The Effect of Mobile Phone Use on University Students' English Reading Achievement (모바일 폰 활용이 대학생들의 영어 독해 학습 성취도에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of mobile phone use on university students' English reading achievement and consider the value and effectiveness of mobile phones as a learning tool. The study's subjects were students from a university in Seoul, who were divided into an experimental group (n=37) and a control group (n=43). The experimental group used various mobile phone functions-such as searching, recording, taking photos, using mobile apps, and community uploads-in reading class. The control group, on the other hand, focused on students' presentations and the professor's explanations. Two achievement tests and an open-ended questionnaire were administered. The results revealed that the experimental group scored higher than the control group, which showed a significant difference. In addition, the positive impacts of mobile phone use as reported in the questionnaire were interest and motivation, self-directed learning, and continuous learning beyond time and space. In order to foster efficient second language teaching and learning, learners and also teachers must be aware of the potential value of mobile phones as a learning tool. To encourage more active mobile phone use in the classroom, diverse and interesting class activities using mobile phones should be developed.

Influence of Temperature and Affinity of Disperse Dye on Dyeing of PET(Polyethylene Terephthalate) Microfiber (PET 초극세사 염색에서 분산염료의 친화력과 온도 의존성)

  • PET microfibers with various diameters (0.5, 0.2, 0.06, and 0.01 dpf) were dyed with a dispersed dye (C.I. Disperse Blue 56) at various temperatures. The dyeing process was conducted under infinite dyebath conditions at constant temperatures. The effects of the dyeing temperature and diameter on the partition coefficient, affinity, and diffusion coefficient of disperse dyes were studied. The curve of isotherms was fitted well to Nernst-type model in a large range of initial dye concentrations. At the same temperature, the partition coefficient and affinity decreased with increasing sample diameter due to the increase in surface area. At all deniers, the partition coefficient and affinity decreased with increasing temperature because the dyeing process is an exothermic reaction. In addition, the decrease in radius of the sample gives rise to a decrease in the heat of dyeing. The fine diameter of the sample resulted in an increased surface area but decreased space between the microfibers. Consequently, decreasing the diameter of the microfibers leads to a decrease in the diffusion coefficient. At the same diameter, the diffusion coefficient increased with increasing temperature because of rapid dye movement and the large free volume of the sample inside. In addition, thermal dependence of the diffusion coefficient increased when the diameter of the sample increased.

A Study on the Improvement Method for Efficient Service of E-GEN AED using Time and Spatial Data (시·공간 데이터를 활용한 E-GEN AED의 효율적 서비스를 위한 개선방안)

  • In this study were analyzed the errors on the registration of details information, location of E-GEN (Emergency medical-GEN) AED (Automated External Defibrillator) installation site and the adequacy of spatial arrangement, which suggests an improvement methods of constructing an app or web based on time and space data for efficient operation of considering accessibility and usability. As a result of this study, first, it was not equal to each other for locations of each installation point of AED, that confirmed some area were dense or requiring additional installation. Second, it confirmed the inaccuracies in inputting and registering information about the installed location, such as the actual installation location information and the attribute information of the AED. Third, the main access node and the main address node were connected to a straight line that was found not be connected to the back door, the straight line, the stairs. Also, the opening times of AED installation sites varied according to the week and the season, the entrance was managed by the apartment management office in a separate place, it needs to be established on this information. In conclusion, it proposed a method to improve spatial equity and accessibility, a method to provide accurate distance and time according to actual movement routes in case of emergency, and a possibility of using each facility considering day and time.

  • The purpose of this study is to summarize the changes in virtual reality utilization in model houses through the time-by-year example of model houses and to study the use and future development of virtual reality technologies in model houses. As a result of compiling and analyzing characteristics of virtual reality utilization flow in model houses of apartments, it is as follows. First, the market for apartment model houses using virtual reality was gradually expanded for the purpose of brand promotion by private construction companies. Second, technologies that utilize virtual reality in apartment sales are changing from virtual space construction to virtual content implementation. Third, it is changing from the existing method of face-to-face and method of accessing actual promotional media to the form of publicizing apartments using virtual reality. Through this research, it is estimated that it will be used as an information medium and a form of experience using physical environment and virtual reality in a physical model house for consumers looking for model houses. This study presents the future direction of the model house, and develops it as a post-sale maintenance / management system through ICT technology (3D scanning, 3D modeling, virtual content) Further research on the technology is expected to be needed.

Mobile Augmented Reality based CFD Simuation Post-Processor (모바일 증강현실 기술을 활용한 유체시뮬레이션 후처리기 연구)

  • The convergence of engineering and IT technology has brought many changes to the industry as well as academic research. In particular, computer simulation technology has evolved to a level that can accurately simulate actual physical phenomena and analyze them in real time. In this paper, we describe the CFD technology, which is mainly used in industry, and the post processor that uses the augmented reality which is emerging as the post-processing. Research on the visualization of fluid simulation results using AR technology is actively being carried out. However, due to the large size of the result data, it is limited to researches that are published in a desktop environment. Therefore, it is limitation that needs to be reviewed in actual space. In this paper, we discuss how to solve these problems. We analyze the fluid analysis results in the post-processing, and then perform optimizing data (more than 70%)to support operation in the mobile environment. In the visualization, lightweight data is used to perform real-time tracking using cloud computing, The analysis result is matched to the screen and visualized. This allows the user to review and analyze the fluid analysis results in an efficient and immersive manner in the various spaces where the simulation is performed.

Storytelling using Hyochang Park's historical middle layer and symbolism (효창공원의 역사적 중층성과 상징성을 이용한 스토리텔링)

  • Hyochang Park was the royal tomb of the Joseon Dynasty, where were the tombs of Prince Munhyo and his birth mother Ui-bin Seong, king Soonjo's concubine Sook-Ui Park and Youngon princess by a concubine. It was upgraded from Hyochang tomb to Hyochangwon at King Gojong. The Japanese imperialism destroyed Hyochangwon and made it into a park, also moved to Seosamneung in 1944. After returning from Chongqing after liberation, Kimgu made the independence movement tomb in the empty space of Hyochang Park. There were 3 martyr's tomb, provisional government figure tomb. Kimgu himself was buried in Hyochang Park after his death in 1949. During the regime of Rhee Seung-man and Park Jeong-hee, there was a constant attempt to change the identity of Hyochang Park, where independence activists were buried. Hyochang Stadium, Wonhyo buddhist priest's Statue and North Korean Anti-Communist Tower were established. After democratization in 1987, the independence activist tomb of Hyochang Park began to gain meaning again. The 6th Republic succeeded the provisional government in the Constitution, also the national cemetery and independent park of Hyochang Park were attempted but the social consensus could not be achieved. This study focuses on the historical middle layer and symbolism of Hyochang Park and aims to contribute to social consensus on the identity of Hyochang Park by making a storytelling on the theme of 'Independence Road'.

Analysis of Borrows Demand for Books in Public Libraries Considering Cultural Characteristics (문화적 특성을 고려한 공공도서관 도서 대출수요 분석 : 대구광역시 시립도서관을 사례로)

  • Public libraries are a space where residents learn a wide range of knowledge and ideologies, and as they are directly connected to life, various related studies have been conducted. In most previous studies, variables such as population, traffic accessibility, and environment were found to be highly relevant to library use. In this study, it can be said that the difference from previous studies is that the book borrow demand and relevance were analyzed by reflecting the variables of cultural characteristics based on the book borrow history (1,820,407 cases) and member information (297,222 persons). As a result of the analysis, it was analyzed that as the increase in borrows for social science and literature books compared to technical science books, the demand for book borrows increased. In addition, various descriptive statistical analyzes were used to analyze the characteristics of library book borrow demand, and policy implications and limitations of the study were also presented based on the analysis results. and considering that cultural characteristics change depending on the location and time of day, it is believed that related research should be continued in the future.

Comparison on Temperature, Humidity and Weight Changes among Different Types of Hive for the Asiatic Honeybee(Apis cerana) (개량형 토종꿀벌 (Apis cerana) 벌통의 유형별 온·습도와 무게변화 비교)

  • The questionnaire survey for Apis cerana beekeepers and professionals on improved native bee hives was carried out and we compared the temperature, relative humidity(RH), and weight changes of 4 improved hives(Chungju, Miryang, Hanam, and Suwon) from May 1, 2019 to January 31, 2020. Beekeepers need vertical feeder, hive stand, entrance block, and separating panel as hive accessory devices. The average temperatures within brood area were kept constantly (31.3~35.1℃) and the low daily variances of temperature (≤1℃) in Chungju hive among tested hives were observed. The daily temperature variances in the separated space and on the top of winter cluster were not different among 4 hives. In correlation between the temperature of brood area and the number of combs, Chungju hive showed the highest correlation(80.4%) and between the temperature on top of winter clusters and outside temperature, 4 hives showed high positive correlation(76.8~87.1%). RH of brood area(45~60%) in all hives were kept relatively low and constant compared to the outside RH(60~85%). The stablest RH on the top of winter cluster was observed in Suwon hives (65~75%) The highest cumulative weight increase among hives and the high positive correlation(65~67%) between the change of cumulative hive weight and combs number of hives were shown in the Miryang and Chungju. Based on these results, A. cerana bees are able to manage constant temperature and RH within hives area for their colony life, which also effected by the types of hive.

Analysis of Collaboration Method Used according to the Characteristics of Each Stage of the Design Process (디자인 과정 단계별 특성에 따라 활용되는 협업 방식 분석)

  • The epidemic of COVID19 caused a big change in design collaboration, which has been conducting using face-to-face interaction. Designers actively used video conferencing and online document tools in situations where face-to-face meetings were difficult, and this gave them an opportunity to experience that non-face-to-face collaboration can be more effective in a specific design process. In this regard, this study attempted to find out which activities during the design process are more compelling in face-to-face collaboration or non-face-to-face collaboration. To do this, three user experience design projects conducted after the COVID19 epidemic were analyzed through a retrospective interview method. As a result, during four design stages, 'Discover, Define, Develop, Deliver', face-to-face collaboration is necessary for the areas that require creative problem solving through active interaction. In contrast, non-face-to-face collaboration is preferred and more effective when designers need their own space and proceed their design work. In addition, the aspects of design tools supporting non-face-to-face collaboration were also illustrated. Findings discovered through this study are expected to contribute to research on the design process later.

A study on the development of virtual reality for disaster prevention in households living with companion animals (반려동물 동거가구의 재난예방을 위한 가상현실 개발 연구)

  • This study is a study on the development of virtual reality to prepare for the increase in disasters of households living with companion animals due to the increase of companion animals. The increase in single-person households and DINKs(Double Income, No Kid) along with the low birth rate and aging population is raising the risk of disasters caused by companion animals in particular. Among these disasters, there is an increase in the occurrence of fires primarily due to the raising of companion animals. Electric stove fires caused by pets are the most common fires. In particular, the frequency of electric stove fires caused by cats is the highest. Careful precautions by the owner are necessary to reduce fires caused by pets. Parenting of companion animals causes pet loss syndrome due to emotional exchange. There are injuries to pets in escalators and injuries to owners in elevators due to disasters caused by the owner's negligence. In order to reduce injuries on escalators and elevators, basic etiquette for using escalators and elevators with pets is required as basic etiquette. It is necessary to utilize virtual reality to reduce disasters caused by such companion animals. Virtual reality can be experienced without a physical space in advance training to overcome disasters, so real disaster cases can be experienced immersively. Therefore, learning how to reduce fires caused by companion animals, disasters caused by owner's negligence, and petloss syndrome through virtual reality will greatly contribute to disaster prevention and reduction of social costs.
