  • A two-degree of freedom model Is suggested to understand the basic dynamical behaviors of the interaction between two masses of the friction induced vibration system. The two masses may be considered as the pad and the dusk of the brake. The phase space analysis is performed to understand complicated dynamics of the non-linear model. Attractors in the phase space are examined for various conditions of the parameters of the model especially by emphasizing on the damping parameters. In certain conditions, the attractor becomes a limit cycle showing the stick-slip phenomena. In this Paper, not only titre existence of the limit cycle but also the sloe of the limit cycle is examined to demonstrate the non-linear dynamics that leads the unstable state. For the two different cases of the system frequency[(1) Two masses with same natural frequencies, (2) with different natural frequencies] . the propensity of limit cycle Is discussed In detail. The results show an important fact that it may make the system worse when too much damping Is present in the only one part of the masses.

  • Most of the previously employed dynamic modeling approaches, including Natural Orthogonal Complement Algorithm, have limitations on their application to the mobile robot, specifically at singular configurations. Also, in their dynamic modeling of mobile robots, wheel dynamics is usually ignored assuming that its dynamic effect is negligibly small. As a remedy for this, a singularity-free operational space dynamic modeling approach based on Lagrange's form of the D' Alembert principle is proposed, and the singularity-free characteristic of the proposed dynamic modeling is discussed in the process of analytical derivation of the proposed dynamic model. Then an accurate dynamic model taking into account the wheel dynamics of the omni-directional mobile robot is derived, and through simulation it is manifested that the effect of the wheel dynamics on the whole dynamic model of the mobile robot may not be negligible, but rather in some cases it is significantly large, possibly affecting the operational performances of dynamic model-based control algorithms. Lastly, the importance of its accurate dynamic model is further illustrated through impulse analysis and its simulation for the mobile robot.

  • To identify the driving dynamic characteristics of the Tractor-Trailer Type Transporter for mounting a large scale precision equipment, real vehicle driving tests on the 3 inch-bump-space-road were performed. And using general Dynamics Analysis Program - RecurDyn(V8R5), Dynamics M&S were carried out assuming the similar condition with real tests. Then the acceleration data obtained from real tests and M&S were analyzed and compared with each other in the part of root-mean-square-acceleration($g_{rms}$), peak-acceleration($g_{peak}$) and frequencies. In simple view of the $g_{rms}$ & $g_{peak}$, although the results of MRBD are more similar to ones of the real vehicle driving tests, but the results of RFlex have more information to get various useful dynamic characteristics.

  • In this paper, an analytic solution method is proposed to overcome the numerical problems when the slewing dynamics of hybrid coordinate systems is investigated via time finite element analysis. It is shown that the dynamics of the hybrid coordinate systems is governed by the coupled dual differential equations for both slewing and structural modes. Structural modes are transformed into the time-based modal coordinates and analytic spatial propagation equations are derived for each space-dependent time mode. Slew angle history is obtained analytically by appropriate applications of the boundary conditions and structural propagation is re-calculated using the slew angle. Numerical examples are demonstrated to validate the proposed analytic method in comparison to the existing state transition matrix method.

  • We investigated the qualitive and quantitative properties in EEG signal which responds to auditory stimulus with increaing the sound-cutting frequency from 2 Hz to 20 Hz by 2 Hz step units, by chaotic dynamics. To bigin with, general chaotic properties such as fractal mechanism, 1 If frequency spectrum and positive Lyapunov exponent are discussed in EEG signal. For evoked potential with given auditory stimulus, the route to chaos by bifurcation diagram and the changes in geometrical property of Poincare sections of 2-dimensional psedophase space is observed. For that containing spontaneous potential, seen as the random background signal, the chaotic attractors in 3-dimensional phase space are found containing the same infomation as the above mentioned evoked potential. Finally the chinges of Lyapunov exponent by various sound-cutting frequencies of stimulus and by the various spatial positions (occipital region) in a brain surface to be measured, are illustrated meaningfully.

  • This study examines changes in commercial space in Seoul from 1999 to 2016 by investigating operating periods of commercial businesses. This study finds that the characteristics of spatial changes in commercial districts are classified by the following two major points. First, the traditional CBD and Yeongdeung-po commercial districts show that both ages (survival duration) of operating commercial businesses and operating periods of market-exit businesses have changed to become longer than the average values of the two business types in Seoul. In contrast, the Gangnam and the Mapo commercial districts show that the operating periods of survived and closed commercial businesses have changed to become shorter over time. The difference suggests that survival-exit relations of businesses are closely related to the characteristics of each commercial district. In addition, this study shows that each commercial district has experienced dynamic changes in the intensity of commercial activities and the hierarchy of commercial space. Finally, this study indicates that public policies for commercial space should consider survival-exit dynamics of commercial activities in commercial districts.

  • For molecular dynamics requires high-performance computers or supercomputers to handle huge amount of computation, it is not until recent days that the application of molecular dynamics to materials fracture simulations draw some attention from many researchers. With the recent advent of high-performance computers, computation intensive methods become more tractable than ever. However, carrying out materials simulation on high-performance computers costs too much in general. In this study, a PC cluster consisting of multiple commodity PCs is established and computer simulations of materials with cracks are carried out on it via molecular dynamics technique. The effect of the number of nodes, speedup factors, and communication time between nodes are measured to verify the performance of the PC cluster. Upon using the PC cluster, materials fracture simulations with more than 50,000 molecules are carried out successfully.

  • Parallel computing method is widely used in the computational fluid dynamics for efficient numerical analysis. Nowadays, low cost Linux cluster computers substitute for traditional supercomputers with parallel computing shcemes. The performance of nemerical solvers on an Linux cluster computer is highly dependent not on the performance of processors but on the performance of network devices in the cluster system. In this paper, we investigated the effects of the network devices such as Myrinet2000, gigabit ethernet, and fast ethernet on the performance of the cluster system by using some benchmark programs such as Netpipe, LINPACK, NAS NPB, and MPINS2D Navier-Stokes solvers. Finally, upon this investigation, we will suggest the method for building high performance low cost Linux cluster system in the computational fluid dynamics analysis.

  • In contrast with STT missiles, the guidance law design for BTT missiles should be based on 3-dimensional pursuit kinematics, since the pitch and roll channels of BTT missiles are coupled dynamically. More generally than the prior works, the dynamics of pitch and roll channels, as well as 3-dimensional pursuit kinematics are considered in the design of our terminal-phase optimal guidance law for BTT missiles proposed in this paper. Thereby, the proposed optimal guidance law guarantees high capturability with small miss distance without significant performance degradation due to time-lag effect even in case of relatively slow autopilot dynamics. Moreover, the resulting optimal guidance law is expressed explicitly in feedback-form with the coefficients given as the functions of time-to-go. The effectiveness and practicality of our work is demonstrated through various simulation results.

  • According to the development of loading equipments, it is usual to change or replace the existing stores. It has been known that pylon-mounted under stores strongly affect aircraft dynamics characteristics due to the change of aerodynamics. To predict the aerodynamics and aero-elasticity is essentially requested with considering the configuration and shape of external stores during the development of aircraft and/or external stores. In this paper, computational fluid dynamics and computational structure dynamics interaction methodology are applied for prediction of aerodynamic characteristics for F-5 aircraft's horizontal tail with various shape of external stores. FLUENT and ABAQUS were used to calculate fluid and structural dynamics. Code-bridge was made base on the globally supported radial basis function to execute interpolation and mapping. As a result, even though the aeroelasticity of the horizontal tail slightly changes according to the shape of external store, the flutter was not occurred at the considered flight conditions in this study.
