  • The process and efficiency of monitoring building and construction violations is a concern of the construction industry. The detection of violations requires appropriate and sufficiently accurate spatial information to manage and support a comprehensive inspection process and monitor compliance. A building inspection workflow must extract appropriate spatial and measurement in-formation from a variety of sources, identify potential violations across a range of compliance criteria and determine the quality of resulting inspection reports. This paper presents a framework for supporting building inspections using spatial information and methods to detect construction violations and compliance. Current inspection processes involve issues around the identification of building violations, access to building regulations and existing spatial information, integration of a range of spatial and non-spatial information, and the quality of decisions within the inspection workflows. A survey of building inspectors was conducted and used together with the issues identified to establish the requirements for a spatial inspection framework. The results demonstrate how such a framework can support improved decision-making and reduced fieldwork effort in detecting and measuring the accuracy of building violations involving building placements, street offsets and footprint areas.

Development of GIS-based Regional Crime Prevention Index to Support Crime Prevention Activities in Urban Environments

  • In this study, we proposed GIS-based Regional Crime Prevention Index (RCPI) development method designed to support local governments with systematic crime prevention activities. The public interest in safe urban environment is increasing rapidly. The government is putting efforts into crime prevention activities to eliminate the criminal opportunities in advance. CPTED is method to prevent crimes in the city by improving environmental factors that cause crime. It is used by local governments to promote the crime prevention activities centering on the expansion of CCTVs and street lamps and the improvement of street environment. However, most policies were terminated as one-off programs and it is necessary to monitor the effect of such policies on a continuous basis. In order to alleviate issues, this study proposed RCPI as part of crime safety assessment in urban environments. The estimation of RCPI in City A of Gyeonggi-do showed relative differences in 31 districts (dong), indicating that it is also possible to evaluate the crime safety in the local community on the level of the administrative dong, the smallest administrative district in the urban environments. As a crime map, the RCPI will be used effectively as he reference to support the decision making process for local government in the future.

A Study on the Spatial Analysis Model to Decide Medical Institutions/Mental Health Centers for Disaster Victims

  • The National Emergency Management Agency of South Korea has established a Disaster Victims Psychology Support Center. The Disaster Victims Psychology Support Center can enable victims who got psychological damage from disasters to return to their daily lives through healing activity, field visits and advice of experts. The previous Psychology Support Center System managed the information of disaster victims through an independent database. However, this paper proposes a system that is developed to identify medical institutions and mental health centers within a distance of radius, based on the potential Hot-Spot areas of disaster victims using the GIS Systems. The proposed system can efficiently support selection of appropriate institutions for disaster victims using their location and age, classification of damage, and damaged parts of the body. Also, this spatial analysis can assist to decide on a policy based on the location of disaster victims and the extent of damage. Therefore, this paper can provide the required information to support decision making based on the concentrated areas for disaster victims.

공간 연관규칙을 이용한 대형할인점의 입지 분석 (Analyzing the Location Decision of the Large-Scale Discount Store Using the Spatial Association Rules Mining)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 1990년대부터 급속히 증가한 대형할인점에 대하여 입지영향인자를 추출하여 의사결정에 객관성을 확보하고 대량의 데이터베이스를 이용하여 숨겨진 유용한 정보를 입지 선정에 활용하는 것이다. 이를 위해 대형할인점이 입점하는데 미치는 인구학적 변수, 경제학적 변수 그리고 주변환경적 변수에 대한 다양한 인자를 통계자료를 수집하고 연구대상 지역의 공간 자료를 구축하여 공간 연관성 분석을 실시하여 공간 연관규칙을 추출하였다. 결과의 검증을 위해 추출된 규칙과 대형할인점의 매출액을 이용한 적용성 여부를 상호 비교하였다. 검증 결과 추출된 공간 연관규칙이 해당 대형할인점에 많이 부합할수록 매출액도 많은 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구를 통해 공간 연관규칙을 활용하여 객관적이고 매출에 이익을 주는 대형할인점의 최적입지 선정을 기대할 수 있다.

  • 범세계 위치정보의 원천을 미국에 의존하고 있는 실정에서 정부는 다원화된 위성측위체계 시대에 직간접적으로 막대한 영향을 미치게 될 Galileo, 준천정위성 등의 다양한 프로젝트에 대응하여 국가 GIS 추진에 따른 어떤 연구 전략을 수립하여 장단기적으로 추진해 나가야 할 것인가를 결정해야 한다. 위치정보의 원천이 다양해짐에 따라 이를 효율적으로 이용하기 위해서는 정부적인 차원에서 체계적인 연구지원이 필요하며 특히, 국가GIS추진위원회를 중심으로 한 연구관련 분과위원회의 대응전략 마련은 매우 중요하다. 그러므로 공간정보전문가그룹과 연구개발지원위원회의 신설, 필수요소기술 분야의 선정을 통해 대응해 나간다면 다원화된 위성측위체계 환경에 효율적으로 대처할 수 있다.

강원도 평창지역의 보호지역 확대를 위한 공간의사결정 지원방안 (Efficient Establishment of Protected Areas in Pyoungchang County, Kangwon Province to Support Spatial Decision Making)

  • As the second-largest 1st degree of ecological zone in Kangwon Province, Pyeongchang County is expected to play an important role in expanding the protected areas of the Republic of Korea. However, Pyoungchang County is expected to experience an increase in demand for development due to the 2018 Winter Olympics. Problems related to various stakeholders and limited budget will arise regarding the issue of expanding the protected areas. In this study, in order to effectively control these problems, we designed expansion plans for the 1st degree ecological zoning map areas and the observed data of threatened species I and II in Pyoungchang County by using the MARXAN Software. As for the methods, we first set the planning units(PUs) for the spatial analysis. The PUs include boundary length, land cost, land status, etc. Then, we made the input data by controlling the conservation features, BLM(Boundary Length Modifier) and iteration numbers. There are two measures for the establishment of the protected areas, one of which only concerns with the ecological priority, and the other with combining the land cost on forest. The one illustrated shows that the larger patches that include the conservation feature was selected as a candidate of the protected areas. The other one presented shows that inexpensive land cost areas were selected. As this study produces visual results and enables an efficient application of various values in selecting protected areas, we believe that it will be useful to various stakeholders in spatial decision-making process.

공간정보기술을 활용한 상품구매 지원 시스템 (Application of Spatial Information Technology to Shopping Support System)

  • 공간정보기술과 스마트폰의 발전으로 인하여 위치를 기반으로 하는 인간생활이 획기적으로 향상되고 있다. 공간정보 및 지리정보는 여러 분야에서 활용되고 있으며, 특히 정보통신기술(IT)과 접목하여 다양한 콘텐츠와 실생활에 편리한 서비스를 제공하고 있다. 최근 공간정보기술은 단순히 위치와 속성데이터를 획득하고 제공하는 수준에서 벗어나 사용자가 의사결정에 필요한 정보와 지식을 체계적으로 생성하고 이를 서비스할 수 있는 기능을 포함하고 있다. 특히 생활 지리정보의 요구분야가 확대되면서, 실내공간의 다양한 응용분야가 창출되고 있다. 본 논문은 실내공간에서 행하지는 상품 구매활동에 요구되는 의사결정을 지원하기 위하여 공간정보기술을 활용하는 것이 목적이다. 연구의 주요 내용은 상품의 유용한 정보를 포함하는 상품 데이터베이스 구축, 상품 구매의 최적 이동경로 결정 및 구매시간 예측, 구매상품 자동기록 및 분석이다. 특히 식품에 대한 영양성분을 분석할 수 있는 기능을 제공함으로써 식생활 개선과 웰빙을 추구할 수 있으며, 소비성향을 분석하여 과소비 및 충동구매를 방지하여 경제적이고 효율적인 소비생활에 도움이 될 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

객체지향 패러다임에 기반한 사용자 관점지원 공간질의 모델 (A Spatial Query Model Supporting Users View based on Object-oriented Paradigm)

  • Spatial analysis in GIS provides an important way that helps the end-users decision-making. For such a reason, query model for analysis should be able to support the users view conceptually in constructing query statements. The traditional approaches in design of query model used to extend the functionality of model that basically designed for manipulation of attribute-operations by appending operators for spatial operations to the query statements of model. However, by the reason of spatial operation's characteristics that are different from those of attribute operations In nature, the structures of query statements in previous approaches are unnatural, inconsistent, and therefore those query models in previous approaches are not able to support the users view in retrieving analysis. In this paper, we proposed the methodology for constructing of user query and internal processing this query based on object-oriented paradigm, in the view of spatial operations by using the basic concept that spatial query is a methodology for spatial analysis. In addition, we presented a strong possibility of designing spatial query model that might actively have interaction with its user by implementing CIW(Class-Information Window) query interface corresponded with the methodology proposed in this paper.

  • GRAM++ is a collection of software packages for geographic information system (GIS) applications, developed indigenously at the Centre of Studies in Resources Engineering (CSRE), Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay. This software is now being used for a number of GIS applications that assist decision makers in taking informed decisions. Some of these applications include simulation of the spatial impact of raising height of dam and assessment of the costs and benefits; identifying sites suitable for inland aquaculture and validation with existing sites; developing resource profiles and computation of human development indices for prioritized development; land suitability analysis for agriculture applications.
