According to the available study and experimental data about the long term behavior of CFT(Concrete Filled Tube) columns, the creep and of concrete in CFT columns are smaller than those of RC columns because of the confinement effect of outer steel columns. In this study, the uncertainties associated with assumed values for concrete properties such as strength, creep coefficients, and service load have been considered and analyzed for the prediction of time-dependent column shortening of CFT column. The CFT column shortening analysis using Monte Carlo method is proposed and an of a 37 story tall building with CFT columns is studied for illustration. According to the results obtained by the probability analysis with multi parameters, the effect of variation coefficient for 3 parameters is investigated considering confidence interval.

DEMs(digital elevation models) are generally used to automatically map the channel network and to delineate subbasins. At present, most DEM data are derived from three alternative sources which are ground survey, pphotogrammetric data capture and digitized cartographic data sources. The accuracy of a DEM is dependent on the spatial resolution, quality of the source data, collection and processing procedures, and digitizing systems. weather conditions and nature environment.etc provide us satellite image of the highest quality. However, Match in error of the auto generation DEM was severely affected by physical and environmental conditions at shooting time. This paper shows that real-time operation analysis of applied hydrology after extracting DEM Using a pair of Kompsat images.

Location-Based Services(LBS) give rise to location-dependent queries of which results depend on the positions of moving objects. Because positions of moving objects change continuously, indexes of moving object must perform update operations frequently for keeping the changed position information. Existing spatial index (Grid File, R-Tree, KDB-tree etc.) proposed as index structure to search static data effectively. There are not suitable for index technique of moving object database that position data is changed continuously. In this paper, I propose a dynamic hashing index that insertion/delete costs are low. The dynamic hashing structure is that apply dynamic hashing techniques to combine a hash and a tree to a spatial index. The results of my extensive experiments show the dynamic hashing index outperforms the $R^$$R^*$-tree and the fixed grid.

It is usual to prioritize the spatial variables that influence housing location by a few specialist's experienced knowledge or intuition. Multiple regression techniques were used to evaluate the spatially prioritized relationships between housing density and seasonal solar intensity parameters for a total of 134 house locations. Solar radiation and duration of sunshine on winter solstice was the most important predictor of house density located in intermontane basin. In contrast to the typical theory, elevation, slope and accessibility to road were not a dominant determining factor upon the dependent variable of house density. A clear verification has been made for the hidden assumptions for the arrangement of typical Korean housing in intermontane basin that its approach is found to be more appropriate in avoiding shadow conditions, rather than exploring the ideal landform location.
Purpose: Korean medical services are not balanced across regions and social classes. To prevent mortality gaps, Korea must distribute its medical resources more efficiently. Patient factors affecting emergency room visits serve as basic data for determining best practices for public healthcare distribution. Methods: The data included 18 473 visits by 14 949 de-identified patients who visited a public emergency room over one year. The dependent variable was the number of emergency room visits. A Poisson regression was conducted with the independent variables, comprising sociodemographic, socioeconomic, and spatial accessibility factors and patient characteristics. Results: Older men with higher Korean Triage and Acuity Scale scores visited more frequently. Greater patient-hospital distance decreased visits; however, the presence of a hospital within 1 km of a patient's residence did not affect the number of visits. The use of 119 services was negatively correlated with the number of visits. Visits increased with more medical benefits. Conclusions: Patient age, distance to hospital, use of 119 services, and medical benefits should be considered when planning or managing public hospitals in Korea.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the spatial characteristics of inter-firm linkages and innovation networks of firms which are located in Gyeonggi border regions. Through this analysis, this study aims at understanding the spatial characteristics of economic activities of firms in Gyeonggi border regions. More importantly, this study focuses on revealing how the spatial characteristics of economic activities of firms affect future growth potentials of firms and regional economic growth. The main findings of this study are as follows. According to the analysis of spatial material linkages, the firms in both footloose location and industrial complex are all proven to be strongly dependent on the Capital Region. Owing to the weak level of the local material linkages, the effects on regional economic growth are limited. But firms in industrial complex contribute more to regional economic growth. The analysis of spatial employment linkages shows that the local linkages are comparatively strong. But the differentiation of residences weaken the positive effects on regional economy. As a concluding remark, the harmony with local linkages and non-local linkages is required to promote future growth potentials of firms and regional economic growth.
Speech articulators are coordinated for the purpose of segmental constriction in terms of a task. In particular, vertical jaw movements repeatedly contribute to consonantal as well as vocalic constriction. The current study explores vertical jaw movements in conjunction with bilabial constriction in bilabial stop /p/ in the context /a/-to-/a/. Revisiting kinematic data of /p/ collected using the electromagenetic midsagittal articulometer (EMMA) method from seven (four female and three male) speakers of Seoul Korean, we examined maximum vertical jaw position, its relative timing with respect to the upper and lower lips, and lip aperture minima. The results of those dependent variables are recapitulated in terms of linguistic (different word boundaries) and paralinguistic (different speech rates) factors as follows. Firstly, maximum jaw height was lower in the across-word boundary condition (across-word < within-word), but it did not differ as a function of different speech rates (comfortable = fast). Secondly, more reduction in the lip aperture (LA) gesture occurred in fast rate, while word-boundary effects were absent. Thirdly, jaw raising was still in progress after the lips' positional extrema were achieved in the within-word condition, while the former was completed before the latter in the across-word condition. Lastly, relative temporal lags between the jaw and the lips (UL and LL) were more synchronous in fast rate, compared to comfortable rate. When these results are considered together, it is possible to posit that speakers are not tolerant of lenition to the extent that it is potentially realized as a labial approximant in either word-boundary condition while jaw height still manifested lower jaw position in the across-word boundary condition. Early termination of vertical jaw maxima before vertical lower lip maxima across-word condition may be partly responsible for the spatial reduction of jaw raising movements. This may come about as a consequence of an excessive number of factors (e.g., upper lip height (UH), lower lip height (LH), jaw angle (JA)) for the representation of a vector with two degrees of freedom (x, y) engaged in a gesture-based task (e.g., lip aperture (LA)). In the task-dynamic application toolkit, the jaw angle parameter can be assigned numerical values for greater weight in the across-word boundary condition, which in turn gives rise to lower jaw position. Speech rate-dependent spatial reduction in lip aperture may be able to be resolved by means of manipulating activation time of an active tract variable in the gestural score level.

A conservative pressure-based finite-volume numerical method has been developed for computing flow and heat transfer by using an unstructured grid system. The method admits arbitrary convex polyhedra. Care is taken in the discretization and solution procedures to avoid formulations that are cell-shape-specific. A collocated variable arrangement formulation is developed, i.e. all dependent variables such as pressure and velocity are stored at cell centers. Gradients required for the evaluation of diffusion fluxes and for second-order-accurate convective operators are found by a novel second-order accurate spatial discretization. Momentum interpolation is used to prevent pressure checkerboarding and the SIMPLE algorithm is used for pressure-velocity coupling. The resulting set of coupled nonlinear algebraic equations is solved by employing a segregated approach, leading to a decoupled set of linear algebraic equations fer each dependent variable, with a sparse diagonally dominant coefficient matrix. These equations are solved by an iterative preconditioned conjugate gradient solver which retains the sparsity of the coefficient matrix, thus achieving a very efficient use of computer resources.

The optical properties of InP/GaP short-period superlattice (SPS) structures grown at various temperatures from $400^{\circ}C$ to $490^{\circ}C$ have been investigated by using temperature-dependent photoluminescence (PL) and emission wavelength-dependent time-resolved PL measurements. The PL peak energy for SPS samples decreases as the growth temperature increases. The decreased PL energy of ~10 meV for the sample grown at $425^{\circ}C$ compared to that for $400^{\circ}C$-grown sample is due to the CuPt-B type ordering, while the SPS samples grown at $460^{\circ}C$ and $490^{\circ}C$ exhibit the significant reduction of the PL peak energies due to the combined effects of the formation of lateral composition modulation (LCM) and CuPt-B type ordering. The SPS samples with LCM structure show the enhanced carrier lifetime due to the spatial separation of carriers. This study represents that the bandgap energy of InP/GaP SPS structures can be controlled by varying growth temperature, leading to LCM formation and CuPt-B type ordering.
Population growth and rapid urbanization has been converting large amounts of rural vegetation into urbanized areas. This human induced change has increased temperature in urban areas in comparison to adjacent rural regions. Various studies regarding to urban heat island have been conducted in different disciplines in order to analyze the environmental issue. Especially, different types of thermal infrared remote sensing data are applied to urban heat island research. This article reviews research focusing on thermal infrared remote sensing for urban heat island and urban planning studies. Seven studies of analyses for the relationships between urban heat island and other dependent indicators in urban planning discipline are reviewed. Despite of different types of thermal infrared remote sensing data, units of analysis, land use and land cover, and other dependent variable, each study results in meaningful outputs which can be implemented in urban planning strategies. As the application of thermal infrared remote sensing data is critical to measure urban heat island, it is important to understand its advantages and disadvantages for better analyses of urban heat island based on this review. Despite of its limitations - spatial resolution, overpass time, and revisiting cycle, it is meaningful to conduct future research on urban heat island with thermal infrared remote sensing data as well as its application to urban planning disciplines. Based on the results from this review, future research with remotely sensed data of urban heat island and urban planning could be modified and better results and mitigation strategies could be developed.
