This study examines the furniture usage behavior of the apartment dwellers in tile city of furniture usage by resident’s characteristics, such as floor space size, household income, the stage of family life cycle and housewife’s age. To this end, interviews were conducted with 304 individuals, either household heads or their spouses living in three residential areas in Seoul. The sample was selected among people living in apartment units with the 30s and 40s pyong of floor space size. The major findings of this study are as fllows ; The furniture and furnishings selected for the study are grouped into four clusters such as conversation-space components, ordinary decoration, high-quality decoration and miscellaneous components. Families in the stage of primary school life cycle were likely to possess fewer furniture and decorations than those in the stage of high school life cycle and in the launching stage. Younger housewives are less likely to possess ordinary and high-quality decorations than the older. Those living in the larger apartment units are likely to decorate their living room in an ornamental rather than functional way, and to possess more ordinary and high-quality decorations than those in the smaller. In this study, the size of floor space appers a variable most powerful to explain the pattern of furniture usage.

The column for Steel Framed Reinforced Concrete Structure (SFRCS) and the column for Reinforced Concrete Structure (RCS) could be the most common building structure. The increasing of the need for massive space hasaffected the size of building components for supporting the massive structure. However, the changing of components size makes inefficient space of building. Hence, to meet the need for acquiring efficient space comparing the budget and cost the new structure method, Concrete Filled Tube Steel (CFT), was developed. CFT is the structure for which steel tube instead of other materials such as wood for holding concrete is used. The most benefit of this one is to help in reducing the size of the building components and local buckling because of tube steel holding concrete. For this reason, this research will examine the probability of applying CFT on construction sites by using the concrete (800kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$) especially for CFT through the data from the real size mock-up.

As buildings in South Korea become more skyscrapers, the risk of fire is also emerging. Thus, regulations, regulations, and guidelines are being improved to prevent the spread of smoke in the event of a fire in high-rise buildings, but research on smoke flow and pressure distribution in vertical spaces is insufficient. Therefore, in this study, the temperature of each floor in the vertical space according to the size of the fire is measured through the miniature model experiment, and the pressure difference is calculated to establish the basic data for the improvement of the performance of domestic air supply facilities in the future. Thus, a scale model of one-sixth the size of the actual building was produced to measure the temperature, and the pressure difference was derived by substituting the value for the expression. The pressure difference varies depending on the size of the cause of the fire, and it is believed that the differential pressure and conditions of the building should be taken into account before calculating the supply volume for the analysis of the pressure difference according to the size of the cause of the fire in the event of fire.
The performance of human detection system is affected by camera location and view angle. In 2D image acquired from such camera settings, humans are displayed in different sizes. Detecting all the humans with diverse sizes poses a difficulty in realizing a real-time system. However, if the size of a human in an image can be predicted, the processing time of human detection would be greatly reduced. In this paper, we propose a method that estimates human size by constructing an indoor scene in 3D space. Since the human has constant size everywhere in 3D space, it is possible to estimate accurate human size in 2D image by projecting 3D human into the image space. Experimental results validate that a human size can be predicted from the proposed method and that machine-learning based detection methods can yield the reduction of the processing time.
The purpose of this study is to propose a way of making the master's space of the apartment suitable for new housing need. This study is to research the typology of master's space which is one of the major component of apartment plan. And also transition of the typology and size of master's space were analyzed. The 895 examples of unit floor plan were selected and classified according to the net area. The object of this study is the apartment plan which were constructed in Seoul, Il-san and Bun-dang and whose area is above 100 ㎡. Through this analysis and research, this study is to provide the basic data for actual design process and to suggest future trends of apartment houses.

This paper proposes a face recognition method using feature spaces and image vectors in the image plane. We obtain the 2-D feature space using the self-organizing map which has two inputs from the axis of the given image. The image vector consists of its weights and the average gray levels in the feature space. Also, we can reconstruct an normalized face by using the image vector having no connection with the size of the given face image. In the proposed method, each face is recognized with the best match of the feature spaces and the maximum match of the normally retrieval face images, respectively. For enhancing recognition rates, our method combines the two recognition methods by the feature spaces and the retrieval images. Simulations are conducted on the ORL(Olivetti Research laboratory) images of 40 persons, in which each person has 10 facial images, and the result shows 100% recognition and 14.5% rejection rates for the 20$\times$20 feature sizes and the 24$\times$28 retrieval image size.
The purpose of this study is to identify residential stress and to analyse the factors affect on it, based on the comprehensive theoretical model. For this purpose, 822 housewives were collected from the households in Seoul and Chonju-City. The main results obtained are as follows. 1. A significant proportion of the urban households surveyed are observed to suffer from residential stressors. The components of residential stressors are housing facilities, family living space, social interaction with the neighborhoods, physical condition of house. 2. Among the factors that affect residential stress the most important household environment factors are, the level of family controllability, which is followed by the family adaptation ability, the size of living space, the level of life satisfaction, and the type of housing tenure. The results of this study implies that residential stress is associated with not only residential size but also the level of housing facilities and social interaction. Overall upgrading of residential quality requires efficient allocation of living space and facilities on the basis of resident's needs. For instance, homeowners want more living space and renters want higher level of residential facilities.
A projection-based active information display system was proposed. The proposed system is based on Intelligent Space and a steerable projector mounted mobile robot which is called Ubiquitous Display (UD). In order to transfer visual information for a human in the Intelligent Space, the UD projects a certain shape of an image with a fixed size. Due to redundancy of degree of freedom (DOF), there are lots of situations to project a same shape and size of the image on a surface. In this paper, we describe a method to determine a goal posture of the UD. Here, the goal posture is the most efficient position and orientation of the UD so as to project visual information and it is determined by the Intelligent Space. To verify the proposed method, simulation and demonstration are carried out.

This paper is to investigate passing performance of high performance concrete between reinforcing bar depending on maximum size of coarse aggregates. Increase in maximum size of coarse results in decrease in water demand and sand to aggregate to secure target slump flow. The larger the maximum size of coarse aggregates is, the denser the space between reinforcing bar is, the amount of concrete passed through the reinforcing bar cage shows to decrease. HPC has favorable passing performance, regardless of aggregate size, when only vertical reinforcing bar is arranged. Whereas, when vertical and horizontal reinforcing bar is arranged at the same time, proper space between reinforcing bar is considered larger than 32mm in case of using 20mm coarse aggregate, 38mm in case of using 25mm aggregate. The increase in maximum size of coarse aggregate leads to increase compressive strength slightly. Length change shows to be decreased with the increase in maximum size of coarse aggregate.
