Fusion of Sonar and Laser Sensor for Mobile Robot Environment Recognition

  • A sensor fusion scheme for mobile robot environment recognition that incorporates range data and contour data is proposed. Ultrasonic sensor provides coarse spatial description but guarantees open space with no obstacle within sonic cone with relatively high belief. Laser structured light system provides detailed contour description of environment but prone to light noise and is easily affected by surface reflectivity. Overall fusion process is composed of two stages: Noise elimination and belief updates. Dempster Shafer´s evidential reasoning is applied at each stage.   • Reactor vessel is one of the most important equipment with regard to the safety of nuclear power plant. Thus nuclear regulation requires its periodical examination by certified inspection experts. Conventional reactor inspection machines are obsolete, hard to handle, and very expensive. To solve these problems we developed robotic reactor vessel inspection system which are small, easy to use for inspection, cost effective, and convenient in operation. This paper describes the main features of Main Control System which is one part of robotic inspection equipment we developed.

  • 섬유산업에 초음파의 이용은 극히 새로운 것이 아니며, 초음파를 이용하여 시간단축과 공정개선 등에 관한 많은 문헌들도 있다. 게다가 세정과 기계분야, 안정된 분산용액의 제조에 두드러지게 활용되고 있는 기술이며, 다른 새로운 분야로도 연구확대되고 있다. 주로 세정조에 구성되어 있는 초음파발생자치는 세정효율을 높이기 때문에 응용확대가 기대된다. 특별한 장치가 필요없기 때문에 음화학반응에서 관심이 모아지고 있다. 초음파는 이제 광범위한 습식공정에 영향을 미치는 기술로 이해되고 있다. 이 자료는 이미 연구된 결과를 재조명하고 초음파를 이용하므로서 얻을 수 있는 이점에 대해서 어떤 것이 있는지에 대해 살펴보고자 한다.

  • The elastic moduli and dissolution rates of 15 glasses with different mole ratios of sodium-magnasium-phosphate as potential non-toxic biomaterials were investigated. In this study, a 3-pint bending test, sonic resonance technique, and theoretical calculation were used to evaluate the modulus of elasticity. The dissolution rates at 37$^{\circ}C$(human body temperature) were determined by the measurement of mass changes in each sample for 24 weeks.

  • We design Collision Avoidance System using model vehicle. The purpose of this system(Collision Avoidance System) is to maintain continuously constant distance between a forward running vehicle and a following automatic guided vehicle(AGV). For this system, we design modeling of vehicle and observe this through simulation. By sing super sonic sensors to measure the distance between vehicles and controller using 80c196kc for changing velocity of motor, we design Collision Avoidance System as maintaining continuously constant distance between vehicles.

  • SONICS is the software developed by authors. The program provides the noise level in outdoors due to various noise source types : construction machines including blast sources, railroad vehicles and automobiles. It operates in the Windows system. Since the software is compiled by using Visual C++ 4.0, users can un the program interactively. Also SONICS uses Windows dialog-box and choice-button so that a novice user can easily implement the program for the enviromental noise planning.

  • This study developed a design to estimate the location of rescue demander using the sound system at disaster site, in the conditions of indoor positioning cannot be performed properly. It is a location tracing system through smart phone application. It generates sound wave information of rescuer at the rescue site, and it can be used as assistant means for indoor location tracing at the disaster site using sound wave receiving measurement technology.
