In this study spatial analysis of PM10 was performed to Particulate Materials(PM) less than $10{\mu}m$ in diameter in Seoul city. Because PM10 are responsible for the increasing mortality rate of lung cancer and cardiovascular diseases, spatial distribution of PM10 are special interest in air pollution of Seoul. In this study, spatial analysis of Particulate Materials were monitored by monthly averaged PM10 concentration of 2010, 2011. The monthly spatial patterns of PM10 showed the west area of Seoul(Youngdungpo) higher PM10 concentration than northern part of Seoul in early spring and winter seasons. In the comparison of PM10 concentration distribution patterns in 2010 and 2011, the PM10 concentration of 2011 at Gangnam and Songpa-gu were more increased than yearly averaged patterns of 2010. The distribution patterns of PM10 in Seoul city showed the high concentration PM10 of several areas with Youngdungpo-gu, Gangnam-gu and Cheongnyangni. Therefore we need to establish PM10 management strategy for these area.
Larval densities and spatial distribution patterns of beet armyWorm, Spodoptera exigua, were studied in the welsh onion field located in Asan from June to November, 1991. During the period, there were two denslty-peaks;mid August and mid~late September. The larvae showed clumped distribution patterns. but the patterns changed into random as larval density decreased in Oct.ober. Each larval instar showed clumped pattern expect 6th instar surveyed on September 25, which distributed in a random pattern. The larval distribution pattern were also influenced by the host plants;clumped pattern on such host. as red pepper and welsh onion, versus random pattern on such hosts as chrysanthemum, peanut and soybean.

This study investigates the spatial characteristics of the provision of and demand for the private tutoring service industries and the consumer groups. For the purpose, we analyze the spatial characteristics of various types of tutoring institutes in the Seoul Metropolitan area. In particular, we exam the spatial distribution patterns of attendants of tutoring institutes by institution type as well as the resident population by attendant age group. By applying spatial autocorrelation analysis, we examine the spatial clustering patterns of tutoring institutes and attendants by type. The results show distinct differences in the spatial distribution patterns by tutoring institute type as well as by attendant age group. We found significant socio-economic variables which influence on the spatial distribution of tutoring institutes. Finally, we propose private tutoring service provision models constructed with these variables through multiple regression analysis.

Metallic elements in dustfall have been known as notable air pollutants directly or indirectly influencing human health and wealth. The first aim of this study was to obtain precise spatial distribution patterns of 5 elements (Pb, Zn, K, Cr, and Al) in dustfall around Suwon area. To predict isometric lines of metal fluxes deposited on unsupervised random sites, the study has applied both spatial statistics as a receptor model and a GIS (geographic information system). Total of 31 sampling sites were selected in the study area (roughly 3 by 3 km grid basis) and dustfall samples were then collected monthly basis by the British deposit gauges from Dec., 1995 to Nov., 1996. The metallic elements in the dustfall were then analyzed by an atomic absorption spectrometer (AAS). On the other hand, a base map overlapped by 7 layers was constructed by using the AutoCAD R13 and ARC/INFO 3.4D. Four different spatial interpolation and expolation techniques such as IDW (inverse distance weighted averaging), TIN (triangulated irregular network), polynomial regression, and kriging technique were examined to compare spatial distribution patterns. Each pattern obtained by each technique was substantally different as varing pollutant types, land of use types, and topological conditions, etc. Thus, our study focused intensively on uncertainty analysis based on a concept of the jackknife and the sum of error distance. It was found that a kriging technique was the best applicalbe in this study area.
This paper presents a practical numerical method to determine both the spatial and temporal distribution of driving rain on buildings. It is based on an existing numerical simulation technique and uses the building geometry and climatic data at the building site as input. The method is applied to determine the 3D spatial and temporal distribution of wind-driven rain on the facade a low-rise building of complex geometry. Distinct wetting patterns are found. The important causes giving rise to these particular patterns are identified : (1) sweeping of raindrops towards vertical building edges, (2) sweeping of raindrops towards top edges, (3) shelter effect by various roof overhang configurations. The comparison of the numerical results with full-scale measurements in both space and time for a number of on site recorded rain events shows the numerical method to yield accurate results.
In order to examine spatio-temporal characteristics of coastal water quality, we applied GIS spatial analysis to the water quality data collected from observation points located on Korean coastal area during 1997$\sim$2004. The water quality parameters measured included: chlorophyll-a, pH, DO, COD, SS, dissolved inorganic nitrogen, dissolved inorganic phosphorous, salinity, temperature. The water quality data used in this paper was obtained only at selected sites even though they are potentially available at any location in a continuous surface. Thus, it is necessary to estimate the values at unsampled locations so as to analyze spatial distribution patterns of coastal water quality, Owing to this reason, we applied IDW(inverse distance weighted) interpolation method to water quality data and evaluated the usefulness of IDW method. After IDW interfolation method was applied, we divided the Korean coastal area into 46 sections and examined spatio-temporal patterns of each section using GIS visualization technique. As a result of evaluation, we can blow that IDW interpolation and GIS are useful for understanding spatial and temporal distribution characteristics of coastal water quality data which is collected from a wide area far many years.

For quantitative analysis of spatio-temporal distribution pattern on marine environment, spatial autocorrelation statistics on the both global and local aspects was applied to the observed data obtained from Gwangyang Bay in South Sea of Korea. Global indexes such as Moran's I and General G were used for understanding environmental distribution pattern in the whole study area. LISAs (local indicators of spatial association) such as Moran's I ($I_i$) and $G_i{^*}$ were considered to find similarity between a target feature and its neighborhood features and to detect hot spot and/or cold spot. Additionally, the significance test on clustered patterns by Z-scores was carried out. Statistical results showed variations of spatial patterns quantitatively in the whole year. Then all of general water quality, nutrients, chlorophyll-a and phytoplankton had strong clustered pattern in summer. When global indexes showed strong clustered pattern, the front region with a negative $I_i$ which means a strong spatial variation was observed. Also, when global indexes showed random pattern, hot spot and/or cold spot were/was found in the small local region with a local index $G_i{^*}$. Therefore, global indexes were useful for observing the strength and time series variations of clustered patterns in the whole study area, and local indexes were useful for tracing the location of hot spot and/or cold spot. Quantification of both spatial distribution pattern and clustering characteristics may play an important role to understand marine environment in depth and to find the reasons for spatial pattern.

This study aims to analyze the spatial distribution pattern of international trade. The method is to analyze the principal components by changing interaction attribute matrix of four dimensions (hinterland, gateway, foreland and commodities) into two dimension matrix. The study area is the territory region of Cheongju clearance depot in inland. The result are as follows : Major spatial patterns of regional connections by hinterland, gateway and foreland are, in the case of exports, ten patterns and in the case of imports come to nine. Composition of major export and import commodities in Cheongju clearance depot are similar, but precision instrument manufactured commodity and nonmetal mineral are remarkable in export and mineral manufactured commodity machinery and electronic manufactured commodity are remarkable in import. Gateway are similar to export and import, but Incheon international airport is used more in the case of import. And Cheongiu international airport is used for some commodities and is remarkable as a foreland of import for the areas outside of Chungcheongbuk-do.
Purpose - This study aims to not only investigate spatial pattern of immigrants' residence and crime occurrences in South Korea, but shed light on how geographic distribution of immigrants and immigrant segregation affect crime rates. Research design, data, and methodology - Th unit of analysis is Si-Gun-Gu municipal level entities of South Korea. The crime data was obtained by Korea National Police Agency and two major types(violence and property) of crime were measured. Most demographic, social, and economic variables were derived from Korean Census Data in 2015. In order to examine spatial patterns of immigrants' distribution and crime rates in South Korea, the present study utilized GIS mapping technique and Exploratory Spatial Data Analysis(ESDA) tools. The causal linkage was investigated by a series of regression models using STATA. Results - Spatial inequality between urban metropolitan vs rural areas was visualized by mapping. Assuming large Moran's I value, spatial autocorrelation appeared to be quite strong. Several neighborhood characteristics such as residential stability and economic prosperity were found to be important factors leading to crime rate change. Residential distribution and segregation for immigrants were negatively significant in the regression models. Conclusions - Unlike the traditional arguments of social disorganization theory, immigrant segregation appeared to reduce violent crime rate and the high proportion of immigrants also turned out to be a crime prevention factor.
On the basis of vegetation data in the 9.12 ha (380 m ${\times}$ 240 m) permanent sample plot of the spruce-fir valley forest in Liangshui National Reserve of Xiaoxing'an Mountains, the study was conducted to evaluate spatial distribution pattern and spatial association by using point pattern analysis for living and dead trees of Larix gmelini by DBH size class. The number of L. gmelini were counted as 59 living stems/ha (6.42 $m^2$/ha of basal area) and 34 dead stems/ha (2.86 $m^2$/ha of basal area). The distributional curve of diameter class exhibited bimodal shape. The analysis of spatial distribution patterns of all living larch stems noted the clumped distribution on the whole. The size of larch aggregates of dead stems was decreased as diameter class was increased. The distribution of dead stems became gradually randomized with decreased clumped size as the scale increased. Living stems and dead stems of the larch had positive spatial association at most of scales, illustrating that the occurrence of mortality of the larch tree was closely related to the distribution pattern of living larch trees.
