A novel Virtual Space Vector (VSV) modulation strategy for complete control of potential neutral point (NP) issues is proposed in this paper. The neutral point potential balancing problems of multi-level converters, which include elimination of low frequency oscillations and self-balancing for NP dc unbalance, are investigated first. Then a set of improved virtual space vectors with dynamic adjustment factors are introduced and a multi-objective optimization algorithm which aims to optimize these adjustment factors is presented in this paper. The improved virtual space vectors and the multi-objective optimization algorithm constitute the novel Virtual Space Vector modulation. The proposed novel Virtual Space Vector modulation can simultaneously recover NP dc unbalance and eliminate low frequency oscillations of the neutral point. Experiment results show that the proposed strategy has excellent performance, and that both of the neutral point potential issues can be solved.
A novel space vector modulation strategy in the non-orthogonal three-dimensional coordinate system for multi-level three-phase four-wire inverters is proposed in this paper. This new non-orthogonal three-dimensional space vector modulation converts original trigonometric functions in the orthogonal three-dimensional space coordinate into simple algebraic operations, which greatly reduces the algorithm complexity of three-dimensional space vector modulation and preserves the independent control of the zero-sequence component. Experimental results have verified the correctness and effectiveness of the proposed three-dimensional space vector modulation in the new non-orthogonal three-dimensional coordinate system.

This paper presents a new method for the attitude control of planar space robots. In order to control highly constrained non-linear system such as a 3D space robot, the analytical formulation for the system with complex dynamics and effective control methodology based on the formulation, are not always obtainable. In the proposed method, correspondingly, a non-analytical but effective self-organizing modeling method for controlling a highly constrained system is proposed based on a polynomial data mining algorithm. In order to control the attitude of a planar space robot, it is well known to require inputs characterized by a special pattern in time series with a non-deterministic length. In order to correspond to this type of control paradigm, we adopt the Model Predictive Control (MPC) scheme where the length of the non-deterministic horizon is determined based on implementation cost and control performance. The optimal solution to finding the size of the input pattern is found by a solving two-stage programming problem.

Multi-objective design exploration (MODE) and its applications are reviewed as an attempt to utilize numerical simulation in aerospace engineering design. MODE reveals the structure of the design space based on trade-off information. A self-organizing map (SOM) is incorporated into MODE as a visual data mining tool for the design space. SOM divides the design space into clusters with specific design features. This article reviews existing visual data mining techniques applied to engineering problems. Then, we discuss three applications of MODE: multidisciplinary design optimization for a regional-jet wing, silent supersonic technology demonstrator and centrifugal diffusers.
Recently, based on dynamic location or mobility of moving object, many researches on pattern mining methods actively progress to extract more available patterns from various moving patterns for development of location based services. The performance of moving pattern mining depend on how analyze and process the huge set of spatio-temporal data. Some of traditional spatio-temporal pattern mining methods[1-6,8-11]have proposed to solve these problem, but they did not solve properly to reduce mining execution time and minimize required memory space. Therefore, in this paper, we propose new spatio-temporal pattern mining method which extract the sequential and periodic frequent moving patterns efficiently from the huge set of spatio-temporal moving data. The proposed method reduces mining execution time of $83%{\sim}93%$ rate on frequent moving patterns mining using the moving sequence tree which generated from historical data of moving objects based on hash tree. And also, for minimizing the required memory space, it generalize the detained historical data including spatio-temporal attributes into the real world scope of space and time using spatio-temporal concept hierarchy.

Typical Apriori-like methods for mining sequential patterns have some problems such as generating of many candidate patterns and repetitive searching of a large database. And PrefixSpan constructs the prefix projected databases which are stepwise partitioned in the mining process. It can reduce the searching space to estimate the support of candidate patterns, but the construction cost of projected databases is still high. For efficient sequential pattern mining, we need to reduce the cost to generate candidate patterns and searching space for the generated ones. To solve these problems, we proposed SuffixSpan(Suffix checked Sequential Pattern mining), a new method for sequential pattern mining, and show a formal approach to our method.
For efficient sequential pattern mining, we need to reduce the cost to generate candidate patterns and searching space for the generated ones. Although Apriori-like methods like GSP[8] are simple, they have some problems such as generating of many candidate patterns and repetitive searching of a large database. PrefixSpan[2], which was proposed as an alternative of GSP, constructs the prefix projected databases which are stepwise partitioned in the mining process. It can reduce the searching space to estimate the support of candidate patterns, but the construction cost of projected databases is still high. To solve these problems, we proposed SuffixSpan(Suffix checked Sequential Pattern mining) as a new sequential pattern mining method. It generates a small size of candidate pattern sets using partition property and suffix property at a low cost and also uses 1-prefix projected databases as the searching space in order to reduce the cost of estimating the support of candidate patterns.

Text Mining is a research area of retrieving high quality hidden information such as patterns, trends, or distributions through analyzing unformatted text. Basically, since text mining assumes an unstructured text, it needs to be represented as a simple text model for analyzing it. So far, most frequently used model is VSM(Vector Space Model), in which a text is represented as a bag of words. However, recently much researches tried to apply a graph-based text model for representing semantic relationships between words. In this paper, we survey research trends of graph-based text representation models for text mining. Additionally, we also discuss about future models of graph-based text mining.

High-utility itemset mining (HIUM) has emerged as a key data-mining paradigm for object-of-interest identification and recommendation systems that serve as frequent itemset identification tools, product or service recommendation systems, etc. Recently, it has gained widespread attention owing to its increasing role in business intelligence, top-N recommendation, and other enterprise solutions. Despite the increasing significance and the inability to provide swift and more accurate predictions, most at-hand solutions, including frequent itemset mining, HUIM, and high average- and fast high-utility itemset mining, are limited to coping with real-time enterprise demands. Moreover, complex computations and high memory exhaustion limit their scalability as enterprise solutions. To address these limitations, this study proposes a model to extract high-utility frequent closed itemsets based on an improved cumulative summary list structure (CSLFC-HUIM) to reduce an optimal set of candidate items in the search space. Moreover, it employs the lift score as the minimum threshold, called the cumulative utility threshold, to prune the search space optimal set of itemsets in a nested-list structure that improves computational time, costs, and memory exhaustion. Simulations over different datasets revealed that the proposed CSLFC-HUIM model outperforms other existing methods, such as closed- and frequent closed-HUIM variants, in terms of execution time and memory consumption, making it suitable for different mined items and allied intelligence of business goals.

In this study, a surrogate model is applied to multi-objective aerodynamic optimization design. For the balanced exploration and exploitation, each objective function is converted into the Expected Improvement (EI) and this value is used as fitness value in the multi-objective optimization instead of the objective function itself. Among the non-dominated solutions about EIs, additional sample points for the update of the Kriging model are selected. The present method was applied to a transonic airfoil design. Design results showed the validity of the present method. In order to obtain the information about design space, two data mining techniques are applied to design results: Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and the Self-Organizing Map (SOM).
