3차원 네트워크 기반 위상학적 데이터 모델을 이용한 3차원 인접성 공간질의 (3D Adjacency Spatial Query using 3D Topological Network Data Model)

  • 근린 공간(Spatial Neighborhoods)이란 특정 공간과 상호 관계성을 가지는 주위의 공간들이다. 공간 관계성이 있는 근린 지역을 찾는 3차원 공간질의는 공간을 분석함에 있어서 기본적인 기능이다. 이와 관련하여 다양한 공간 관계성을 갖는 근린 공간을 찾는 연구 방법들이 제안되어 왔으며, 본 연구에서는 인접성에 기반을 둔 근린 지역을 찾는 연구 방법을 제안한다. 제안된 방법은 인접성을 표현하는 위상학적 데이터를 다양한 위상학적 데이터 모델 중 네트워크 기반 위상학적 데이터 모델을 적용하여 구축하고, 이에 Dijkstra 알고리즘을 기반으로 한 3차원 인접성 공간질의 알고리즘을 적용하여 하여 인접성 기반의 근린 공간을 찾는 방법이다. 이를 토대로 특정 공간으로부터 인접성에 관한 순차 분석 (Order Analysis) 결과를 가시화 하고 활용 방안을 모색하였다. 본 연구는 3차원 공간에서 인접성에 관한 특정 공간객체를 찾기 위한 3차원 인접성 공간질의(3D Spatial Query) 연산자를 구현하는데 목적이 있으며, 연구의 목표는 효율적인 3차원 인접성 공간질의를 위해 1) 네트워크 기반 위상학적 데이터 모델을 이용하여 인접성을 표현한 3차원 네트워크 데이터를 구축하고, 이에 2) 3차원 인접성 공간질의 알고리즘을 적용하여 인접성 기반 근린 공간을 찾는 3차원 공간질의 연산자를 구현하는 것이다.

Digital Divide in Riyadh Neighborhoods: A Spatial Analysis

  • The objective of this paper is to use Geographical Information Systems for identifying Digital Divide in Riyadh Neighborhoods, Saudi Arabia. Geo-database was created that includes Streets, Neighborhoods, ICT Access Data and Coverage Map for Riyadh. We used QGIS and overlay for analysis, intersection selected as tool for this paper. The results indicate that after analyzing the use of information communication technology in all regions of the Kingdom it turns that Riyadh, Ash Sharqiyyah and Makkah in average with percentage 50%, While Al Jawf, Al Madinah, and Najran are the least with percentage 42%. Then we focused on Riyadh to analyze the digital divide because it is the capital of Saudi Arabia and occupations the highest percent of communications towers in the KSA due to population density. Regarding coverage of the 4G, the neighborhoods at the center have recorded very high coverage score. While neighborhoods at the edges of the city have low values of coverage score. Same for 3G, it is more intense in the center and the coverage percentage is higher than 4G. For 2G we found it had the highest coverage compared to 3G or 4G

Determining Spatial Neighborhoods in Indoor Space using Integrated IndoorGML and IndoorPOI data

  • Indoor space has been one of the focal points for geospatial research as various factors such as increasing demands for application and demand for adaptive response in emergencies have arisen. IndoorGML (Indoor Geography Markup Language) has provided a standardized method of representing the topological aspect of micro-scale environments, with its extensive specifications and flexible applicability. However, as more real-world problems and needs demand attention, suggestions to improve this standard, such as representing IndoorPOI (Indoor Points of Interest), have arisen. Hence, existing algorithms and functionalities that we use on perceiving these indoor spaces must also adapt to accommodate said improvements. In this study, we explore how to define spatial neighborhoods in indoor spaces represented by an integrated IndoorGML and IndoorPOI data. We revisit existing approaches to combine the aforementioned datasets and refine previous approaches to perform neighborhood spatial queries in 3D. We implement the proposed algorithm in three use cases using sample datasets representing a real-world structure to demonstrate its effectiveness for performing indoor spatial analysis.

Evaluation of the Population Distribution Using GIS-Based Geostatistical Analysis in Mosul City

  • The purpose of this work was to apply geographical information system (GIS) for geostatistical analyzing by selecting a semi-variogram model to quantify the spatial correlation of the population distribution with residential neighborhoods in the both sides of Mosul city. Two hundred and sixty-eight sample sites in 240 ㎢ are adopted. After determining the population distribution with respect to neighborhoods, data were inserted to ArcGIS10.3 software. Afterward, the datasets was subjected to the semi-variogram model using ordinary kriging interpolation. The results obtained from interpolation method showed that among the various models, Spherical model gives best fit of the data by cross-validation. The kriging prediction map obtained by this study, shows a particular spatial dependence of the population distribution with the neighborhoods. The results obtained from interpolation method also indicates an unbalanced population distribution, as there is no balance between the size of the population neighborhoods and their share of the size of the population, where the results showed that the right side is more densely populated because of the small area of residential homes which occupied by more than one family, as well as the right side is concentrated in economic and social activities.

이탈리아 피렌체의 서민주거지역의 형성과 주거형식의 변화에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Formation of Working-Class Residential Areas md the Transformation of Housing Types of Firenze, Italy)

  • This study provides a descriptive and analytical account of major aspects of urban development and transformation of housing types of Italian Firenze from the 13th century to the 19th century. It is a typo-morphological depiction of urban spatial structure of the extraordinary city, Firenze, the center of Italian Renaissance. And this study has proceeded on the assumption that the evolving form of the urban structure and housing types cannot be understood without reference to the larger context of political, economic, and social life. Based on these backgrounds, the purpose of this study is threefold: to provide a comprehensive discussion of general characteristics of urban spatial structure of Firenze, and to explain the process of formation of working-class neighborhoods by constructing new city wall in later 13th century, and to discuss transformation of housing types of the working-class neighborhood with understanding the mechanism of existence of housing in the newly formed residential neighborhoods. The development of residential neighborhoods was pursued by 'planned' manner through forming square-shaped blocks, and characterized by the subdivision of larger properties into standardized building lots for the construction of houses. On the bases of documentary evidences, several ecclesiastical institutions are identified as the agents of a distinctive type of development. While the institutions did the major role for developing lands, the construction of houses was done by small scale construction agents with moderate amount of properties. The major housing type of working-class neighborhoods of Firenze has been the 'casa a schiera' characterized by the form of narrow front and long depth. The type was generalized by the newly formed middle and working-class of Firenze which grew their body very rapidly, Even though the type assumed very uniform in its fen there were many variations. And through passing time, the casa a schiera developed to be multi-family housing, and the level of variation became deepen. Eventually, transformation of housing type of Firenze was ended by appearance of the 'casa in linea', which was very similar to modern apartment in its spatial organization.

경산지역 도시주거지 오픈스페이스의 이용특성과 공간적, 사회심리적 기능 (The Usage Characteristics and the Spatial and Social Psychology Role of Open Spaces in Urban Neighborhoods of Gyeongsan)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the usage characteristics and the role of spatial and social psychology of open spaces in urban neighborhoods. The survey for this study was conducted on 318 residents in Gyungsan. For analysis, the frequencies and means were calculated, the chi-square test, t-test, and analysis of variance were performed. Survey results revealed that, first, not only the preferred open space type but also the usage characteristics by gender were different. The tendency for males was to visit open spaces to exercise and to stay for longer than one hour. However, the females visited open spaces to care for their children and meet friends or neighbors. They also visited more often than males but stayed for a shorter time. Second, females tended to consider the open space as a place for rest and leisure. Females valued the social psychology aspects of the open space function. Third, regarding the spacial role of open space in urban neighborhoods, study participants believed that the waterside parks improve the quality of life, but were concerned for the safety of children. Considering the social psychology role of open spaces, study participants regarded the waterside parks as improving emotional health. Particularly, they believed the waterside parks played a greater role in daily life as a place for meeting, resting, and leisure than other open space types such as playground, children's parks, and sport parks.

서울의 빗장주거단지가 근린의 사회적 지속가능성에 미치는 영향 평가 (Assessment of the impact of gated communities on social sustainability of neighborhoods in Seoul)

  • 대부분의 국내 아파트단지는 서비스 공급의 자족성, 자치, 폐쇄성이 특징인 빗장주거단지(gated community)라고 할 수 있다. 오늘날 동네에 끼치는 영향은 고려하지 않은 채 기존의 아파트단지 담장에 더해 단지 내부로 외부 보행자 출입을 막는 차단문이 설치되면서, 아파트단지의 폐쇄성은 더욱 강화되고 있다. 이러한 빗장주거단지의 폐쇄성 강화가 근린의 사회적 지속가능성에 끼치는 영향을 평가하기 위해 근린 내 주거유형을 주거지 폐쇄의 정도에 따라 저층주거지, 일반 아파트단지, 차단문이 설치된 아파트단지로 나누고 설문을 통해 각각의 사회적 지속가능성을 평가하였다. 분석 결과 차단문의 설치는 사회적 지속가능성 중 삶의 질 관련 지표를 높이는 효과는 있으나, 일반 아파트단지보다 포용성 지표를 대폭 낮춤으로써 근린의 사회적 응집력을 낮추는 것으로 나타났다. 폐쇄성이 강화된 새로운 아파트단지는 기존 아파트단지와 저층주거지 간에 유지되어 온 공존 질서를 뒤흔들고, 근린 내 공간적·사회적 분리를 강화하고 있다.

Efficient Processing of Spatial Preference Queries in Spatial Network Databases

  • Given a positive integer k as input, a spatial preference query finds the k best data objects based on the scores (e.g., qualities) of feature objects in their spatial neighborhoods. Several solutions have been proposed for spatial preference queries in Euclidean space. A few algorithms study spatial preference queries in undirected spatial networks where each edge is undirected and the distance between two points is the length of the shortest path connecting them. However, spatial preference queries have not been thoroughly investigated in directed spatial networks where each edge has a particular orientation that makes the distance between two points noncommutative. Therefore, in this study, we present a new method called ALPS+ for processing spatial preference queries in directed spatial networks. We conduct extensive experiments with different setups to demonstrate the superiority of ALPS+ over conventional solutions.

The Impact of LEED-Energy Star Certified Office Buildings on the Market Values of Neighboring Areas in New York City

  • Green building certifications are being adopted widely, and existing research continues to show an array of benefits to stakeholders of green certified buildings. However, little attention has been paid thus far to the effects these buildings may have on their surrounding neighborhoods economically. This research examined the effect of LEED and/or Energy Star certification on the neighborhoods surrounding certified office buildings from an economic standpoint with spatial and statistical analyses. This research showed the unit market value of LEED and/or Energy Star certified office buildings and the parameters of LEED and/or Energy Star certification had statistically a positive impact on the median unit market value of their neighborhood areas. The findings can provide useful insights into the possibilities for additional economic benefits of their neighborhoods, encouraging a win-win approach that enhances the local real estate market.

도시녹지 미세먼지 조절 서비스 수요와 공급의 공간적 차이 분석 - 수원시를 대상으로 - (Spatial Analysis on Mismatch Between Particulate Matter Regulation Services Supply and Demand in Urban Area - A Case Study of Suwon -)

  • Urban green spaces supply ecosystem services (ESs), which are consumed by city residents and generate demand, to improve air quality. It is important to determine supply and demand for ESs and reduce the gap for efficient management. This study proposed a method to use the concept of supply and demand for ESs in the decision-making process for urban planning or management. PM10 concentrations were converted to weight for demand assessment on PM10 reduction, and PM10 absorption capacity of all green spaces including the forests, and that of urban green spaces excluding forests, was calculated for each supply assessment. The differences in the calculated supply and demand were analyzed to derive the mismatched regions in Suwon. As a result, regions with big forested areas showed sufficient supply, indicating that the degree of mismatch among administrative neighborhoods (dong) varied greatly depending on whether they had a forest. An analysis of only urban green spaces showed that all neighborhoods lacked supply. Forests with high PM10 absorption capacity had a great effect, but urban green spaces can be considered a key element in reducing PM10 in daily life. Considering the mismatch of supply and demand, spatial distribution, and population distribution, it is possible to prioritize the supply of urban green spaces to reduce PM10 and, furthermore, support decision making for priority zones subject to forest conservation and designation and cancellation of green spaces, which gives significance to this study.
