웨지가 있는 원심 임펠러의 유동장 및 방사 음향장 해석(II) -원심홴의 산란 음향장 예측- (An Analysis of the Flow Field and Radiation Acoustic Field of Centrifugal Fan with Wedge -The Prediction of the Scattered Sound Field-)

  • The objective of this study is to understand the generation mechanism of sound and to develop a prediction method for the acoustic pressure field of a centrifugal fan. If the fan is operating at the free field without the casing, the acoustic analogy is a good method to predict the acoustic of the fan. But, the casing gives a dominant effect to the radiated sound field and the scattering effect of casing should be considered. So, in this paper the Kirchhoff-BEM is developed, which can consider the scattering effect of the rigid body. In order to consider the scattering and diffraction effects owing to the casing, BEM is introduced. The source of BEM is newly developed, so the sound field of the centrifugal fan can be obtained. In order to compare the predicted one with experimental data, a centrifugal impeller and a wedge are used in the numerical calculation and the results are compared with the experimental data. Reasonable results are obtained not only for the peak frequencies but also for the amplitudes of the tonal sound. The radiated acoustic field shows the diffraction and scattering effects of the wedge clearly.

가려진 마이크로폰을 이용한 음원 위치 추적 (Sound Source Localization using Acoustically Shadowed Microphones)

  • In many practical applications of robots, finding the location of an incoming sound is an important issue for the development of efficient human robot interface. Most sound source localization algorithms make use of only those microphones that are acoustically visible from the sound source or do not take into account the effect of sound diffraction, thereby degrading the sound source localization performance. This paper proposes a new sound source localization method that can utilize those microphones that are acoustically shadowed from the sound source. The experiment results show that use of the acoustically shadowed microphones, which receive higher signal-to-noise ratio signals than the others and are closer to the sound source, improves the performance of sound source localization.

Low Power DSP Implementation of 3D Sound Localization

  • This paper describes a DSP implementation of a real-time 3D sound localization algorithm with the use of a low power embedded DSP. A distinctive feature of this implementation is that the audible frequency band is divided into three, in accordance with the sound reflection and diffraction phenomena through different media from a certain sound source to human ears, and then in each subband a specific implementation procedure of the 3D sound localization is devised so as to operate real-time at a low frequency of 50MHz on a 16bit fixed-point DSP. Thus out DSP implementation can provide a listener with 3D sound effects through a headphone at low cost and low power consumption.

GPGPU에 의한 음장의 가시화에 관한 연구 (A study on the visualization of the sound field by using GPGPU)

  • 본 연구에서는 음파전달의 가시화를 위해 고속 연산장치인 GPU(Graphics Processing Unit)를 이용하여 실시간 처리를 하였으며 이산 호이겐스 모델법을 사용하여 시뮬레이션 하였다. 실시간 처리와 2차원 가상 음장내의 반사물이나 음원의 상태를 변경하여 실재 음장과 같은 음파전달의 가시화를 하였다. 그 결과, 음파가 반사물에 의해 반사되는 형태나 반사물에서 회절하는 형태가 확인되었다.

Rayleigh′s Acoustical Research on the Fog Signal

  • In 1896, Rayleigh was appointed as Scientific Advisor of the Trinity House. Rayleigh applied his knowledge of sound to developing effective fog signals during his IS-year tenure at the maritime organization. Rayleigh's expertise on acoustics met an appropriate field for its application during his improvement of the fog signal for the institution. Rayleigh's activities at the Trinity House were motivated by his desire to make contribution to the public. During his research on the fog signal, Rayleigh effectively employed his expertise acquired through his mathematical and experimental research on sound and vibration since the 1860s. Rayleigh developed effective horns for emitting fog signals and proposed various ways of overcoming the weaknesses of sound signals available at that time. While attempting to solve the problem of the attenuation of sound signals disseminating through the air, Rayleigh put foundations of atmospheric acoustics by developing new scientific theories about it.

  • The insertion loss of a noise barrier comes from the effects of diffraction, transmission loss, absorption coefficient and attenuation by direct propagation. The noise level after the noise barrier, differs reatly from the diffraction on the upper part of the barrier. Maekawa, furze and Anderson presented a empirical formula for calculating the diffraction of a semi infinte screen shaped noise barrier. In this syudy, Noise reduction performance software was developed for the proper design and assessment of new plastic barrier . Predicted sound pressure level from using the software is compared with the site-measurement results to verify the noise reduction performance and feasibility of prediction software for insertion loss of noise barrier.

Reduced Raytracing Approach for Handling Sound Map with Multiple Sound Sources, Wind Advection and Temperature

  • 본 논문에서는 기하학 기반의 사운드 생성 기법을 활용하여 1)다중 음원, 2)바람의 이류와 3)온도에 따른 상호작용을 효율적으로 처리할 수 있는 방법을 제시한다. 최근에 절감된 광선추적법(Reduced raytracing) 기반으로 사운드(Sound) 위치를 업데이트하고 많은 레이(Ray)의 재귀적인 반사/굴절 없이 사운드 전파와 회절을 효율적으로 계산하는 방법이 제안되었지만, 이 접근법은 사운드의 전파 특징만을 고려했지 다중 음원, 바람의 이류와 온도에 따른 상호작용은 고려하지 못했다. 이러한 한계는 정적인 사운드만 생성하기 때문에, 다양한 가상환경에서 사운드를 통한 장면 제작을 어렵게 만든다. 본 논문에서는 여러 개의 사운드가 배치된 상황에서 사운드 맵을 효율적으로 구성할 수 있는 방법과 이것을 통해 효율적으로 에이전트의 움직임을 제어할 수 있는 방법을 제시한다. 뿐만 아니라 바람의 이류와 온도를 고려하여 사운드 전파를 제어를 할 수 있는 방법을 제안한다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 방법은 사운드를 기반으로 콘테츠 몰입을 개선시킬 수 있는 게임뿐만 아니라 메타버스 환경 디자인, 군중 시뮬레이션 등 다양한 분야에서 활용이 가능하다.

인간의 청각 시스템을 응용한 음원위치 추정에 관한 연구 (A study imitating human auditory system for tracking the position of sound source)

  • To acquire an appointed speaker's clear voice signal from inspect-camera, picture-conference or hands free microphone eliminating interference noises needs to be preceded speaker's position automatically. Presumption of sound source position's basic algorithm is about measuring TDOA(Time Difference Of Arrival) from reaching same signals between two microphones. This main project uses ADF(Adaptive Delay Filter) [4] and CPS(Cross Power Spectrum) [5] which are one of the most important analysis of TDOA. From these analysis this project proposes presumption of real time sound source position and improved model NI-ADF which makes possible to presume both directions of sound source position. NI-ADF noticed that if auditory sense of humankind reaches above to some specified level in specified frequency, it will accept sound through activated nerve. NI-ADF also proposes practicable algorithm, the presumption of real time sound source position including both directions, that when microphone loads to some specified system, it will use sounds level difference from external system related to sounds of diffraction phenomenon. In accordance with the project, when existing both direction adaptation filter's algorithm measures sound source, it increases more than twice number by measuring one way. Preserving this weak point, this project proposes improved algorithm to presume real time in both directions.

Sound Damping of a Polyurethane Foam Nanocomposite

  • To improve the sound damping effect of flexible polyurethane foam, with an open-cell structure, various plate-like fillers, such as bentonite, organophilic clay and sodium montmorillonite intercalated with poly(ethylene glycol), were incorporated for the creation of nanocomposites. The plate-like fillers effectively improved the sound damping within the high frequency range. The structures of the nanocomposites and foam were examined using X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. The mechanical properties and flammability of the foams were also examined.
