  • This paper presents a statistical motion activity description method and video retrievals by using the intensity and directions of the extracted motion vectors from video sequence. Since the proposed method can represent temporal and spatial cognitive characteristics of an entire video, several images between key frames, and images in a certain interval, it can be effectively applied to digital video services such as video retrieval, surveilance, multimedia database, and broadcasting filterings. In the paper, the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is shown with a lot of shots of MPEG-7 video dataset.

  • Radio environment maps (REMs) and geolocation database represent an important source of information for the operation of cognitive radio networks, replacing or complementing spectrum sensing information. This paper provides a survey of methods for constructing the radio frequency layer of radio environment map (RF-REM) using distributed measurements of the signal levels at a given frequency in space and time. The signal level measurements can be obtained from fixed or mobile devices capable of sensing radio environment and sending this information to the REM. The signal measurements are complemented with information already stored in different REM content layers. The combined information is applied for estimation of the RF-REM layer. The RF-REM construction methods are compared, and their advantages and disadvantages with respect to the spatial distribution of signal measurements and computational complexity is given. This survey also indicates possible directions of further research in indirect RF-REM construction methods. It emphasizes that accurate RF-REM construction methods should in the best case support operation with random and clustered signal measurements, their operation should not be affected by measurements outliers, and it must estimate signal levels comparably on all RF-REM locations with moderate computational effort.

  • Due to the lack of visualization services and organic combinations between public and private buildings data, the usability of the basic map has remained low. To address this issue, this paper reports on a solution that organically combines public and private data while providing visualization services to general users. For this purpose, factors that can affect building prices first were examined in order to define the related data attributes. To extract the relevant data attributes, this paper presents a method of acquiring public information data and real estate-related information, as provided by private real estate portal sites. The paper also proposes a pretreatment process required for intelligent machine learning. This report goes on to suggest an intelligent machine learning algorithm that predicts buildings' value pricing and future value by using big data regarding buildings' spatial information, as acquired from a database containing building value attributes. The algorithm's availability was tested by establishing a prototype targeting pilot areas, including Suwon, Anyang, and Gunpo in South Korea. Finally, a prototype visualization solution was developed in order to allow general users to effectively use buildings' value ranking and value pricing, as predicted by intelligent machine learning.

  • In this paper, we implemented a loom component to be placed in a window and a looms management system which is able to connect database and to process various queries. The implemented system has aggregate query processing functions for the loom components existing in the selected area by the mouse and it also has high level query processing functions represented with chart and pivot table; it can be used as a decision support system. The proposed system can detect temporal or persistent problems of the Inn. Therefore, it can be used to raise the productivity and to reduce the cost in textile companies by coping with the situation properly.

  • The conventional method for solving transportation problems were mainly based on numerical methods, where the understanding of outputs is not easy. Some difficulties come from the seperation of three key steps-the preparation of input for transportation traffic simulation, and model output interpretation. GSIS can help to eliminate some of thoses difficulties by combining graphics, database, and transportation plaining models. As pilot study, this study shows an application of Geovision GSIS to TRANPLAN transportation planning model that is based on four-step travel demand forecasting procedure. Accrued benefits and procedure are presented.

  • The oyster mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus) is one of the most important edible mushrooms worldwide. The mechanism of P. ostreatus fruiting body development has been of interest both for the basic understanding of the phenotypic change of the mycelium-fruiting body and to improve breeding of the mushrooms. Based on our previous publication of P. ostreatus expressed sequence tag database, 1,528 unigene clones were used in macroarray analysis of mycelium, fruiting body and basidiospore developmental stages of P. ostreatus. Gene expression profile databases generated by evaluating expression levels showed that 33, 10, and 94 genes were abundantly expressed in mycelium, fruiting body and basidiospore developmental stages, respectively. Among them, the genes specifically expressed in the fruiting body stage were further analyzed by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction and Northern blot to investigate temporal and spatial expression patterns. These results provide useful information for future studies of edible mushroom development.

  • Map matching technique is an essential part of the car navigation and other related positioning fields such as dead reckoning and GPS data logging upon the GIS database. This paper is to break down map matching techniques, to categorize them, and to propose a simple technique for GPS based map matching technique. For categorization of techniques, two approaches have been adopted. One is to only use geometric information, and the other is to use both geometric and topological information. Some pros and cons of each method have been described. In addition, a simple map matching technique, set forth in this paper, has been introduced for properly utilizing the advantage of GPS points after the absence of the chronic problem of selective availability, which had been prevailed recently. Some research opportunities and problems of the technique have also been discussed.

  • It is essential to build a high quality database in developing a UIS to enhance the administrative effectiveness of municipal governments. To secure such a high quality DB, a proper methodology of quality control should be established. It is imperative to have such a method fit UIS DB considering that the conventional method has mainly been focusing on the quality control of the digital layers itself. Therefore, this study have analyzed the city of Inchon's UIS DB to devise a proper method to categorize the types of errors and to identify major relevant items. Also, the magnitude and frequency of each error along with its major cause have been analyzed to propose a quality control procedure to minimize the errors

  • The Quality and Accuracy of digital image is important factor for decision of accuracy in digital photogrammetry because all the inside works in digital photogrammetry are based on digital image. But it is still difficult to ensure quality assurance and appication of data because there is no distinct criterion about quality and accuracy of digital image when the works in digital photogrammetry is accomplished. This study presents optimal resolution of aerial photo through error analysis of image coordinate using auto inner orientation in digital photograrnrnetry workstation. In second step, we are valified to optimum resolution of aerial photo image with orientation analysis. Finally, we are established to validity optimal resolution of aerial photo image with production of ortho image and mosaic image using optimal resolution aerial photo image.

  • Road traffic-related environment problems has become now serious problem common in the urban life throughout the world. In this study, a GIS-supported evaluation system has been developed for dealing with the road traffic-related environment problems, especially focusing on air Pollution in the urban areas. The developed system consists lof three essential parts: GIS; traffic-related air pollution simulation model; and the database for potential strategies. In establishing the simulation model, a GIS-supported environment can provide a useful tool for handling a wide range of data characterizing study areas and for preparing more accurate estimation on real locations. Such roles of the GIS-supported system can be helpful to more efficient analysis and more reasonable decision-makings. As a preliminary stage in developing the system, the metropolitan area of Cairo in Egypt was applying into being as a Pilot study to test the Potentiality of the prototype system.
