time, so practical use of GML is increased in location-based service that provides various application services based on location information of moving objects. In particular, the conventional query languages about GML have been studied with priority given to the integration of geographic information, the support of spatial operations, and etc. However, it lacks the support for moving objects queries. Therefore, in this paper, we propose the moving objects query language that supports moving objects queries for GML documents by extension of XQuery that is standard in query language. Also, data model, algebra operation and various moving objects operators for the proposed query language are designed, and we apply the proposed query language to tornado government organization system to show that the proposed query language can be used effectively in various location-based service.

  • Although the reuse of the cached data for scrolling the map reduces the amount of passed data between client and server, it needs the conversions of data coordinates, selective deletion of objects, cache compaction and object structuring step in the clients. The conversion is a time- intensive operation due to limited resources of mobile phones such as low computing power, small memory. Therefore, in order to control the map efficiently in the vector map service based mobile phones, it is necessary to study the methods which reuse cached objects for reducing wireless network bandwidth and overwhelming the limited resources of mobile phones as well. This paper proposes the methods of reusing pre-received spatial objects for map control in the mobile vector map service system based on client-server architecture. The experiments conducted on the Web GIS systems with real data show that the proposed method is appropriate to map services for mobile phone. We also analyze the advantages and drawbacks between the reuse of cached data and transmission of raw data respectively.

  • Recently, appearance is recognized as competitiveness as well as self expressing means, so understanding of general people have been rapidly changed. Also, since modem people have interest in an operation as well as various cosmetic treatment fields, a plastic surgery clinic is expanding its region to laser treatment and skin care for modem people. However, the plastic surgery clinic is not located in a building for only hospitals, but located in general neighborhood living facilities or an office building, so medical treatment is performed at the place. It is often found that a building plan can not conform to conditions that the hospital requires. This study is to understand a plane deciding factor of the plastic surgery clinic by analyzing it in a limit of building space and functional aspects of the plastic surgery clinic. A study method is first to investigate space composition according to the function, area allocation according to the function and a space privacy region after classifying study objects into large, middle, small scales so as to understand a functional role of the plastic surgery clinic, and secondly to analyze on the base of length of long and short edges of space and a moving line system after classifying common space types of the plastic surgery clinic through plane analysis of the study objects. As a result of the study, functional space difference according to the scale was shown, and the common space types were affected by length of the long and short edges, and it can influence space composition.

Optimal Berth and Crane Scheduling Using Constraint Satisfaction Search and Heuristic Repair (제약만족 탐색과 휴리스틱 교정기법을 이용한 최적 선석 및 크레인 일정계획)

  • The berth and crane scheduling problem in a container terminal encompasses the whole process of assigning berth to each ship, determining the duration of berthing, assigning container cranes to each ship, and determining the specific start and end time of each crane service, for all the ships scheduled to be arriving at the terminal during a certain scheduling horizon. This problem is basically a constraint satisfaction problem in which cranes and berths should be assigned in such a way that all the spatial and temporal constraints are satisfied without any interference. However, it is also an optimization problem because the requested arrival and departure time should be met for as many of the scheduled ships as possible, while the operation cost of the terminal should be minimized. In this paper, we present an effective and efficient approach to solving this type of problem, which combines constrain satisfaction search and heuristic repair. We first employ a constraint satisfaction search to find a feasib1e solution. Then, the feasible solution is modified to a more optimal one by iteratively applying our heuristic repair operations within the framework of constraint satisfaction search. Experimental results with a real data from Pusan East Container Terminal showed that our approach can derive a schedule of satisfactory quality in a very short time.

Relevant Study of Ancient Town Regeneration Construction Based on Theory of Henry Lefebvre -Focused on 'Wu Zhen Ancient Town'- (앙리 르페브르의 이론을 통한 고성구(古城區) 재생구축에 관한 연구 -오진(烏鎭)을 중심으로-)

  • With the continuous expansion and updating of modern cities, the historical and cultural space of ancient city is under increasing impact from the expansion of modern cities. At present, the regeneration and protection of the ancient city has achieved remarkable results together with poor results. Based on this background, this paper has revealed the power operation behind the space production of three regenerated ancient cities with 'spatial practice', 'representation of space' and '"representation of space' as the framework to, and pointed out the influence of stake holders on space shaping and analysis on the construction of regeneration model. From the perspective of specific materials, society, power, and culture, this paper has analyzed the methods of regeneration construction of Wuzhen ancient city, and provided new methods and reference values for how to regenerate and protect ancient cities. Based on these studies and analysis of the regeneration issues in ancient cities and villages, other historical cultural areas, the paper has indicated that it is necessary to coordinate with the government to clarify the issue of property rights, as well as planners and managers, to activate the regional culture and integrate it with modern culture.

A New Method for Thumbnail Extraction in H.264/AVC Bitstreams (H.264/AVC 비트스트림에서 썸네일 추출을 위한 새로운 방법)

  • Recently, thumbnail techniques are required to index a high-performance video at digital convergence-based multimedia service like IPTV and DMB. Therefore a thumbnail extraction method in H.264/AVC bitstreams has been proposed. However, thumbnail quality deterioration problem at converting the general equation of spatial domain to frequency domain which is generated by not considering about H.264/AVC transform and quantization processing and rounding-off operation in intra prediction. In this paper, we propose a new thumbnail extraction method in H.264/AVC bitstreams. The proposed scheme is based on H.264/AVC core-transform for a thumbnail extraction in frequency domain, and probability theory, intra rounding-off error compensation. Through the implementation and performance evaluation, the subjective quality difference between the output of our scheme and the output of reference decoder is negligible and better than the conventional method, and moreover PSNR gain by up to 8.66 dB.

  • The goal of this research is to develop the method of facility management which is used to manage the facility efficiently by using existing analyses of a system and a operation, and establish the method of a facility administration by applying AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process) model. Because the standard of a accuracy in spacial analysis and calculation is a unclear, the exact analysis of a geographic data for a decision-making needs statistical analysis and administrator-centered type of system didn't satisfy the desire of users. There must be the existing general statistics module, integrated internet GIS and the composition of interface in order to structure a spacial statistics analysis methods that satisfy the matters desired in internet GIS into the spacial analysis function. This paper presents the need of internet GIS and AHP Model in supporting and managing function of all facilities in campus and introduce the possibility of applying.
