The drag reduction agency (DRA) for gas pipeline, a novel method used for reducing friction or drag on a gas flowing to increase the transmission efficiency of gas pipeline, is a more flexible and economical technology than internal flow efficient coatings. In this paper, an effective DRA has been developed in Authors' Institute by analyzing the hydrodynamic friction resistance on internal gas pipeline and then studying the work mechanism and molecular structure of DRA. In the meantime, a group of property test for selecting DRA material has been determined, including viscosity, contact angle, volatility, corrosion, slab extending, and flow behavior in horizontal tube. The inhibition efficiency and drag reduction efficiency of the developed DRA have been investigated finally based on the relevant test methods. Results of corrosion test show that the developed DRA has very good inhibition effect on mild steel by brushing a thin layer of DRA on steel specimens, giving inhibition efficiency of 91.2% and 73.1% in 3%NaCl solution and standard salt fog environment respectively. Results of drag-reducing test also show that the Colebrook formula could be used to calculate friction factors on internal pipes with DRA as the Reynolds number is in the range of $0.75\times10^5\sim2.0\times10^5$. By comparing with normal industrial pipes, the friction resistance coefficient of the steel pipe with DRA on internal wall decreases by 13% and the gas flux increases by 7.3% in testing condition with Reynolds number of $2.0\times10^5$.
In an effort to develop a potent system for the production of various dp (degree of polymerization) chitooligosaccharides, 32 enzymes or microbial systems were screened for chitosanolytic acitivity using chitosan as a substrate. The efficiency of each enzyme system was evaluated by the changes of turbidity and viscosity of chitosan solution, the amount of precipitate and the reducing sugar-producing activity in the enzymatic reaction mixture. Based on these assay methods for the chitosanase activity, Bacillus sp. P2l out of 32 screened systems showed highly potent endochitosanase, which was comparable with a commercially available enzyme (E7). Chitooligosaccharides of dp 3-7 were separated by TLC as major enzymatic reaction products, suggesting that the chitosanase from Bacillus sp. P2l be endo-splitting type.
This study was undertaken to evaluate the degree of the marginal leakage of composite restoration with 3 brands of dental adhesives by means of the dye penetration at the enamel and dentinal margins. 150 cavities of class V were prepared on the buccal and lingual surfaces of 75 extracted anterior and premolar teeth, which were devided into 3 groups. The cavities were filled with composite resin, Silar$^{(R)}$ (3M) and Heliosit$^{(R)}$ (Vivadent) after application of the dental adhesives, specifically Scotchbond$^{(R)}$ (3M) which is essentially composed with halophosphorus ester of Bis-GMA, Dentin Adhesit$^{(R)}$ (Vivadent) which is polyurethane resin, and Enamel Bond$^{(R)}$ (3M) which is a product of Bis-GMA with low viscosity at internal surfaces and margins of the cavities. All specimens were immersed in $37^{\circ}C$, 0.5% methylene blue solution for 24 hours after thermocycling at $4^{\circ}C$ and $60^{\circ}C$, embedded in acrylic resin, and sectioned with diamond disk into two parts. The sectioned specimens observed with the light microscope. The following results were obtained: 1. The group filled with Scotchbond$^{(R)}$-Silar$^{(R)}$ the other two groups at the enamel margins. 2. No significant difference in the degree of the marginal leakage had appeared between Dentin Adhesit$^{(R)}$-Heliosit$^{(R)}$ group an d Enamel Bond$^{(R)}$-Silar$^{(R)}$ group at the enamel margins. 3. Severe marginal leakage with penetration of dye to the floor of cavity had appeared from the all three groups and no significant difference in the degree of marginal leakage existed between the three groups at the dentinal margins.

Diffusion Coefficient$(D_0)$ and electrode reaction rate Constant$(K_0)$ of Co$(dimethyl bipyridine)_3(ClO_4)_2$ were determined by cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry. It was also investigated that the effects of solvent, concentration, and scan rate, etc. on the diffusion coefficient and the temperature effect on the rate constant. The peak currents and diffusion coefficients were dcreased as increasing the viscosity of solvent. Diffusion coefficient was $5.54{\times}10^{-6 }cm^2/sec$ and the reaction rate constant was $2.39{\times}10^{-3 }/s$ at 25$^{\circ}C$. The thermodynamic parameters such as ${\Delta}G^{\neq},\;{\Delta}H^{\neq},\;and\;{\Delta}S$ were calculated from plotting the reaction rate constants versus the solution temperatures. This compound was shown the catalytic effect on the oxygen reduction that the reduction peak current of oxygen was greatly enhanced and the peak potential was shifted to +0.2 volt.
The influnces of 9 kinds of solvents on the toxicities against several insect species, phytotoxicity and solubility of compounds were evaluated by means of leaf dipping and spray methods. In case of the spray application, density and vapor pressure seemed to be a contributing factor to lethal toxicity against brown planthopper and diamond-back moth, respectively; the bigger the property of density and the smaller the vapor pressure gave the stronger toxicity. It appeared that the toxicity of solvents was not correlated with anyone of physical properties such as boiling point, dipole moment, dielectric constant, surface tension and viscosity. Spray treatment gave more toxicity to insects than leaf dipping treatment. Although dielectric constant and dipole moment seemed to be contributing factors to phytotoxic damage to rice seedling and bean plants, respectively, no general correlation between phytoxicity and the other physical properties was found. Leaf dipping application caused stronger phytotoxicity than spray application. It is concluded that 5% acetone solution may be most suitable to test chemicals because of its favorable solubility of compounds, lower toxicity to insects, and lower phytotoxicity.

The paper describes a Large Eddy Simulation (LES) study of turbulent flow around a cavity. A series of three-dimensional cavities placed in a turbulent boundary layer are simulated at a Reynolds number of $1.0{\times}10^5$ by considering U and h, which represent the velocity at the top and the depth of the cavity, respectively. In order to obtain the appropriate solution for the filtered Navier-Stokes equation for incompressible flow, the computational mesh forms dense close to the wall of the cavity but relatively coarse away from the wall; this helps reduce computation cost and ensure rapid convergence. The Boussinesq hypothesis is employed in the subgrid-scale turbulence model. In order to determine the subgrid-scale turbulent viscosity, the Smagorinsky-Lilly SGS model is applied and the CFL number for time marching is set as 1.0. The results show the flow variations inside cavities of different sizes and shapes.

The drag and heat transfer reduction phenomena and degradation effects of drag reducing polymer solutions which are known as the viscoelastic fluids are investigated experimentally for the turbulent circular tube flows. Two stainless steel tubes are used for the experimental flow loops. Aqueous solutions of Polyacrylamide Separan AP-273 with concentrations from 300 to 1000 wppm are used as working fluids. Flow loops are set up to measure the friction factors and heat transfer coefficients of test tubes in the once-through system and the recirculating flow system. Test tubes are heated by power supply directly to apply constant heat flux boundary conditions on the wall. Capillary tube viscometer and falling ball viscometer are used to measure the viscous characteristics of fluids and the characteristic relaxation time of a fluid is determined by the Powell-Eyring model. The order of magnidude of the thermal entrance length of a drag reducing polymer solution is close to the order of magnitude of the laminar entrance length of Newtonian fluids. Dimensionless heat transfer coefficients of the viscoelastic non-Newtonian fluids may be represented as a function of flow behavior index n and newly defined viscoelastic Graetz number. As degradation continues viscosity and the characteristic relaxation time of the testing fluids decrease and heat transfer coefficients increase. The characteristic relaxation time is used to define the Weissenberg number and variations of friction factors and heat transfer coefficients due to degradation are presented in terms of the Weissenberg number.
This paper describes a fabrication of Fe-dispersed hydrophilic magnetic fluid and its application to oil seal in combination with the Nd-permanent magnet. The results are as follows; 1) Using silica coated iron particle of magnetization of 125.5 emu/g (at 10 kOe) and the mean particle size of 100 $\AA$, after multiple adsorption to the surface of silica coated iron particle with oleic acid ion, D.B.S. and T.M.A. ion, hydrophilic Fe-magnetic fluid [70 %(g/∝)Fe, magnetization of 52 emu/g and viscosity of 1450 cp] can be produced by dispersing the iron particle in ethylene glycol solution. 2) The oil seal apparatus consisting of six stages of Nd-permanent magnet (3200 Gauss) and Fe-magnetic fluid [70 %(g/∝) Fe] showed an excellent pressure resistance of 7400 g/$\textrm{cm}^2$ under the gap between shaft and oil seal was 0.2 mm.

A series of novel polytriazoleimides were prepared from various aromatic dianhydrides and a new kind of 1,2,3-triazole-containing aromatic diamine synthesized by the Cu (I)-catalyzed 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reaction in DMAc, and characterized by FT-IR, $^1H$-NMR, XRD, DSC and TGA techniques. The results show the polytriazoleimides are soluble in most of strong polar solvents and have inherent viscosity values of 0.51-0.62 dL/g(DMAc). The polytriazoleimide films exhibit a tensile strength of 62.3-104.5 MPa and an elongation at breakage of 4.0-8.1%, a glass transition temperature ($T_g$) of $257-275^{\circ}C$, a decomposition temperature (at 5% weight loss) of $350-401^{\circ}C$ in $N_2$ atmosphere, and a dielectric constant of 2.47-3.01 at 10 MHz, which depend on the structure of the polymers. The polytriazoleimides perform good resistance to acid and alkali solution.

The Present study uses non-Newtonian simulant gel propellant mixed by Water, Carbopol 941, and NaOH solution in order to analyze the gel propellant flow behavior. Rheological data have been measured and obtained prior to the analysis of flow characteristics where water-gel propellant as well as water-gel propellant with $Al_2O_3$ nano particles are both used. The critical Dean number were examined by numerical simulation of gel propellant in the U-shape duct flow. It is found that though gel-nano propellants have higher apparent viscosity, the critical Dean number did not showed notable difference with respect to the water-gel propellant. It is believe that this is due to the fact that the power law index of both propellants have close value, as was demonstrated by Fellouah et al.[1]
