콜린 로우(Colin Rowe) '투명성(transparency) 이론'의 비판적 고찰 - 투명성에 내재된 시간 개념의 분석을 중심으로 - (A Critical Study on Colin Rowe's 'Transparency' - Focusing on the Analysis of the meaning of 'Time and Simultaneity' implicated in 'Transparency' -)

  • Colin Rowe's 'Transparency' is one of core ideas applied to 20th Modern Architecture. It implies not only an optical characteristic, the perfectly clear, but also a broader spacial order, a simultaneous perception of different spacial locations. The former connected with physical attribute itself, and the latter deeply with the metaphorical idea of time, 'Simultaneity', embodying a new spacial quality. However, If we analyze the meaning of "Simultaneity" implicated in "Transparency" with the perspective of Henry Bergson's "Duration", there would be only little possibility as a solution to the problem of embodying a new spacial quality in architecture. As such a question emerging, this paper attempts to point out the problem of Colin Rowe's idea, "Simultaneity", and suggest a new architectural design method to overcome its inconsistency by interpretation and application of Bergson's "Image and Rhythm".

계단의 공간적 특성 연구 (A Study on Spacial Characteristics of Stairs in Architectural Space)

  • From long time ago, stairs are performed the central role of vertical circulation system in architectural planning for convenience of human. The purpose of this study is to find the spacial characteristics of stairs in architectural space. Two methods In this study are discussed. First, it is to extract the formal elements in its stairs shape raising an impulse of visual-perceptible recognition. Second, it is to analysis its characteristic through relationship between stairs and spacial elements. In conclusion, the characteristics of stairs in architectural space have as follows 1) spatial connection - to connect between space and other space or masses; 2) spatial separation - to separate between inner space and other space; 3) openness or closeness of space; 4) directed-tention of space.

시각적 공간자극에 나타난 뇌파반응의 자극 정도와 만족도 변화특성 - 할로겐 조명과 벽의 영향을 중심으로 - (The Change Characteristic of the Stimulation and Satisfaction of the Brain Wave Reaction to the Visual Stimulation in the Space - Focus on the Influence of the Halogen and Wall -)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the change of visual stimulus of users to the space through the experiment of EEG and the satisfaction of users depends on the lighting. To do that, the results measured with EEG experiment focusing on Beta ${\beta}$ were compared to each other to figure out difference in the changes of the activation of human brain on lighting's situation as the lighting off and on in the same space. The difference in the results was verified according to the characteristic of users which classified with 4 types of the spatial sensitivities. The results of this study are as following. Firstly, the spacial sensitivity of user is to communicate well with the different senses with stimulus through interaction among the elements. At this time, the brain plays a major role in build the spacial sensitivity of users as the place to make form. Secondly, there are the differences in the activation of brain depends on lighting situation even in the same space. The stimulus into the brain became generally stronger in images with lighting on than off. Especially, the response in the occipital lobe which connected with the visual center turn out strongly in the image of 'modern natural'. Because the visual stimulus interact well with the bright color, the reflectional texture and the rough texture painted the dark color. Thirdly, the satisfaction of users changed with lighting in the space. But we could know that the satisfaction of users isn't be related to the visual stimulus through the results of this study. Finally, there isn't the difference in the activation degree of brain according to the characteristic which are preference of users into 4 types of the spatial sensitivity through the results came from ANCOVA(analysis of covariance) with SPSS Program 22.

농촌에서 도시로의 공간구조 변화와 특성 - 부산 북구 화명동을 중심으로 - (The Change and Characteristic of Spacial Structure from Rural Space to Urban Space : The Case of Hwamyeong-Dong of Buk-gu in Busan)

  • 본 연구는 부산 북구 화명동을 대상으로 농촌에서 도시로의 전환에 따라 나타나는 공간구조의 변화 과정을 고찰하고 화명동 내외부의 관점에서 획일화, 위계화 등 공간구조의 재구성에 따른 문제점과 특성을 파악해 보고자 하였다. 산업화, 도시화로 인한 도시공간의 팽창으로 농촌에서 도시로 변한 화명동은 고유의 자연환경, 자연마을 등이 사라지고 주거, 상업지역 등으로 바뀌었다. 이에 따라 역사적, 구체적 장소는 사라지고 개발과 발전이라는 명목 하에 전국 어디서나 볼 수 있는 아파트를 중심으로 연출되는 공간의 균질화와 획일화가 이루어졌다. 하지만 주민들의 힘과 노력으로 지켜낸 화명동 고유의 역사와 관습, 기억과 흔적들 그리고 생태하천으로 변모시킨 대천천 등에서 화명동만의 특이성을 드러내고 있었다. 또한 동질적인 농촌공간이었던 화명동은 아파트 공급주체와 규모, 산업시설의 종류와 분포, 주민들의 구성 등의 측면에서 이질적이고 다층적인 도시공간으로 변하였으며 이는 공간뿐 아니라 주거, 교육, 문화 등의 세분화, 위계화를 야기하고 있었다. 특히 대규모 아파트밀집지역으로 개발된 화명3동은 화명2동과 큰 격차를 드러냈으며 과거 중심지였던 화명2동은 주변화 되고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 화명2동에는 생태주거공동체와 교육문화공동체를 중심으로 살기좋은 마을을 만들기 위한 주민들의 움직임과 노력이 있음을 확인할 수 있었다.

실내디자인에 있어 투명성 재료의 표현 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on The Expressive Characteristics of Transparent Materials in Interior Design)

  • Design trend, transparency, which has been developed under a reflection of current periodic environment, has been exposed to people all over the world through varieties of architecture facade and interior space. As interior space follows this trend, which has difference in showing space from the past, transparency becomes an important measure of showing openness of certain space. Main objective of this research is to understand a characteristics of materials that leads transparency a important measure to the modern interior design, and this will set the range to this applicable materials for appropriate areas of defining transparency in an interior. Characteristic uses of transparent materials found in this research which leads transparency into interior space are described below: First, there are two perspectives in transparency. One is visibility and material wised transparency and the other is conditional and spacial wised transparency. With this knowledge, we can expand a level of transparency with ideas such as clarity, opacity, visible transmission, and reflection, and this broadened range will vary the acceptable materials used to show transparency. Second, transparent materials are used with many different purposes in modern interior space as furnitures, sanitary fixtures, partitions, and other structures. With using modern technology in reforming this materials brought new methods in structure composing. last, transparent materials' expnt pable characteristics made modern interior space to have a control over spacial homogeneity, a simplified octlines, weakened boundaries, and compositional effects by interference and vision.

Louis I. Kahn 주택작품의 평면구성에 관한 연구 -1950년대 주택작품을 중심으로- (A Study on the Plan Composition of Louis I. Kahn′s Residential Architecture)

  • Louis I. Kahn's spacial composition is characterized by traditional motives and Ecole des Beaux which had influenced him. This influence had showed five forms about Kahn's spacial composition. His constituent factors in geometrical form are classified into the propositional system, the cellular multiplication of a special unit, the Poche Space and others. According to the results of this study obtained from above mentioned subjects, it can be concluded that geometrical factors, which constitute space of plan, are totally expressed as a system of order which unites particular ones into whole one. This characteristic had developed into a completed meaning for passing through the residential architecture in 1950's, and showed in the other artworks there after.

웨이브릿 계수의 퍼지 동질성과 고주파 에너지를 이용한 영상 검색용 특징벡터 추출 (Visual Feature Extraction for Image Retrieval using Wavelet Coefficient’s Fuzzy Homogeneity and High Frequency Energy)

  • 본 논문에서는 공간주파수 특성과 다중 해상도 특성을 모두 갖는 웨이브릿 변환을 이용하여 각 대역의 특성에 맞는 비주얼 특징을 추출하고 이를 내용기반 영상 검색에 이용하는 새로운 방법을 제시하였다. 웨이브릿 변환된 영상의 최저주파 대역은 원 영상의 근사한 형태로 공간 정보를 충분히 활용할 수 있다. 이를 위해 웨이브릿 계수값과 각 계수간의 공간 정보를 모두 고려한 퍼지 동질성(FH : Fuzzy Homogeneity)를 이용하여 L개의 특징 벡터를 추출하였고, 나머지 고주파 대역의 에너지 값을 이용하여 3개의 특징 벡터를 추출하여 이를 영상 데이터베이스에 저장한다. 질의 시에는 L개의 FH 벡터 중 가장 크기가 큰 10개의 값과 3개의 고주파 대역의 에너지 값을 이용하여 가장 유사한 영상을 검색하였다. 90개의 텍스쳐 영상을 사용해 실험한 결과 좋은 정확성을 보였다.

  • This study focuses on the proposal of the basic data for the design guideline on the coming design, through the comparison analysis of the community facility's layout type inside housing complex, the space configuration and the characteristic of space program for the achievement and improvement of the physical space to cultivate the sense of community. This study investigate interviews with designers, administrators, residents, and site survey. The result of study shows that the community facilities in the public rental apartments have changed to include various programs and to increase the area like the public sales apartments, but there are spacial transformation if the community facilities do not apply the residents characteristic.

노후 경사주거지 쇠퇴지표로서의 유휴공간 발생패턴 연구 (A Study on the Occurrence Pattern of Vacant Spaces as the Decline Index in Old Hillside Residential Area)

  • This study is about occurrence pattern of vacant spaces as a urban decline indicator to consider a decline of old hillside residential area from spatial structure perspective. For investigation based upon vacant space and the street structure, this study selects Ami Chojang-dong in Seo-gu, Busan, of which 79.7% of total area is over a gradient of $10^{\circ}$. Focused on relationship between occurrence pattern of vacant spaces and 'vertical alleys(link)' serving as main movement path of local residents in hillside residential area, the length, numbers, slopes, and use characteristic of vertical alleys were analyzed using Arc GIS 9.3 program to classify characteristic zone types of spacial structure in hillside residential area. After the occurrence pattern of vacant space are interpreted in relation with building density, vertical alleys' number length slope, the social and economic issues have been considered as well. After analyzing the occurrence pattern of vacant space, this study argues that the occurrence pattern of vacant space in old hillside residential area is rather affected by street structure system consisting of vertical alleys than the impacts of social economical issues.
