In the estimation of pollution load in water basin, a data information has generally used from surveyed data. A Geographic Information System(GIS) was adopted to evaluate the amount of pollution load in Anyang stream basin which is one of the major tributaries in the Han river flows through urban area. The digital maps of administrative boundary, stream network, sub-basin, soil type, and land-use for spatial data as well as attribute data were generated. And the database of sub-basins and pollution source was structured to estimate pollution load in Anyang stream basin by an Arc/Info GIS.As the results of this investigation, the pollution load of Mokgam-chun sub-basin was the highest amount. And that of Hagi-chun sub-basin and the fourth main stream sub-basin were also high amount in Anyang stream basin. In general, it was found that the pollution load generated from the upstream area in Kyunggi province was higher than that from downstream area in Seoul. Because the point and non-point source pollution load played very significant role in the deterioration of the water quality of the Anyang stream, an integrated approach to water quality management should be required for the sub-basins of high pollution load amount.

In this paper, a novel transmission scheme with spatial modulation is proposed for coded orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM). The multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) technique, so-called spatial modulation (SM), divides input data into antenna index and data signals, transmitting data signals through the specific antenna chosen by the antenna index. In order to retrieve data stream at the receiver, SM needs to detect the antenna index which means that data signals are transmitted via a certain antenna. For this reason, it should be guaranteed that channel matrix is orthogonal. For the real environment, a MIMO channel has difficulty in maintaining orthogonality due to spatial correlation. Moreover, the receiver of the conventional SM is operated by hard decision, so that this scheme has a limit to be adopted for practical systems. Therefore, soft-output demappers for the conventional and proposed schemes are derived to detect antenna index and data stream by soft decision, and a novel transmission scheme combined with spatial modulation is proposed to improve the bit error rate (BER) performance of the conventional scheme.
The Brazos River is one of the longest rivers contained entirely in the state of Texas, flowing over 700 miles from northwest Texas to the Gulf of Mexico. Today, the Brazos River Authority and Texas Commission on Environmental Quality interest in drought protection plan, waterpower project, and allowing the appropriation of water system-wide and water right within the Brazos River Basin to meet water needs of customers like farmers and local civilians in the future. Especially, this purpose of this paper primarily intended to provide the data for the engineering guidelines and make easily geological mapping tool. In the Brazos River basin, many stream-flow gage station sites are not working, and they can not provide stream-flow data sets enough for development of the Probable Maximum Flood (PMF) for use in the evaluation of proposed and existing dams and other impounding structures. Integrated GIS-Spatial Interpolation (GIS-SI) tool are composed of two parts; (1) extended GIS technique (new making interface for hydrological regionalization parameters plus classical GIS mapping skills), (2) Spatial Interpolation technique using weighting factors from kriging method. They are obtained from the relationship among location and elevation of geological watershed and existing stream-flow datasets. GIS-SI technique is easily used to compute parameters which get drainage areas, mean daily/monthly/annual precipitation, and weighted values. Also, they are independent variables of multiple linear regressions for simulation at un gaged stream-flow sites. In this study, GIS-SI technique is applied to the Brazos river basin in Texas. By assuming the ungaged flow at the sites of Palo Pinto, Bryan and Needville, the simulated daily/monthly/annual time series are compared with observed time series. The simulated daily/monthly/annual time series are highly correlated with and well fitted to the observed times series.

This study analyzed the relativity between block stream and talus distributions by employing a likelihood ratio approach. Possible distribution sites for each debris slope landform were extracted by applying a spatial integration model, in which we combined fuzzy set model, Bayesian predictive model, and logistic regression model. Moreover, to verify model performance, a success rate curve was prepared by cross-validation. The results showed that elevation, slope, curvature, topographic wetness index, geology, soil drainage, and soil depth were closely related to the debris slope landform sites. In addition, all spatial integration models displayed an accuracy of over 90%. The accuracy of the distribution potential area map of the block stream was highest in the logistic regression model (93.79%). Eventually, the accuracy of the distribution potential area map of the talus was also highest in the logistic regression model (97.02%). We expect that the present results will provide essential data and propose methodologies to improve the performance of efficient and systematic micro-landform studies. Moreover, our research will potentially help to enhance field research and topographic resource management.
National Institute of Environmental Research (NIER) has developed the Korean Reach File (KRF) for scientific and systematic analysis of variables related to water quality, pollutant sources and aquatic ecosystems in consideration of steam reach networks. The KRF provides a new framework for data production, storage, management and analysis for water related variables in relation to spatial characteristics, connections, and topologies of stream reaches. However, the current version of KRF (ver.2) has limited applicability because its nodes include not only the stream points based on topological characteristics but also those based on water quality monitoring stations, which may undermine its generality. In this study, a new version of KRF (ver.3) was designed and established to overcome the weak point of version 2. The version 3 is a generalization of the old KRF graphic data and it integrates the attribute data while separating it from the graphic data to minimize additional work that is needed for data association and search. We tested the KRF (ver.3) on actual cases and convenience and adaptability for each application was verified. Further research should focus on developing a database link model and real-world applications that are targeted to process event data.

In u-GIS environment, GeoSensor environment requires that dynamic data captured from various sensors and static information in terms of features in 2D or 3D are fused together. GeoSensors, the core of this environment, are distributed over a wide area sporadically, and are collected in any size constantly. As a result, storage space could be exceeded because of restricted memory in DSMS. To solve this kind of problems, a lot of related studies are being researched actively. There are typically 3 different methods - Random Load Shedding, Semantic Load Shedding, and Sampling. Random Load Shedding chooses and deletes data in random. Semantic Load Shedding prioritizes data, then deletes it first which has lower priority. Sampling uses statistical operation, computes sampling rate, and sheds load. However, they are not high accuracy because traditional ones do not consider spatial characteristics. In this paper 'Pre-Filtering based Post Load Shedding' are suggested to improve the accuracy of spatial query and to restrict load shedding in DSMS. This method, at first, limits unnecessarily increased loads in stream queue with 'Pre-Filtering'. And then, it processes 'Post-Load Shedding', considering data and spatial status to guarantee the accuracy of result. The suggested method effectively reduces the number of the performance of load shedding, and improves the accuracy of spatial query.
Hydrological characteristics would be utilized to apply such as hydrologic modelling or basin management. This study is to extract hydrological characteristics through DEM and stream network analysis using a hydrologic unit map and digital topographic map in Milyang river basin. OEM and stream network was generated from digital topographic map. Especially stream network was allowed direction, stream order, and topology. As a result of the study, it shows that Milyang river has been changing geologically mature stage into old phase and the landform of Milyang river correspond to Horton-Strahler's law on morphology of stream. This methodology can be applicable to other areas related to hydrological characteristics with vector data.

Applicability of 8 day interval flow data for the calibration of hydrologic model was evaluated using Hydrological Simulation Program-Fortran (HSPF) at Kyungan watershed. The 8 day interval flow monitored by Ministry of Environment located at upstream was calibrated and periodically validated during 2004-2008. And continuous daily flow monitored by Ministry of Construction & Transportation (MOCT) and located at the mouth was compared with daily simulated data during 2004-2007 as spatial validation. Automatic calibration tool which is Model-Independent Parameter Estimation & Uncertainty Analysis (PEST) was applied for HSPF calibration procedure. The model efficiencies for calibration and periodic validation were 0.63 and 0.88, and model performances were fair and very good, respectively, based on criteria of calibration tolerances. Continuous daily stream flow at the mouth of Kyungan watershed were good agreement with observed continuous daily stream flow with showing 0.63 NS value. The PEST program is very useful tool for HSPF hydrologic calibration using non-continuous daily stream flow as well as continuous daily stream flow. The 8 day interval flow data monitored by MOE could be used to calibrate hydrologic model if the continuous daily stream flow is unavailable.

The volume of memory to store real-time data stream is varied dynamically. Continuous queries processing the data stream must manage the storage volume dynamically. In previous research, according to current volume of data a general memory manager which allocates and releases memory by a page unit is researched. However, the method frequently executes page allocation and release to store data stream. Moreover, particularly delayed queries can monopolize many of pages because the method directly allocates pages when a query has not enough memory. Focusing on the problems in memory management systems, this research proposes a memory management method which reduces the frequency of allocation and release and uniformly distributes pages for queries. The method can reduce the frequency of allocation and release through allocation based on utilization ratio of pages in each query and prevent memory monopoly through memory allocation which considers query delay.
This study aims to generalize the stream network developing algorithm of the geographic hierarchy Stream networks with hierarchy system should be spatially hierarchized in linear features. The generalization procedure of the stream networks are composed of the hierarchy of stream, selection and elimination, and algorithm. Working of stream networks is composed by the decision of direction on stream networks, ranking of stroke segments, and ordering by the strahler method, using geographic data query for controlling selection and elimination of the linear feature by scale. Improved Simoo algorithm was effective in enhancement and decreasing curvature of linear features. Resultantly, it is expected to improve generalization of features with various spatial hierarchy.
