  • Existing symmetric cryptography-based solutions against pollution attacks for network coding systems suffer various drawbacks, such as highly complicated key distribution and vulnerable security against collusion. This letter presents a novel homomorphic subspace message authentication code (MAC) scheme that can thwart pollution attacks in an efficient way. The basic idea is to exploit the combination of the symmetric cryptography and linear subspace properties of network coding. The proposed scheme can tolerate the compromise of up to r-1 intermediate nodes when r source keys are used. Compared to previous MAC solutions, less secret keys are needed for the source and only one secret key is distributed to each intermediate node.

  • Trade rules in service and digital sectors mainly focus on reducing regulatory uncertainties by improving transparency and minimizing unnecessary requirements. Recognizing the importance of digital trade rules and trade in information and communication technology (ICT) sectors, governments worldwide have rapidly adopted and expanded rules on free flow of data, personal data protection, electronic authentication, and cybersecurity. On the other hand, advances in technology have led governments to face multiple threats related to cybersecurity, intellectual property (including that related to source code and algorithms), and unauthorized access to proprietary information of their suppliers. This study presents digital trade rules related to digital security emphasizing cybersecurity, source code, and ICT products that use cryptography in different trade agreements. Additionally, it introduces various approaches that major countries are taking to both address digital security issues and seek balance between security enhancement and trade liberalization.

  • Because hyperspectral imaging provides detailed spectral information across a broad range of wavelengths, it can be utilized in numerous applications, including environmental monitoring, food quality inspection, medical diagnosis, material identification, art authentication, and crime scene analysis. However, hyperspectral images often contain various types of distortions due to the environmental conditions during image acquisition, which necessitates the proper removal of these distortions through a data preprocessing process. In this study, a preprocessing method was investigated to effectively correct the distortion caused by artificial light sources used in indoor hyperspectral imaging. For this purpose, a halogen-tungsten artificial light source was installed indoors, and hyperspectral images were acquired. The acquired images were then corrected for distortion using a preprocessing that does not require complex auxiliary equipment. After the corrections were made, the results were analyzed. According to the analysis, a statistical transformation technique using mean and standard deviation with reference to a reference signal was found to be the most effective in correcting distortions caused by artificial light sources.

  • Secured and reliable routing is a crucial factor for improving the performance of Wireless Mesh Networks (WMN) since these networks are susceptible to many types of attacks. The existing assumption about the internal nodes in wireless mesh networks is that they cooperate well during the forwarding of packets all the time. However, it is not always true due to the presence of malicious and mistrustful nodes. Hence, it is essential to establish a secure, reliable and stable route between a source node and a destination node in WMN. In this paper, a trust based secure routing algorithm is proposed for enhancing security and reliability of WMN, which contains cross layer and subject logic based reliable reputation scheme with security tag model for providing effective secured routing. This model uses only the trusted nodes with the forwarding reliability of data transmission and it isolates the malicious nodes from the providing path. Moreover, every node in this model is assigned with a security tag that is used for efficient authentication. Thus, by combining authentication, trust and subject logic, the proposed approach is capable of choosing the trusted nodes effectively to participate in forwarding the packets of trustful peer nodes successfully. The simulation results obtained from this work show that the proposed routing protocol provides optimal network performance in terms of security and packet delivery ratio.

  • Self-recovery is a tamper-detection and image recovery methods based on data hiding. It generates two types of data and embeds them into the original image: authentication data for tamper detection and reference data for image recovery. In this paper, a region-based scalable self-recovery (RSS) method is proposed for salient-object images. As the images consist of two main regions, the region of interest (ROI) and the region of non-interest (RONI), the proposed method is aimed at achieving higher reconstruction quality for the ROI. Moreover, tamper tolerability is improved by using scalable recovery. In the RSS method, separate reference data are generated for the ROI and RONI. Initially, two compressed bitstreams at different rates are generated using the embedded zero-block coding source encoder. Subsequently, each bitstream is divided into several parts, which are protected through various redundancy rates, using the Reed-Solomon channel encoder. The proposed method is tested on 10 000 salient-object images from the MSRA database. The results show that the RSS method, compared to related methods, improves reconstruction quality and tamper tolerability by approximately 30% and 15%, respectively.

  • This paper proposes an ETWAD(Encapsulation and Tunneling Wormhole Attack Detection) design based on positional information and hop count on Ad-Hoc Network. The ETWAD technique is designed for generating GAK(Group Authentication Key) to ascertain the node ID and group key within Ad-hoc Network and authenticating a member of Ad-hoc Network by appending it to RREQ and RREP. In addition, A GeoWAD algorithm detecting Encapsulation and Tunneling Wormhole Attack by using a hop count about the number of Hops within RREP message and a critical value about the distance between a source node S and a destination node D is also presented in ETWAD technique. Therefore, as this paper is estimated as the average probability of Wormhole Attack detection 91%and average FPR 4.4%, it improves the reliability and probability of Wormhole Attack Detection.

  • As the information age enters, the use of biometrics using the body is gradually increasing because it is very important to accurately recognize and authenticate each individual's identity for information protection. Among them, finger vein authentication technology is receiving a lot of attention because it is difficult to forge and demodulate, so it has high security, high precision, and easy user acceptance. However, the accuracy may be degraded depending on the algorithm for identification or the surrounding light environment. In this paper, we designed and manufactured a side-type finger vein recognizer that is highly versatile among finger vein measuring devices, and authenticated using the deep learning model of DenseNet-201 for high accuracy and recognition rate. The performance of finger vein authentication technology according to the influence of the infrared light source used and the surrounding visible light was analyzed through simulation. The simulations used data from MMCBNU_6000 of Jeonbuk National University and finger vein images taken directly were used, and the performance were compared and analyzed using the EER.

  • With the OTT media market growing rapidly, the significance of trustworthy data verification and certification cannot be emphasized enough. This study delves into the crucial need for such measures in South Korea, exploring the steps involved, the technological and policy-related considerations, and the challenges that may arise once these measures are put into place. Drawing on in-depth interviews and the analytical hierarchy process (AHP), this study surveyed various stakeholder groups, both directly and indirectly related to OTT data authentication and certification. By assessing the severity of OTT data-related issues and identifying the requirements for reliability-improvement policies, participants shared their valuable insights and opinions on this pressing matter. The survey results clearly indicate a divided opinion among stakeholders and industry experts on the reliability of OTT data, with some expressing trust while others remain skeptical. However, there was a consensus that advertising-based AVOD is more reliable than SVOD. By analyzing the priorities of authentication and verification, this study paves the way for the establishment and operation of a Korean MRC (KMRC), centered on the OTT media industry. The KMRC will serve as a vital platform for ensuring the authenticity and accuracy of OTT data in South Korea, providing businesses and industry players with a reliable source of information for informed decision-making. This study highlights the pressing need for reliable data authentication and certification in the rapidly growing OTT media market, and provides a persuasive case for the establishment of a KMRC in South Korea to meet this critical need.

  • This paper proposes a secure data forwarding scheme on source routing-based ad-hoc networks. The scheme uses two hash-key chains generated from a trusted third party to generate Message Authentication Codes for data integrity The selected MAC keys are delivered to the ad-hoc node using a pre-shared secret between the trusted third party and a node. The proposed scheme does not require the PKI, or the provisioning of the pre-shared secrets among the ad-hoc nodes.
