  • Composite materials also known as fiber reinforced plastics have been developed and used in many engineering applications due to their outstanding mechanical properties. Laminated plates as structural components that are made of in composite material are widely used. Therefore, nonlinear response of laminated composite plates modeled with finite elements and excited by stochastic loading is studied. The classical laminated plate theory is used to account for the variation of strains through the thickness for modeling laminated thin plates. Approximate nonlinear random vibration analysis is performed using the method of equivalent linearization to account for material non-linearity.

  • Axial magnetic field restrains arc diffusion that appear at cutting off fault current in vacuum interrupter(VI). In this study, spatial and temporal behavior simulation of arc is carried out for various axial magnetic field. Also the results of this simulation show that axial magnetic field controls and helps to extinguish arcs. This study can be applied to design and analysis of VI. Dymo theory that is not considered in this study will be considered latter.

  • Almost the steel bridges are manufactured and constructed by using weld process. The welding is necessary for connecting the flange, web and stiffener of steel bridges. However, residual stress and welding deformation producted by welding is a causes of decreasing the load carrying capacity of steel bridges. therefore, it is need to consider the initial stresses by welding when design the steel bridge. However, the influence of initial stress producted by welding on load carrying capacity of steel bridges is not elucidated. In this paper, the initial stress state on the flange, web and stiffener of steel bridges are clarified by carrying out 3-dimensional non-steady heat conduction analysis and 3-dimensional thermal elastic-plastic analysis. The influence of initial stress by welding on load carrying capacity of steel bridges is clarified by carrying out 3-dimensional elastic-plastic finite element analysis using finite deformation theory.

  • Recently, as steel structures become higher and more long-spanned, application of high-strength steels is increasing gradually. However, criteria and example for design of high-strength steel are not built up. exiting criteria for structural steels is not proper for economical design of high-strength steel. Moreover, exiting criteria will be decrease the fatigue performance of steel bridge using high-strength steel. Therefore, criterion for application of high-strength steel must be established. In this paper, the behavior of plate girder using high-strength vertical stiffeners was clarified by carrying out layer elastic-plastic finite element analysis using finite deformation theory. In order to optimize the design and construction of plate girder using high-strength vertical stiffener, criterion for application of high-strength vertical stiffener is proposed.

  • A frame element embedded normal to a shear wall or slab (shell element) is common in the structural systems. In that case there is a need for a membrane or shell element to have a normal rotation degree of freedom at each node in order to have a good result of stresses. Even if Many other people studied this area, All man, Cook and Sabir are representative investigators in this area. In this research paper, Sabir's methods of vertex rotation stiffness matrix in a membrane element are studied. New stiffness of vertex rotation are proposed by taking advantage of beam stiffness theory. Rectangular elements stiffness with rotational degree of freedom are compared in accuracy ratio each other.

  • A study on the vibration and buckling analyses of laminated composite plates is described in this paper. In order to carry out the analyses of laminated composite plates, a NURBS-based isogeometric general plate element based on Reissner-Mindlin (RM) theory is developed. The non-uniform rational B-spline (NURBS) is used to represent the geometry of plate and the unknown displacement field and therefore, all terms required in this element formulation are consistently derived by using NURBS basis function. Numerical examples are conducted to investigate the accuracy and reliability of the present plate element. From numerical results, the present plate element can produce the isogeometric solutions with sufficient accuracy. Finally, the present isogeometric solutions are provided as future reference solutions.

  • Massive antenna array is an attractive candidate technique for future broadband wireless communications to acquire high spectrum and energy efficiency. However, such benefits can be realized only when proper channel information is available at the transmitter. Since the amount of the channel information required by the transmitter is large for massive antennas, the feedback is burdensome in practice, especially for frequency division duplex (FDD) systems, and needs normally to be reduced. In this paper a novel channel feedback reduction scheme based on the theory of distributed compressive sensing (DCS) is proposed to apply to massive antenna arrays with spatial correlation, which brings substantially reduced feedback load. Simulation results prove that the novel scheme is better than the channel feedback technique based on traditional compressive sensing (CS) in the aspects of mean square error (MSE), cumulative distributed function (CDF) performance and feedback resources saving.

Abstract Understanding collision is important in spatial reasoning problems that study the motions of objects. This paper introduces qualitative collision theory and reasoning techniques. Force and motion transfers are computed by analyzing the interactions of the spatial properties and motions of the objects. This paper also presents inference techniques for handling discontinuous changes and angular changes by rotation. These theories and inference techniques are implemented and applied to real car-to-car collision accidents. The test results verify the reliabilities of our techniques.

  • Due to the development of medical imaging technology, different imaging technologies provide a large amount of effective information. However, different imaging method caused the limitations of information integrity by using single type of image. Combining different image together so that doctor can obtain the information from medical image comprehensively. Image registration algorithm based on mutual information has become one of the hotspots in the field of image registration with its high registration accuracy and wide applicability. Because the information theory-based registration technology is not dependent on the gray value difference of the image, and it is very suitable for multimodal medical image registration. However, the method based on mutual information has a robustness problem. The essential reason is that the mutual information itself is not have enough information between the pixel pairs, so that the mutual information is unstable during the registration process. A large number of local extreme values are generated, which finally cause mismatch. In order to overcome the shortages of mutual information registration method, this paper proposes a registration method combined with image spatial structure information and mutual information.

  • Against the background of the rapid development of the Shanghai Metro network, this paper attempts to establish an analytical approach to evaluate the impact of multiple transport network accessibilities on commercial space use in metro station areas. Ten well-developed metro station areas in central Shanghai are selected as samples. Commercial space floor area and visitors in these areas are collected. Using ArcGIS and Spatial Design Network Analysis, the Shanghai Metro network and road network are modeled to compute diversified transport accessibilities. Evidence from land use and commercial space floor area within a 0-to-500-meter buffer zone of stations is consistent with location and land-use theory: commercial land use is concentrated closer to stations. Correlation analysis suggests that hourly visitors to the shopping mall are mainly influenced by metro network accessibility, while retail stores and restaurants are affected by both metro and pedestrian accessibility.
