The objective of this study is to understand bodily extension and identity in contemporary fashion art through the analysis of 'the fashion acting on the body' among the fashion theory excluding body and the conspicuous works on the opening and covering images as a fashion art as a body-space'. This study also investigated identity problems where there are poles apart in opening and closure their bodies and body-space in which its clothing types were distorted by being de-bodilization out of the traditional and ideological expression method in contemporary fashion art from a opening and closure point of view. Image of opening and closure among body-space in fashion art can be classified into opposing structure of opening and closure. Destroying the boundary between bodily opening and closure for a primary function of clothing and dismantling the role and boundary between body and clothing, opening body-space in appearance as a reemergence of body image or the border between inner and outer are being ambiguous because of transparent material. Being representative work of this study opening body-space was expressed as an opening space image using transparency. On the contrary, closure body-space was isolated from external environment and confined in the certain space, which could limit or restraint body- action. Excluding boundary of body and clothing on the whole or in part, boundary of work becomes body-space. However, these were appeared to be a work inducing unlimited curiosity and meaning from the audience. The interpretation of artistic and body-space in fashion art are indicating the role and function of the fashion art exceeding the suggestible dimensions in the every day life of fashion. The body-space of fashion art showing similar aspect of body art today could be understood that it is substituted into an metaphorical, critical space by seeing it as a symbol system connected with social space. Therefore, contemporary fashion art should be interpreted as an equivocal space looking at the body-space with open mind.

The essential identity of public library is a local knowledge and information center that guarantees access and use of present generation and descendant. However recently the public library is being called with core space for lifelong learning, hub of cultural activities, information gateway, community center, local public goods, information commons, democracy cradle, the second living room, etc. The spectrum for the identity of the public library in Korea is not only very wide, but also is confused. The researcher who paid attention to such a reality analyzed laws and regulations, local administrative organizations, national and official statistics related public library, and suggested evidences of the identity confusion. Based on this result, researcher proposed the principles and plans to get over the identity confusion of the public library.
The purpose of this study is to establish the identity of the traditional residential space in Korea and Japan as analyzing the spatial characteristics and sociocultural roles of the 'in-between space' shown in their traditional dwelling space. Although they share culture area, it is meaningful to clarify the identity of both countries with many differences as the point of localization In globalization and the point of presenting the current and future directions of residential culture in both countries. Records and field studies have been carried out for the spatial characteristics and the sociocultural role focused on Ma-dang and Dae-chung in case of the 'in-between space' in Korean traditional dwellings and Inner housing, Doma, and Engawa in Japan. According to these findings, the spatial characteristics in common between Korea and Japan are open, half-open, separation, mitigation, integration, variation, continuation, hierarchy, mediation, and expansion. The 'in-between space', built by the separate Chae and Kan, of Korean traditional dwellings shows the separation by closed walls and the exclusive use by the fixed walls. In case of Japan, the integrated in-between space built by the separation of Kan shows open and connective tendencies and the variableness of walls has the tendency making ambiguous space with spatial softness. The sociocultural role of the 'in-between space' in Korean traditional dwelling space functions as the mitigation between the interior and exterior of the house as well as the male and female. Because the conception for protecting the private life is too weak, the sociocultural role of the 'in-between space' in Japanese traditional dwelling space seldom forms the space for an individual or the specific person among family. The space to welcome a guest functions as the mitigation between residents and outsiders as it is located in the inside of the private dwelling space.
Since Adolf Loos' Ornament and Crime was released, ornament had been regarded as a vice in Modern architecture. In Post Modern architecture, the ornamental vocabularies extracted from the classical architecture have been symbolically expressed. As a result, the significance of existence of and the use value of architecture have increased with improved intimacy to the public. However, many studies that have analyzed architecture in terms of semantics and semiotics focusing on communication between architecture and the public have admitted instability in architectural meaning because of the fundamental difference between architecture and language. At the same time, the architectural representation has encountered a lot of limitations along with the deconstruction and non-presentation theory in Post-Structuralism. Even under these circumstances, the ornamental representation can be a critical factor which makes communication possible while expressing spatial identity in this pluralistic contemporary society. Hence, this paper has established logical grounds for research based on theoretical investigation on the concept of representation, semiotics, and ornamental representation, with regard to spatial communication through ornamental representation in commercial space. Based on Peirce's Semiotics which is the typical theoretical science in terms of representation, this paper has analyzed the three kinds of signs (Icon, Index and Symbol) that he proposed. Peirce's classification of signs becomes ideal when the factors are well balanced, with room for combination instead of strict classification. It appears that his theory of signs would be useful in understanding and analyzing ornamental representation. This study on representational ornament could offer a plan for ideal communication and abundant spatial experience in the interior design of commercial space in which the expression of creative space identity is required.
This paper examines what is the content of Gusan's urban identity, represented by the film and how the contents and aspects of this city's identity interact with the structure of the films' discourse. weaves Gunsan and Seoul into continuously reorganized cities based on an interactive relation, rather than literal ones. Seoul in which the time for a film narrative is closed is converted into the starting point for tour to Gunsan. The both points in which audiences' ex post return occurs are the starting point for the time for the film discourse and the other point in which the title is suggested. The journey-type of the narrative structure in this film is a3-dimensional spiral-shaped, rather than a 2-dimensional circular regression. embodies the characteristics and the identity and apriority of two cities, based on such a spiral-shaped temporal and spatial structure. Seoul severs the relation between grand narrative/collective memory and small narrative/individual memory as an agnostic one, in other words, it is a city that cuts off cities, relations and memory and rejects the continuity of memory. On the other hand, Gunsan is a city in which both grand and small narrative and collective and individual memory coexist and both split and isolated mind are cured and mutually consoled. It describes Gunsan as the surplus space as a being for others, while expressing its identity as robust and literal thing. The film describes it as the field in which oppositional concepts such as historical interruption and continuity and spatial being for others and originality become 3-dimensional spiral ones, through the reciprocity between the narrative and the discourse structure. This paper has an implication, in that it examines how temporal and spatial relationship constituting the urban identity interacts with the structure of the film narrative.
With the increased quality of life, the meaning of houses is shifting from a functional space for the simple purpose of residing to a symbolic space representing life as personality. Starting with the advancement of IKEA into Korea last year, global brands are about to enter into Korea. As Korean brands are not certain about how to set their direction in the situation where global brands have rushed into the market, it was thought that a key to solve the problem could be found from the cases of the lifestyle stores of Japan, which is moving one step ahead of Korea. Considering the circumstances, the author limited the subjects of this study to the lifestyle stores that have already established their brand identity and have prominent expressional characteristics of interior design in Japan. Research and analysis were conducted through site inspection and books. As a study method, literature and previous research were reviewed to find the program characteristics of interactivity and participation, the spatial characteristics of accessibility and the expressional characteristics of symbolism, scene continuity and function complexity, as the basis for an analysis. The results of the analysis showed that Japanese lifestyle stores are appealing to consumers as the spaces with their own differentiated space composition and various programs, by establishing their unique concepts and explicit brand identity. It is expected that such expressional characteristics of interior design will be of help in defining the direction of interior design of Korean lifestyle stores in the future.
This paper tried to examine the implications of the sites of memory and diaspora memory of the life of Jun Itami(Yoo Dong-ryong), a Korean architect in Japan who is interpellated as Zainichi Koreana adopting theoretical and methodological discussions on memory, sites of memory, diaspora, and identity. To this end, the documentary was selected as the subject of analysis. According to the research results, which consists of a total of 48 scenes, is based on the assumption that the sea and Japan and Korea between the sea are the space of memory, and emphasizes that Itami Jun, who had to live as a borderliner and a stranger is disengaged from the borders of nationalities, territories, and countries. In particular, the story of Jun Itami set the sea as a diachronic space(sites of memory) that penetrates the past and present and explores his diaspora identity. The sites of memory of Jun Itami reconstructed in can be said to be a memory space that makes Yoo Dong-ryong more firmly aware of his diaspora identity as a Korean.

It shows how changes onpeople's point of view on dental offices as a business and high interesting on aesthetic. The child dental office also specialized from 1990s. It had been divided by not sort of sickness but ages of children. Thus it should support not just basic functions what other dentist of vice does but also comfortable environment to guide children patients' behavior who get afraid easily. However the interior of existing the child dental office was more focused on visual decoration but consideration of space. Thus the space is very superficial and plain, so there is limitation to give suitable environment to children patients. Therefore, from this study, I will research what is the proper space to control children patients' behavior based on well balance of space and decoration designs. Also from the research, I will explain fundamental design ideas on the child dental office space.
Avoiding the unified productivity that was caused by the mechanical and technical development due to Industrial Revolution in the past, modern design is incessantly evolving in search of new motive, namely, diversity. Further, we live in the age when the propensity that serves public interest and purpose and sometimes shows quite individual character should be considered. As a result, the comprehensive and harmonious trend of emotional design is being highlighted more remarkably. Involving the social background that further respects human dignity, this is closely related to diverse issues such as human right which should be guaranteed and pursued for individual. While the tradition and innovation caused by the encounter of machine and art had confrontation and conflict in the past, the direction has changed to incessant evolution and interaction where paradigm of technical progress and development is newly composed and changed in modern times. The meaning of service in medical area is expanding and developing from the simple treatment to the more comprehensive healing. Medical space will evolve to the healing space that attaches importance to emotional aspect of human dimension which further understands and respects human being in the future.
