In this study examines physical and mechanical properties the use of domestic low grade meta-kaolin in light weight porous concrete. For this purpose light weight porous concrete incorporating low grade meta-kaolin admixture, was tested for tensile strength and acoustic characteristics. Checking tensile strength of cement and low grade meta-kaolin mixture was used to determine the optimum mix proportion of the low grade meta-kaolin admixture. In this paper sound absorbing material has been investigated by using the light weight porous concrete.
Metallic foam has been known as a functional material which can be used for absorption properties of energy and sound. The unique characteristics of Al foam of mechanical, acoustic, thermal properties depend on density, cell size distribution and cell size, and these characteristics expected to apply industry field. Al-Zn-Mg-Cu alloy foams was fabricated by following process; firstly melting the Al alloy, thickening process of addition of Ca granule to increased of viscosity, foaming process of addition of titanium hydride powder to make the pores, holding in the furnace to form of cooling down to the room temperature. Metal foams with various porosity level were manufactured by change the foaming temperature. Compressive strength of the Al alloy foams was 2 times higher at 88% porosity and 1.2 times higher at 92% porosity than pure Al foams. It's sound and vibration absorption coefficient were higher than pure Al foams and with increasing porosity.

Generally, noise from a home appliance has been measured by overall sound pressure level or sound power level, dB. Customers evaluation, however, of this noise should be depend on the only overall level but also the sensory feeling, annoyance, unpleasure and so on. Moreover, in this sensory evaluation, irregular, time-varying and uneven sounds which are difficult to describe itself by overall level are more affectable. Unfortunately however the formal evaluation method for this kinds of noise is not determined yet. In this research, the evaluation method for harmonic noise, which is a major noise from home appliance and one of the unmeasurable sounds by overall level, is proposed to evaluate its acceptability based on the consumer's sense of hearing. The proposed approach could be applied to the other sound, which acoustical characteristics are similar to the tonal noise.
In this research, an alumino-borosilicate foamed glass with sound absorption property was prepared using the waste borosilicate glass obtained from the recycling process of waste liquid crystal display (LCD) panel. A 100 g of pulverized waste borosilicate glass with the particle size of under 325 mesh, was mixed with 0.3 g (wt/wt) of graphite, each 1.5 g (wt/wt) of $Na_2CO_3$, $Na_2SO_4$ and $CaCO_3$ as a foaming agent, and 6.0 g (wt/wt) of $H_3BO_3$ and 3.0 g (wt/wt) of $Al_2O_3$ as a pore control agent. Following mixture was under the foaming process for 20 minutes at a foaming temperature of $950^{\circ}C$. The result yielded the foaming agent with 45% of the opened porosity and 0.5-0.7 of the sound absorbing coefficient. This alumino-borosilicate foamed glass with the sound absorption property showed excellent physical and mechanical properties such as density of $0.21g/cm^3$, bending strength of $55N/cm^2$ and compression strength of $298N/cm^2$ which can be ideally used as sound absorption materials with heat-resisting and chemical-resisting property.
The purpose of this study was to analyze elementary school teachers' understanding, certainty, and familiarity with 13 key concepts of wave physics that are presented in textbook and teacher's guidebook. 123 elementary school teachers answered concept tests and questionnaires. In the results to these tests and questionnaires, teachers demonstrated a high level of understanding and high certainty in understanding with regard to the concepts of sound generation, effect of medium on wave, timbre, wavelength, and trough and crest of wave. For the topics of sound velocity, wave reflection and wave transmission, teachers demonstrated a high level of understanding but low certainty in understanding. With regard to sound propagation, teachers demonstrated a low level of understanding and an improperly high certainty in that low understanding. Teachers lacked knowledge, i.e., displayed a low level of understanding and low certainty in sound strength, sound frequency, constructive interference and destructive interference. In constructive and destructive interference, the teachers also displayed a low level of familiarity. We analyzed the differences in teacher's understanding, certainty, and familiarity according to teacher demographics defined by the teacher's gender, teaching experience with concepts of sound, career, curriculum track while in high school, and major in university. There were no significant differences in understanding, certainty, or familiarity as defined by gender, teaching experience, and career. However, these displays of knowledge were affected by the teacher's curriculum track in high school and their major. These results suggest that the teacher's understanding of, familiarity with, and certainty in wave physics concepts are more influenced by their learning experience than by their teaching experience. Therefore, we suggest additional learning opportunities for teachers (such as teacher training programs) in order to improve teacher knowledge and correct teacher misconceptions in wave physics.

The acoustical response of fish depends on size and physical structure na, most important, on the presence or absence of a swimbladder. Acoustic scattering models for swimbladdered fish represent a fish by an ideal pressure-release surface having the size and shape as the swimbladder. Target strength experiments of red seabream (Chrysophrys major) have been conducted using 38 (split-beam), 120 (split-beam) and 200kHz (dual-beam) frequencies. At each start of each experiment, the live fish are placed in the cage at the surface, then the cage is lowed to about $4{\cal}m$ depth where it remains during the measurements. To test the acoustic models, predictions of target strength based on swimbladder morphometries of 10 red seabream offish total length from $103{\cal}mm{\;}to{\;}349{\cal}mm$ ($3 <$TL/\lambda$ < 45)are compared with conventional target strength measurements on the same, shock-frozen immediately after caged experiments. X-ray was projected along dorsal aspect to know the morphological construction of swimbladder. and fish body. At high frequencies, Helmholtz-kirchhoff(HK) approximation would greatly enhance swimbladdered fish modeling. Sound scattering model [HK-ray approximation model] for comparison to experimental target strength data was used to model backscatter measurements from individual fish. The scattering data can be used in the inverse method along with multiple frequency sonar systems to investigate the adequacy of classification and identification of fish
The preparation of porous lightweight materials as well as the measurement of physical properties has been performed by using SSA(sewage sludge ash) as the raw material. For this aim, two types of lightweight filler, that is, perlite and silica sphere were employed respectively and bentonite was also used as an inorganic binder. The properties of lightweight specimen calcined at 1,000 were measured in terms of density, compressive strength, thermal conductivity and sound absorption to examine the effect of material composition as well as the preparation condition on the properties of lightweight material. As a result, the density of specimen prepared with perlite was ranged from 1.23 to $1.37g/cm^3$ and the compressive strength was ranged from 242.3 to $370.5kg/cm^2$. In case of specimen prepared with silica sphere, it was found that the compressive strength was less than $100kg/cm^2$ even though density was lower than that of specimen with perlite. As far as the thermal conductivity of specimen was concerned, it was ranged from 0.3 to $0.5W/m^{\circ}K$ depending on material composition so that the insulation effect was superior to conventional concrete.

In this paper, a longitudinal die insert fracture which occurred during cold forging of a high strength ball-stud with a sound die design nearly optimized empirically for relatively low strength material of SCM435 is introduced and the reason is revealed. A comparative study between SCM435 and ESW105 is quantitatively made using a thermoelastic finite element method for die structural analysis coupled with a forging simulator theoretically based on a rigid-plastic finite element method. It has been shown that the longitudinal die insert fracture caused from non-optimized value of shrink fit, emphasizing that the die optimal design is inevitable for cold forging of high strength materials.
This study was carried out to investigate sound sensation of Korean traditional silk fabrics with similar sound pressure levels (SPL) and to identify secondary physical factors excluding SPL which determine sound sensation of the fabrics. Sounds of the silk fabrics tended to be perceived differently from one another as for some of sensation such as clearness ant roughness. They were felt more strongly in aspects of loudness, roughness, and highness than of softness, sharpness, clearness, and pleasantness. Subjective clearness, roughness, and highness were significantly correlated with some of sound parameters including roughness(z), ${\Delta}L,\;and\;{\Delta}f$. Especially, both of clearness and roughness which were varied among the fabrics were found as determined by ${\Delta}L$. This result means that ${\Delta}L$ as well as roughness(z) and ${\Delta}f$ could be utilized secondary to SPL in order to satisfy some of human sensibility for sound from traditional silk fabrics without variation of physical loudness.
In this study, the effects of the pouring temperature, preheating temperature, surface condition and fraction of the wear resistant part on the production of duo-castings were investigated using a high Cr white cast iron with excellent abrasion resistance and a low Cr alloy steel with good toughness. The constituent materials of the duo-castings were designed to have high hardness, fracture toughness and abrasive wear resistance for the replacement of high Mn alloy steels with low abrasive wear resistance. In particular, the amount of abrasive wear of 17% Cr white cast iron was about 1/20 of that of high Mn alloy steel. There was an intermediate area of about 3mm due to local melting at the bonding interface of the duo-castings. These intermediate regions were different from those of the constituent materials in chemical composition and microstructure. This region led to fracture within the wear resistant part rather than at the bonding interface in the bending strength test. The bending fracture strengths were 516-824 MPa, which were equivalent to the bending proof strength of high Mn steel. The effects of various casting conditions on the duo-cast behavior were studied by simple pouring of low Cr alloy steel melt, but the results proved practically impossible to manufacture duo-castings with a sound bonding interface. However, the external heating method was suitable for the production of duo-castings with a sound bonding interface.
