  • The objective of this study is to experimentally investigate the cooling performance characteristics with the consideration of the temperature variations of the enclosure of the 400W ferrofluid active speaker having both woofer and amplifier heat sinks. In order to do this, the heat sinks for both woofer and amplifier was designed ant applied to 400W ferrofluid active speaker. As a result, the cooling performance of the developed 400W ferrofluid active speaker was improved and the temperature of the enclosure after 120 min at steady state increased by $2.8^{\circ}C$ with the increase of the outdoor temperatures from $25^{\circ}C$ to $29^{\circ}C$. In addition, the overall sound pressure level of the developed 400W ferrofluid active speaker showed 111.8 dB and improved 1.9 dB higher than 109.9 dB of the existed speaker.

  • In thes paper, the soung signals due to the collisions against the inside wall by conductint particles with in coaxial cylindrical electrodes, and the corresponding frequency spectrum are analyzed and discribed.Thesesound signals were detected and measured using ultrasonic and vibration sensors attached to the exterior of the GIS enclosure. In the case where a particls is bouncing about between these coaxoal electrodes, the sound signal was found to be more than 10[dB] greater than the background noise due to no particlel. Also, in the case where a particle collides and insulation breakdown caesed by the particle made it possible to determine the condition of the insulation inside the sealed GIS. Lastly, the relationship between the peak amplitude and RMS voltage of the measured signal, the diameter and length of the particle was analyzed. Using thes analysis, it is possible to confirm the size of particle.

  • According to the increase of power demand and expansion of downtown, it is necessary to install transformers additionally in operating substations and construct substations in residential area. But the public complaint has been increased due to the transformer noise of the substation. KEPCO has used a vibration preventing pad, various soundproof walls and an enclosure to transformers in outdoor substations, and a soundproof door, shutter and wind-path soundproof equipment in indoor substations to block the sound propagation from the transformers. But these noise reduction methods are not satisfied. It should be considered to reduce transformer noise itself. To shut out sound emitted from transformers, we developed a soundproof technology that wall up reinforcing bar by steel sheet. For the practical application of it, we analyzed the vibration characteristics of a transformer tank and reduction of noise according to soundproof plate. As a result, it is confirmed that the technology can reduce 11 [dB] of transformer noise.

  • Enclosures are widely used to alleviate the contribution of machinery noise. It has been long concerned with the noise transmission through the access openings of the enclosures. In this study, we investigate active noise control technology for reduction of the transmission. A numerical model based on the acoustic boundary element method is first established. Using the numerical model, the acoustic transfer functions of the field points over the opening to the primary source at arbitrary locations are estimated. The feedforward control to minimize the acoustic power through the opening is then numerically implemented. The controller drives the secondary source to destructively interfere the noise transmission through the opening. Finally, a parametric study is conducted to evaluate the effects of the location and the number of the microphones on the control performance. Furthermore, the effects of the location of the secondary source on the performance of active noise control are investigated. It is followed that the control system implemented in this study leads to a significant reduction of about 31.5 dB in the sound power through the opening using only one secondary source located at the optimized position.

  • Many poeple has been engaged in industry is aware of the dangers from exposure to high intensity nose levels. The exposure to high intensity noise is encountered in a large number of situations. Laws governing the safety and health of employed people being to create a suitable working environment and eliminate unsafety practices and processes. Work areas should be designed and laid out so that they are satisfactory both from the environmental and safety points of view. In this connection safety also implies that noise is kept at a level which is not likety to cause hearing damage. This study was performed to measure the noise of press and assembly process in an automobile factory. and suggested the method of noise control. Consequently the effect ways of reducing level in working environment are as follows; 1. Changes to machines which would reduce noise generation. 2. Alteration of equipment to avoid impact in machinery and handing materials. 3. Enclosure of noisy machines or machine parts. 4. Mounting of attenuators on gas and air outlets as well as ventilation ducts. 5. Erection of sound absorbing screens. linings. and baffles in work areas. 6. The personal ear protectors can be chosen to protect the workers.

  • Acoustic design parameters of a half-wave resonator are studied experimentally for acoustic stability in a model chamber. According to the standard acoustic-test procedures, acoustic-pressure signals are measured. Quantitative acoustic properties of damping factor and sound absorption coefficient are evaluated and thereby, the acoustic-damping capacity of the resonator is examined. The diameter and the number of a half-wave resonator, its distribution, and the diameter of an enclosure are selected as the design parameters for optimal tuning of the resonator. Aroustic-damping capacity of the resonator increases with its diameter. When the open-area ratio of the resonator exceeds the optimum value, over-damping appears, leading to the decrease in the peak absorption coefficient and the broadening of absorption bandwidth. As the resonator diameter increases, optimum open-area ratio decreases.

  • Being carried out a number of studies for the resilient mounting system of automobile engine than that of the studies for marine engines, many research results for the case of the resilient mounting system of the automobile engine have applied in the analysis for the case of marine engine. However, the size and the power of automobile engines are not only relatively small but also their operating conditions are quite different form those of marine engines. For the analysis of the automobile engine Wavelet shrinkage, misfire condition and unload condition have not been considered. Accordingly , it is not desirable to apply the results obtained form the case of automobile engines to the case of marine engines. In this study , exciting and damping forces working on the marine engine are formulated mathematically in order to apply to the design of a resilient mounting system of engine effectively. futhermore, some mathematical formulation for the analysis of the transmissibility of multi-body system are proposed. A new computer program which is able to calculate the free vibration, the transmissibility and the forced vibration of a resilient mounting system has been developed, As an application of this developed computer program, the dynamic behavior of resilient system with an actual rubber spring for the case of 6-degree-of-freedom system and 36-degree-of-freedom system are evaluated quantitatively.

  • Underwater explosion shock response analysis of a nonlinear double resiliently mounted equipment on a MIL-S-901D Large floating Shock Platform(LFSP) was carried out using LS-DYNA3D/USA. As a nonlinear double resiliently mounted equipment, real main engine module of naval ship was considered, where the engine, bearing, and base frame including sound enclosure were treated as rigid bodies with six degrees of freedom. The nonlinear effects of resilient mounts on its shock response characteristics were examined, and the usefulness of our suggested method was also confirmed comparing with calculation results by the equipment maker.

  • In this study, the property and the structure of micro-speaker had been firstly shown to be treated as a ducted speaker-system, which was consisted of the unit and the ducted enclosure. With the decrease of total hole area. the resonance frequency of micro-speaker was decreased due to increasing the stiffness or reducing the compliance. The behavior of resonance frequency relative to the total hole area was exactly agreed with that of the square root of compliance. With decreasing the total hole area. the effective chamber volume was increased, but the reference sound pressure level was exponentially reduced in the low and middle frequency range.
