  • The classroom is a learning space where students live mainly in school, and it is the most important space within the entire educational space of the school. Although our educational system has been trying to revise and change the curriculum many times, it still does not provide space for the educational concept of modern society. The impact of the abolished 'school facility standard design' in 1992 is still evident in the design of school facilities at present. Specifically, the uniformity of the educational space, the rigid boundary of the classroom unit, the blockage between the school facility and the outside, and the separation due to the break of the inner and outer spaces. In the future, we need a flexible space that can contain the contents of the future education, and it is necessary to study the composition and type of educational space that can escape uniformity and spatial breakdown. In this paper, we analyze the successful cases of Irvine school facilities and examine the type and composition of classroom space, and it will be a task to find the direction and change of thinking about our educational space.

  • This study has inferred the mechanism of psychological observation activities through comparison analysis of the observation data acquired from eye-tracking and their post-estimation. The results of their analysis can be summarized as the followings. First, even though the frame of analysis has been set up so that there might not be any change to the number of the sections even with any change of consecutive observation times, the fact that the time by area decreases along with the change of consecutive observation from three times to six and nine times means that the time spent on "recognition" of space information reduces in the course that the feature of observing for space information switches from "perception to recognition". Second, the subjects moves their eyes incessantly in order to acquire space information while observing the space, when it was confirmed that there was a difference between "the space which the subjects searched for information by means of observation activities" and "that which they thought they observed that remaining in their consciousness". The appreciation of this kind of difference is very significant for the analysis of observation features. Third, the short observation (0.1 second, three times of consecutive observations) is consistent with "Ares I, intensively searched = that marked as having been observed consciously" by 60%, while the long-time observation (0.3 second, 9 times of consecutive observations) had 56%, which was relatively high, of "Area I, searched intensively ${\neq}$ that marked as having been observed consciously", which means that the observation feature seen at the activities of "consciousness : unconsciousness" and "observation : search" had some change in the course of changing from "perception to recognition".

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to evaluate changes in the pharyngeal airway space and hyoid bone position after mandibular setback surgery with bilateral sagittal split ramus osteotomy (BSSRO) and to analyze the correlation between the amount of mandibular setback and the amount of change in pharyngeal airway space or hyoid bone position. Materials and Methods: From January 2010 to February 2013, a total of 30 patients who were diagnosed with skeletal class III malocclusion and underwent the same surgery (BSSRO) and fixation method in the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Department of Dentistry at the Ajou University School of Medicine (Suwon, Korea) were included in this study. Lateral cephalograms of the 30 patients were assessed preoperatively (T1), immediately postoperatively (T2), and 6 months postoperatively (T3) to investigate the significance of changes by time and the correlation between the amount of mandibular setback and the amount of change in the airway space and hyoid bone position. Results: Three regions of the nasopharynx, oropharynx, and hypopharynx were measured and only the oropharynx showed a statistically significant decrease (P<0.01). A significant posterior and inferior displacement of the hyoid bone was found 6 months after surgery (P<0.01). Analysis of the correlation between the amount of mandibular setback and the amount of final change in the airway space and hyoid bone position with Pearson's correlation showed no significant correlation. Conclusion: In this study, the oropharynx significantly decreased after mandibular setback surgery, and changes in the surrounding structures were identified through posteroinferior movement of the hyoid bone during long-term follow-up. Therefore, postoperative obstructive sleep apnea should be considered in patients who plan to undergo mandibular setback surgery, and necessary modifications to the treatment plan should also be considered.

  • In this research, the change of coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) of graphite/epoxy composite laminate under space environment was measured using fiber optic sensors. Two fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensors have been adopted for the simultaneous measurement of thermal strain and temperature. Low Earth Orbit (LEO) conditions with high vacuum, ultraviolet and thermal cycling environments were simulated in a thermal vacuum chamber. As a pre-test, a FBG temperature sensor was calibrated and a FBG strain sensor was verified through the comparison with the electric strain gauge (ESG) attached on an aluminun specimen at high and low temperature respectively. The change of the CTE in a composite laminate exposed to space environment was measured for intervals of aging cycles in real time. As a whole, there was no abrupt change of the CTE after 1000 aging cycles. After aging, however, the CTE decreased a Little all over the test temperature range. These changes are caused by outgassing, moisture desorption, matrix cracking etc.

  • The purpose of this study was analyzing the Transforming Characteristics of the Entrance of Privately-built Apartment housing in Daegu from the 1970s to the 2000s. First of all, this study made an investigation into the general situation of Privately-built Apartment housing and the general idea of the Entrance. Through a field study, This study was analyzing change of an era of entrance of Apartment housing till quite recently existing in Daegu. The results are as the body III follows. Results of the research through change of an era is as follows. The change tendency is not to be big before 2003, but It has under gone change after 2003. Studies show that It is the care for the old and the weak, to take interest in natural lighting, to be going to change from passing the time of space to staying space and more space, to show interest in the preservation of public peace and design. So, The Entrance of Apartment housing has a bias towards more elegant. This research look forward to having an intention of furnishing preliminary data for a residence environment of high quality.

  • Recently, the space organization of Korean-Chinese houses is different from that of other territories. The characteristics of eating and dinning space for Korean-Chinese Multi-family Housing are as follows ; ⅰ) The most obvious change in Korean-Chinese urban housing style was seen in kitchen space, which can be classify three types such as traditional type, improved type, and LDK type on the bases of heating and cooking method. ⅱ) Special feature of Korean-Chinese housing in Yanji city was that kitchen fulfilled important functions such as heating, cooking, dinning, sleeping, bathing and washing. Since then, each function was separated and functions of kitchen were cut down after all. iii) The arrangement of kitchen space have changeed according to the change of heating fuel, heating system, equipment, relatcd policy, etx. Multi-function kitchen discovered only in Yanji had lasted until 1980's by equipping heating floor system, which is suitable for sit-down living style. In 1990's, this kitchen style was prohibited legally, and the balcony area of kitchen widened due to the abolition of outdoor storehouse for foodstuff.

  • The aims of this research are to find the difference of space origination between Korean-Chinese and Chinese multi-family housing unit plan and to find the main reason to make this difference. To do this research, twenty three different kinds of floor plans were surveyed and examined. The results are as follows; 1. The Chinese-Korean floor plan and Chinese floor plan in Ondol heating system are totally different, although in radiator and floor panel heating system are similar. The inner space origination between two races are different. That is to say, Chinese-Korean likes open space origination and Chinese likes closed space origination. 2. The main reasons to make differences seem to be living style, heating system, constructional method and the trade with South Korea. In the future time, the usage of floor panel heating system will be increased and various kinds of floor plan should be introduced.
